1. The "disappearing" sleeve is a simple video compression artifact.

2. There exists no holographic projection of such quality. Especially not in a crowded room with journalists directly on the other side of the table.

The problem with film is it can not capture all of what the human eye sees in gradients of shades from pure white to jet black. The light meter is always trying to find middle grey. If the scene is predominately dark the meter will read that and the highlights (whites) will washout or "bloom." The shirt sleeve effect is probably nothing more than blooming.
