  • and that looks like the late dee murray on bass,he was elton's bassplayer on all the early hits...

  • blondie's drummer clem burke.

  • Man wat I would do to lift up that skirt rip her pantys down, and give her the best 26 seconds ov her life.Killer voice, knows how to use it

  • There is no difference between V1 or V2 video you posted. This is not how I remember how this song was sung back in the 80s. Also this is not the same video that was released backed in the 80s. I will have to find the video from the 80s where she is wearing the white dress being walked back home.

  • Is that really Bon Jovi??

  • @mrdouglas51510 yes it is!

  • anybody realize Jon Bon Jovi is the guitar player in the purple shirt. Could find him in any crowd !!

  • Did you folks know Patty was asked to take over vocals after David Lee Roth left Van Halen and she declined? She said some years later that might not have been the best career decision she ever made.

  • I'm sure there is enough room in those Parachute Pants for me too!

  • I'd climb to the top of Greg Kihn's career and jump clean off for her.

  • I'd steal my gym teacher's '77 Pinto and fill it with Pop Rocks for her.

  • @85vicwagonguy

Hey, I had a 79 Pinto. Best car I ever owned!

  • I'd shoplift a dozen Rubik's Cubes in my parachute pants for her.

  • R.I.P. Frankie LaRocca - you were the best! Miss you!

  • Well i'll be damned....JON BON JOVI!!!

  • I read somewhere (I think it was Wikipedia) that they made this video for $20 and the record company (Columbia?) signed them after seeing it. Wow, them were the days, eh? It's a hell of document showing a pretty average band, playing a remarkable song in a very unremarkable way---except for Patty, that is. Great singer, great song--forget the rest.

  • I remember an interview with PS and she described the making of this video. She admitted the band was inexperienced being filmed, and the cameraman basically just focused on her jumping around. That's probably why it was re-made into the more professional version you can also find on YouTube

  • great time of my life! i miss these days.

  • I always laugh about the nose of the guy in 0:14!!

    nevertheless - brilliant 80s song

  • Patty Smyth...........were there EVER two more lovely words in all of pop music history ????

  • oh my lord!!

  • Jon Bon Jovi...I just found out he played in a few songs with them, I was shocked to learn he was with them

  • Bon Jovi wasn't actually IN the band. On the Bands Reunited show, Patti said that they needed another guitarist for the video, and Jon somehow was hanging around, so he got drafted in.

  • I like all versions I 've heard thus far, but there is something about this one and version 1. Well, I guess what I am saying is that, 1 and 2 are better with more feeling than the official one.

  • Personally,I thought she was so hot back then.

  • The first version was better.

  • Goodbye to You also has Jon Bon Jovi!

  • love it

  • Love it! Simple music, simple lyrics. Too bad some people have to bash it.

  • Saw her open for Rod Stewart in 1992.

Her hips were wide as two axe handles and she sounded terrible. Her voice was exposed in person. Plus she had no showmanship.

Not a big RS fan but he was very professional and saved the night.

Was she with either Don Henly or Glen Frye at one time?

  • John McEnroe married up I think.Even though he was a talented athlete this girl was out of his league. He got lucky I guess.I swa her not to long ago and she still looks really good.Patty you rule!!

  • Where is Bon Jovi!?

  • he is to left of the screen. it seems to me that Patty likes being close to him in this video.lol I would too.

  • Purple shirt, long hair, the guy with the guitar. You see him?

  • Kind of ironic that one of the biggest catchphrases of the 80's was "Say No To Drugs" because looking back at the popular fashions of the day (such as Patty's outfit here) one would assume that we were all saying "Yes" to drugs.

  • who cares what she s wearing shes still hot

  • Amen to that...

  • where is ivan elias?

  • Hot? Hell ya!

  • i love the yellow destroyer....kool

  • shes hot

  • Look at that guy, um, who is he? Oh, I know, Darling of all darling JON BON JOVI.

  • She's more than hot - She has this radioactive hotness about her

  • god! patty is so hot

  • Comment removed

  • how did john mcenroe ever hook up with the beautiful and so very cool patty smyth?????? thats a mystery to me.....

  • paid her off lol

  • It's a beautiful song - one of their best. i always wonder what they might have done if they didn't go so "studio" with their overproduced second album. The combination of zack's songwriting and Patty's amazing voice was incredible. One of the best albums of the 80's.

  • bon jovi? grande!!!!!!

  • Looks like Joyce DeWitt from Three's Company.

  • Holy shit! I love this video and I love the 80s!

She's sooooo cute and sexy in this video. And her typical 80s clothes are lovely...!

The people seem to be very untroubled, her dancing-style anyway!

I wish I met her when she was that young and sexy :P

    *sigh*

  • I think this is the better directed version. The other version doesn't show the entire band as well as this one. I sure never realized that Jon Bon Jovi played for this group, and I certainly didn't know that the late great Dee Murray(one of the best bassists)of the original Elton John Band played with them either! Unbelievable!

  • That was my first reaction too. Someone told me to look for this version and see Jon Bon Jovi in it, but when it came on I said "Holy shit! That's Dee Murray!". I used to play bass and he was a huge influence on me. His playing on the album Goodbye Yellowbrick Road is phenomenal!

  • Wasn't it though!! Probably Elton's finest hour. It wouldn't have been as great without Dee's bass work!

  • What a great album! Some of the Best Elton/ Bernie Taupin songs ever, amazing production and arrangements, Davey Johnstone, Ray Cooper, Nigel Olson, Dee Murray...a phenomenal band and Elton at his finest. "All the Young Girls Love Alice", "Jamica Jerk Off","This Song Has No Title", "Funeral for A Friend/Love Lies Bleeding",and on and on.,

  • Yes,it was wasn't it!? I also love his "Captain Fantastic and the Brown Dirt Cowboy album! Pity that he broke the band up, on the very next album though!!

What the hell was he thinking?!

  • I agree with you. I like "Rock of the Westies" and "Blue Moves" but have never understood why he dumped Nigel and Dee. Nothing against Kenny Passerelli and Roger Pope, but if he wanted to expand the sound, he could have kept the original group together and just added Caleb Quaye and James Newton-Howard (what is really scary is that I just pulled all those names out of my memory. I guess I really am a fan).

  • What's even scarier is you even remembered how to spell "Passerelli"! Ha!! I seen Elton live in '80, with Dee,Nigel,& James Newton-Howard,but Davey was strangely absent on that '80 tour. Pity.

  • the guitar guy w/the dark shirt looks like jon (jbj)...but anyway jon will be always the most handsome man ever :D

  • OMG he IS JON (L)he looks sooo young and cute!!!

  • ......no comment on the Drummer...that is Frankie C. LaRocka...born LaRocca. He grew up in Staten Island since he was 5 or 6. He was the first drummer (studio) for Jon... on that classic 'She's a Runaway'. The first time I heard it was 5 years ago exactly .. August 5th, 2003...when he popped it in his car and told me that was him playing for Jon. RIP Frankie.. he died at 51 on May 12th, 2005.

  • Patty was good pee pee pullin' material.

  • lol

  • She was sooooo cute! She was posh before posh spice.

  • her outfit is so 80's but cool!

  • I'm so glad he's the front man now cause you just don't get to see him enough when they're the guitar player!! and I think he may have picked up some of her bouncy dance moves during this...lol

  • Jon again!! Wow, he looked so cute then!!!!

  • ahh ha ha, ahh ha ha ha. yeah hmm hmm, ha, hmm hmm hmm. ahhh, thats don jon bovi.

  • I prefer the version 1 of the video and song, here she looks wierd with the mullet hair. She was very pretty, but she didnt age gracefully, she looks old now, the same happened with Laura Branigan, but she died.

  • I saw Scandal in 1982 as they were the opening act for Hall & Oates here in NC. I fell in love with Patty and went out the next day and bought their EP which I still own today.

  • Chase Kasper on drums. . .

  • Dee Murray holy cow and Jon Bon Jovi? How did she pull that off? She was a local Brooklyn girl who played at Staten Island clubs in 1982! She was great but wha?

  • This is such a fun video, I loved the 80's. Patty has an amazing voice.

  • She's cute.

  • How cute baby Jon before Bon Jovi :)

  • Did anybody else notice Jon mouthing the words along with Patty? So cute! :P

  • OMG!! Look at Jonny there! Such a cutie!!! This musta been before 1984, right?

  • OMG That's Jonny!!

  • baby jon!

  • Well I think Patty is possibly the strongest voice of the 80's... but her style of music (pop)at the time didn't provide the opportunity to throw out the vocal theatrics afforded Ann Wilson. The singer couldn't overwhelm the song... that didn't happen until Mariah Carey came around doing her thing.

  • She was so talented,God what a voice.Loud, hot and smokey tones.I can't believe she married such an ugly dork like John McEnroe, what a waste of beauty.

  • She looks so pretty here with her pixie/shag haircut. She's always reminded me of Linda Ronstadt.

  • Patty Smyth is beyond hot in this vid. Even though this a simple demo vid it is so much better than that Warrior vid.

  • This one is almost too much to watch. Time moves too fast.

  • Damn she's cute:D

  • Damn it, he's cute, uh, you know the cutie standing right behind Patti with the white shoes, um, I wondered who he could be? Oh, I know it's the Super Star JON BON JOVI.

  • this is great .... 80's rock

  • saved this video with savetube.*com :D

  • Van Halen

  • she has the most beautiful eyes i have ever seen

  • At least for me, one of the few songs that still stand today from the early 80's.

    Thanks for posting.

  • Is the bass player in this video the late, great Dee Murray of The Elton John Band fame???

  • Yes, that is Dee Murray, he passed away from skin cancer. Oh, by the way that's the cutie Jon Bon Jovi who is pretty famous himself now.

  • I had a huge crush on her in the 80's and now I remember why.She was so pretty.I used to listen to the tracks of the warrior album all the time back then.Brings back a lot of memories.

  • I was in love with Patty when I was 13 and I still am today!

  • did u see the Bands Reunited show they did? She looked old but still cleans up quite well and her voice sounded great on the show.

  • woow

  • Very cool. Another other version!!

  • god, she's gorgeous---not as pretty as bon jovi tho

  • OMR...ITS JON BON JOVI!!! AHAHAHA oh boy

  • and a very young jon bon jovi...

  • Man she is so Hot...That Voice, That Face...she is easily top female Rock voice. 2nd would be ann wilson of heart.

  • I like Patti but Ann's voice is much better, much more range and stronger, they both Rock though!

  • I love it when she jumps up and down and moves side to side. That was kind of her signature move when the vocal got to a groovy part. LOVE IT! Thanks.

  • Wow, I love it when people can dig up this stuff! Patty rocks!

  • i like this version better of this song and a way better video

  • Patty Smyth is hot in this video
