By the way the fatuous, vacuous presenter at the end was Amanda de Cadenet, a wannabe serious muso who like many of todays celebs was famous for dropping her knickers for anyone remotely famous, and was shagging one of Duran Duran, so that's an accurate indication of her musical tastes. And yes, she was pretty hateful and repulsive
Bloody hell looking at some of these comments makes me realise how "rawk n roll" some of you arseholes think you are. The Manics started out as a kick against all that went before, including the glam thing. Get a grip, eh? All bands metamorphose into something different from how they set out. Look at Radiohead - you wouldn't recognise them from the beginnings circa Pablo Honey
From what I can remember (from *ahem* Pricey's book) the Manics were set to play Love's Sweet Exile and rehearsed that like good little boys...right up till they went live and then played Repeat. You've just gotta LOVE them!!
I love it when Richey's miming away when it's obvious he's making no sound at all - just like 80s TOTP.
Nicky's bass was way too high over James' cool solos. Love guitar solos. Hate the image they had at the time - if those were my fans, I'd shoot myself.
hahaha, Love's Sweet Exile indeed! I do hope some Disgusted of Tunbridge Wells type characters were up late watching this one. "Repeat after me, FUCK QUEEN AND COUNTRY"
their most onest song I think !

Haha! I remember this performance at the time, but not watched it for years & only now, looking back, can I recall how utterly shambolic it was!
How Nicky resists smashing the shit out of that bass that's refusing to work/lead keeps falling out, I'll never know!
As mentioned above though, noteable for their decision to play Repeat, against the wishes of the shows producers!
You've gotta love the Manics!
