  • I am pleased you like it...for me it is one of the best I have written as far as lyrics. Many Moons? I won't even ask...lol thanks for coming back around! xx

  • Very good my friend!!!

    Congratulations.

  • Thank you so much...I am pleased you visited and found this enjoyable....tom

  • Good to have a talisman to kiss....without one, we're lost at sea.

  • Amen...and some are still lost or adrift in spite of it

  • Still a great favorite of mine! Every piece fits together so perfectly. Of course, for me, the words are the most important, and yours here are exquisite. I am so glad you did sing your own song here, because it is a perfect rendering as far as I am concerned; very emotional...even passionate! Music is just right...never overpowers your singing or distracts attention from the words. And the visuals are lovely! I want to be there! Just had to come back to visit! Love it! NAncy

  • P.S. I really love your voice!!!

  • Thanks,Nancy...this is one of those that never got much attention or fanfare...but it was a very happy moment for me when I completed it. It was then I knew I could write. The structure and phrasing are nearly perfect,in my mind.... but nobody gives a rip about "folk songs" any more.I am so pleased you like and appreciate it...my little masterpiece. xo tom

  • Well, as far as I am concerned, there is nothing "little" about this one, Tom.

I adore this song...enough that I don't mind gushing about it! ;) You have reason to be proud! I think you should show it off more! Anyway...when I think of you...this is the song that plays in my head! ;) Your theme song, so to speak! ;)

Well...off to grab a little sleep, with the perfect fodder for wonderful dreams!

Wish you well, friend! THanks for writing this! ~NAncy

  • I too am fading fast...I will look for you along that pebbled beach...sweet dreams! :o)

  • More amazing photos, love this art!!

    Good one! ~~~Ashleigh~~~

  • Thank you,Ashleigh, you certainly have been busy! This was the first real song I ever wrote, and so it is dear to me in a special way.Glad you like it...tom

  • Hey, Tom, what a treasury of sweet poesy and aromas are here encapsulated in this nostalgic but at the same time hopeful song!! Very well conveyed. I could smell the aromas!

Refreshing!! What a lively talisman of fragrances!!! Such a pungent, citric and sweet synergy, all enfolded within "la sutil y suave brisa del mar que todo lo cura" (the subtle and suave sea breeze that aids in healing all).

More inspiration and blessings, my friend!

My sincere congrats from Mexico City,

    Mine ;-)

  • Minerva...it just reflects the old romantic streak I have...lol So glad you like it...I wrote it far from friends and home, and nowhere near the sea.The desert would be more accurate...on every level. It was a low point and this was the result. tom

  • i've been thinking about senarios and angles...country it up,rock it out,or maybe

    blues or reggae.....

  • Karen, thanks for listening and thinking about this...that's a true compliment! Reggae has some possibility!...

  • beautiful all around !

  • Karen...perhaps another of those scenarios from another angle? I am pleased you enjoyed it...I think it is one of my best,lyrically... tom

  • this was the beginning...

  • But as you now know, certainly not the end. Thank you for listening again. Merci! tom

  • Tom I really enjoyed this song. Very well done.

    Thanks for sharing!

  • Thank you for taking the time to hear it.One of my favorites and best-written,in my own opinion.Steve,I appreciate your kind words. tom

  • Do not chase fame or fortune.. fame and fortune will follow you if you remain true to yourself... yah? ;-)

  • That is what "they" say. I am well past the chance either of those...it is all for the music and self-expression

  • You have a talent... follow your own path.. ;-)

  • It is a long and winding road....with many stops along the way.

  • I know.... ;-)

  • I know...:o)

  • I feel sometimes I have to surround myself with superfluios crap.... I cant even spell.. ;-)

    Do this stuff....

    ;-)

  • I have very eclectic tastes and enough songs to cover the freeway between Dallas to Houston. I will post more acoustic songs.I promise. tom

  • I have told you before.. i love your stuff.. ;-)

  • Thanks...I love this ,and Passage ,perhaps the most of all I've done. People avoid them like the plague...there is no accounting for taste! lol

  • Wow...how time flies! I can't believe it's been 2 years since you posted this!

    Happy 2 year anniversary! :-)

    xo

  • We must be having fun, then! :o) Thanks!

  • A bird may be known by its song that was just "video-song"... many thanks.

  • ....and this is the song of my heart...thank you

  • A great favorite of mine! THIS is what I think of when I think of you, Tom! A voice like nobody else's (and I really DO mean that it a wonderful way!) lovely ocean images, but most of all...these incredible words set to this lilting, sweet song. I just LOVE this one!!! (again!)

    ~NAncy

  • You will have me blushing in a minute...;o)

I very much like this song, the lyrics are some of my best, but this is not a popular song.Maybe if this was 1850......

  • This song is definitely in my top ten favorite youtube songs. Well, I have always felt like I belong in the late 1800's, but I think this one is timeless. And yes, I really do think these are some of your finest lyrics, and your voice and the music are wonderful too. I'll quit, but I really do love this one. ;) ~N

  • Nancy....do you have shells in your hand?

    thanks so much!

  • Just stopping by for my daily listen!

So incredibly beautiful...the lyrics, your voice, the music...! One of my favorite Simanek hits!

    xo

  • Now don't be getting all "Irish" on me...lol There are very few who even listen to this, and I think it is one of the best! Thank you so much! xo

  • Then count me in as one of the "very few" who listen to this...because I'm back again! I too think it is one of the best...as are you!

    xo

  • (mild blush)

  • "mild blush"?? Is that all??? I guess I'll have to try harder the next time! ;-))

  • someone slip something into your coffee this morning?

    LOL!!

  • someone put some smart-ass pills in with your jelly beans

  • Moi?!! A smart ass? I do declare Mr Simanek...that you are mistaken!!

I assure you I'm a purely innocent shy quiet gal !!

  • Gabi,Thanks for listening and for your kind words. I am happy you enjoyed this. tom

  • who sing this song? The voice is so good. I belived that this video was a video with one song of the music-group relationed in this page: Talisman, but I just listen the voice of Talisman and this is different. Good voice

  • Manuel, the songs on this channel are all written by me,at least in part, though there are some here sung by other people also

  • Tom, this is so wonderful. The lyric is masterfully poetic conjuring the image of a seaman's lonely life while plying the spice trade of a bygone era. The melody and vocal conveys just the right note of wistfulness. Then there are the great photos to further enhance the whole. Just marvelous. Thank you for sharing.

    Mattie

P.S. All the stars and a favorite. :o)

  • Thanks Mattie. It has never been a popular song here, but it will always be a favorite of mine.I think it is one of the best I have ever written. tom

  • Nancy, this is one of the earliest pieces I ever seriously wrote, and one holding special meaning for me on several levels. For some reason it doesn't hold much appeal for most people and all I can do is thank and appreciate you and hum along with you. thanks........tom

  • Another wonderful song! And the images!! i love the sea! Fantastic!!

  • Flattery will get you everywhere! Thank you!

  • naye mate, I'm the politician leftist revolutionary...

Morgan is the poet pirate romantic rum conessier,

and Libera is the myhology buff philosopher.....

Which one do you like best?

We all like you the same....

and we think you should have been famous....

(but we would still buy 3 albums, beings as were all greedy...hehheh insatiable!)

  • Is it really something I have to do?(choose, that is). Each has a season and purpose, and I have my own moods....sounds like what the good doctor ordered.:o)

  • yes indeed...the witch doctor!

  • magical and appropriate!

  • Tom, what a special song... this is my favourite....

I can imagine it is many people's fav as well...

    Libera

  • So glad you like it! I like it! Long ago I realized that you can please some of the people all of the time, and all of the people some of the time...but you can't please all of the people all of the time....this is not as popular as I would have thought, but like I said,I like it! tom

  • you spoke Aesop, right there.....

The Donkey, the man, and the Boy.

My friend Morgan is an Avid reader of Aesop, amongst many others....

I bet you would like her.

  • The Fabled Morgan,Princess of the arts and muse of creativity and politics...fragile wisp of the dreams and longing of all who wonder? Beyond my grasp!

  • she is in everyone who still has a dreams hand's......

  • then all is not vanity!

  • Yearning to go home! We have all experienced that. Home Sweet Home...There's no place like it! This was beautiful...Hearts and Stars to you my friend!

  • Donna,I was so far from home,in body and spirit, when I wrote this. One of those very personal and introspective pieces.Oddly, when I hear it I don't think of home, but rather the place I was when I wrote it.Thanks so much for listening and for taking the time to comment. tom

  • You've sent me a daydream, scented with ocean musk and seaspray, and wrapped in waves and clouds. I happily and thankfully receive your splendid gift, and will wait anxiously for the next! Nancy

    Don't ask,.....

But it's elegant and delivers you.

I'm sorry I don't leave more comments I do try to tell you how wonderful you are.

Folk playlist....with the rest of yours.

  • Not asking...each of us always makes our own connections to everything we encounter. Some are fair and true, some are not.For me it might be the girl in the third grade I had a crush on,or some unacknowledged gut feeling. All are personal if not unique or exclusive.I don't know about the wonderful thing, and I also know you have plenty of other writing to do! Thanks for taking the time! xo tom
