I know its not yaoi, just saying they kissed. It was because Shinji had a breakedown of sorts, and that was Kaworus way of fixing it. There are lines in the english translation that hints that Shinjis feelings for Kaworu has a deeper meaning, but really nothing that says love.

i don't know about that, the angels in EVA are not the same as the angels from the Bible (who are spirits and therefore have no sex/don't get married or fall in love etc) the mangaka said that it uses religion names but it has nothing to do with them. Kaworu is a man, a special angel but I see him the same as Rey who's a vessel for the soul of the Angel Lilith and yet she loves shinji. So kaworu, as he said in the anime and manga, also loves shinji.
