On his website he has an essay touching on the subject of homophobia, as related to the backlash against the reveal of Dumbledore's sexuality. If you haven't read it, in it he basically said 'Ok, I may have my own beliefs against homosexuality, but I I am glad that Dumbledore is gay because he's a great character and a good test of those beliefs." He also called for conservatives to stop and really think about their protests.

If only more homophobes were like this guy.

you are right, people are being incredibly disrespectful and ignorant, the guy has a huge pressure, he's a WOT fan and he's inheriting the final most significant legacy of a twenty-year spell-bindding series, the author has bravery and talent for doing it, his other fantasy novels are pretty good, and i'm glad he's splitting it in three, takes longer to come out and most people would not have the appetite to reach a 2000-paged story

No anime, and NO cheesy B actors. I want this movie (movies) done RIGHT. Even if they have to make 14 films. I say go for it. Or better yet turn it into a really good television series that takes years to come to completion, but don't cut stuff out. =( or there will be a lot of unhappy fans. Don't demolish it the way they did Eragon. That's all I ask please. :(

Now people are on his ass because of the last Wheel book being split up. Like he's in it for the money, or some shit.

What they don't realize is that Sanderson is not being paid any more money for this, and there will still be an omnibus edition containing all three final books under Jordan's original title once they are all released.

Jesus, the guy is trying to us a favor by getting the story out there sooner in fragments, and we have to go and crucify him. Boo!

Seriously. Not to mention that it's virtually impossible to get all of Memory of Light into one book. I mean... damn! Sanderson had to split it into three and the first two he released have both broken eight hundred pages!

i know this is 2 years old, but i wanted to agree w/ your post. (also another reason they were split up is because there was soooooooooooo many notes on the last book... he basically had no choice but to split them up... either that or have a 2,000+ page book. splitting it up into 3 just makes sense even w/ no money involved)

The WOT fans need to relax. RJ died too soon and there is nothing anyone can do about it. There also is probably not a writer in the world that could write the book RJ would have, but there is nothing anyone can do about it. TOR and RJ's wife are behind him and I think he will do the best that anyone can do for the WOT series.

i really hope that he can create some day something epic like he did with Mistborn trilogy. I also would like to see Mistborn on a screen. (but not some pathetic interpretation like they did it with Harry Potter, losing so many great and interesting details).

Following that thought, if they do make it into a movie(s), i just hope they don't screw it up with bad wirework if there is any. I've always pictured the trilogy in an anime styled adaption.

Who knows. Its just that anime can surely deliver the correct portrayal of powers and emotion if done correctly. Thats why i've always like it. Which ever way its done, i just want it to be done right, ya know? Lately, the big screen has been letting me down.

yeah, if it goes to anime - fine. There will be a great opportunity to describe some interesting details if they go for TV series. If they go for the movie - it could be a little short for it. As for the style which I see interesting for it I have been thinking from very beginning about "Sword of the Stranger" (but not possible for TV series, however). What do you think will be a good style for this epic story?

Hate to be negative, but this guy seems like a bit of a weiner..

I hope they made a good choice, I loved all of the books in WoT enough to read it three times through to 11, and I've come to the conclusion that Robert Jordan was so submereged in his characters and world that depicting them was second nature to him.. That's not something that can be fabricated.

Go to his site, there you can download allot of his stuff and even complete books like Warbreaker.

I have read two of Brandons books, Elantris and Warbreaker and from that I can say that his buildups can be a bit slow (like jordan) but as soon as the stories begin to pick up speed they are great and full of plot twists.

Jordan left all of the biggest details completed within his notes - but Sanderson is not a ghost writer, and his touch will be on it. I'm a big fan of both, and I'm pretty confident he'll do a great job. Looking forward to the first installment of AMOL!
