I just got back from FAUST at the Met. I was very impressed by Mr. Kaufmann. His voice is overwhelmingly powerful, with a burnished-gold quality, and he's an effective actor, too.

i think piotr beczala is the best tamino, he can sing, yes. but his voice dont compare to this aria and his looking too, he would be better in don giovanni

La voix est magnifique. Mais grâce à cette vidéo, on peut voir clairement qu'il maintient son larynx en bas quand il chante, carrément à la base du cou. C'est sans doute cela, associé à l'ouverture de la gorge, qui lui a donné cette voix sombre et barytonale... et qu'il l'empêche sans doute maintenant de vocaliser. Mais vu le répertoire qu'il aborde, ce n'est pas bien grave.
