my school has the clock and speaker combo. The bell is a tone that rings over the speaker for about 5 seconds to signal class change.

@campqueen70 This is a more MODERN kind of school bell; it sounds over the intercom. All modern schools in my city built since 1998 use those tones, and the schools that often get renovated since the mid-to-late 1970s use them too (my middle school will be taking down their old bells this summer in favor of the tones during a renovation.)

@campqueen70 My school has loud bells, but not as loud as in El Paso High. Those in El Paso High give me the creeps. I was scared even walking in the school cuz i was scared of the bells there.

@Vinylrecordsneverdie Yep, it's a Dukane speaker from the late 1960s/early 1970s (the school was opened in 1971).

@wileyk209zback yeah that the exact same has mine my school open in 73 and it uses that in the hallways but uses these box intercom on the side of the wall for class rom and cafeteria

@elevatortimes Are they the old fashioned-style bells that ring loudly? If they are, then I understand (the schools I attended for kindergarten and junior high had them)

@wileyk209zback Yes they are. Im kinda scared of them. They are like from the 1960s. They could use intercom bells, but our intercom system is so old. It sounds so 1950s and 1960s. They just have to replace the intercom system and then they can use those cool intercom bells.

@elevatortimes I did see a video of them I think. The school I went to for grades 1-6 had those same Simplex bells but they almost never worked. The school I went to for kindergarten had bells from the 1970s (also Simplex), but they were even louder! My middle school had Edwards Adapt-a-bels

The high school I went to had a Simplex Clock system. It had the clock and PA speaker combo, however it had a more steady tone

Our's is like a low tone that beep's like a bell our middle school bell systom was the same thing it went BEEP...BEEP...BEEP...then on the last one BEEEE and the it wold be cut off it did that all day long we also had kinda the same thing outside but insted of a high pitched beep it was a low pitched buzz that was one long blast like BUZZZZZZZZZZZZ and then it wold stop. Sence my last day of school was yesterday and i was in 8th grade i will be going to high school in sept.

@tpirman1982 Yeah; the Davis K-8 and East Junior High Schools had some pretty loud bells! In fact, they recently muffled up the bell in the auditorium at East, and I suggested that at the Davis school they muffle up a few of the bells there too (except the bells there are behind grilles, but they could always unscrew the grille then put the tape and stuff over the bell.)
