@ headofHydra SERE course is not just about survival it is also about evading capture, resisting interrogation, and trying to escape and survive behind enemy lines. I served in the military and I am a survivalist as a hobby. Things you do in a regular survival situation can be far different when you are evading capture. Light discipline might hinder a rescue but hide your position and fires can be a dead give away so you would have go without. I agree we are getting weaker in this country.

Green berets are the only special forces all the rest are special operations but yes TACP does not fall infer AFSOC but they are still considered "special" ops.

My son is Navy Aircrew and is headed to NH in April for SERE. He's looking forward to it and reminds me that it's better to be prepared. Now, he is not a macho musclehead, but he is fit and knows that a big part of it is psychological.

1.36 : That way of wearing the beret is orrible. Probably worse than the israeli army does. Germany, France, Italy, Uk, etc...the beret is used almost in every army but just in USA it seems a sort of "rotten pizza" pushed over the head during a raining day. :)

And yes, you COULD throw a spear into a large animal and make your own arrow tips; you just need to learn how! Neanderthals figured this shit out for themselves, as did Homo Erectus before them, and they weren't even as bright as we are.

@HeadoftheHydra people start getting off there asses and being more outdoorsy... i live in a very suburban area but still find time in my busy schedule to go to the woods by my house each season and build a new shelter and spend every weekend living in that shelter and living off the land... i have no training but watching youtube videos on tips and tricks on survival and i once even stayed the whole winter in my shelter just last year... i know its not easy but it needs to be done

The Air Force started SERE first of all, plus the Army and Marines are all hardcore, however you think they have the only Special Operations? USAF PJ's, CCT's, TACP's, or SOWT's ever heard of them? We all need each other, but by far the Air Force would destroy every branch. We could wipe literally everyone off the planet with bombs.
