  • ahead of his time

  • Warum fehhlt das Ende? Es wäre toll, wenn truecrypt nochmal versucht die Aufnahme ins Internet zu stellen

  • Plz forgive me if i say that it sounds like Chopin :-ss

  • @Mozart2710 Sounds like Mozart but she plays as if its like a nocturne.

  • @Mozart2710 I would have to agree. This is definitely a compliment to Mozart since Chopin was born almost 20 years after Mozart had died.

  • She takes the slowest tempo of anyone I have on youutube playing this.

  • Nice try

  • what grade is this piece?

  • I love this.

  • Despite magnificent, nay unsurpassable quality of this recording as such in my humble opinion you are doing "bear service" to Maria Veniaminovna by transmitting LP here which is of such a terrible quality. Those who don't know her will (and have done so already!) assume she was simply unrythmical. The missing end also works bizarre to say the least. If I were you I would try to find a good version (Arlecchino label?) Please don't be offended!

    Konstantin Lifschitz

  • @konstlifschitz

lol I think you need to be really ignorant not to understand it is the vinyl quality that causes speed changes

  • Dear truecrypt, the matchless music, the unrivaled conversation....... thank you. I had an urge for this K.511, and found happiness. It's always unique chez truecrypt.

  • Hm. Obviously a transfer from an old LP. Taking that aside, this lady has lots of skills and talent, but the way she plays this piece is not my taste. There are some strange moments, totally inadequate. Other parts sound very well interpreted. Apart from other good pianists, Rubinsteins interpretation is much more balanced, although lacking some individualtiy.

  • i did not know that the monalisa played mozart

  • Wow- she is GOOD!

  • @BarbaraPloyer333

    Yes, she's great.

  • Those painfully antagonized by Yudina's admittedly idiosyncratic style should recall that this is merely one out of many available interpretations and listen to someone else playing this beautiful piece; I'd recommend Gieseking and Heinrich Neuhaus. Personally though, I count her Mozart among the bare indispensables of my inner life, esp the A Major concerto and the C Minor fantasy and sonata

  • I am just now discovering this pianist from truecrypt's vids. Her best quality - she never just sets herself to the "all-purpose musical" position. This is not "warm and fuzzy" Mozart. She puts her own mind and will into every note, and gives unique character. This is the mark of great playing.

  • Another interesting point of view and sensibility for Mozart by Yudina.

  • an unforgettable rendition. Many thanks from Salonica, Truecrypt

  • ...actually she has no sense for the rubato.the rhythm is pretty confusing.

he has drunken two or three vodka----------->strange ;))[rhythm i mean, not mme.yudina LOLL]

  • Dear Kajohada, it's you again! I see that you are sodden even without vodka...very strange indeed. Maybe a drink will correct your abnormality. Cheers!

  • ...probably u wrote this comment completely pissed, virgin, did u? LOLL

  • My land is much like the land of Houyhnhnms, where beautiful horses (in my case, virgins) roam free and rule over the human brutes like the Yahoos. You are probably discontented with your lot as a Yahoo, but you're welcome to leave anytimes.

  • ...hehehe,what a pity that mme.yuhina cant visit you anymore and do a ride with u on the back of your beautiful virgin horses ;)))

  • My horses cannot be tamed with timid strokes and sweet sentiments, as those in your culture. Those who cannot tame them can only admire them from afar, and the horses are utterly indifferent to their suitors. Only the few who were brave, intelligent, and uncompromising had the chance to ride on their backs.

  • so you are a really horse admirer, that´s pretty nice so u need no music.i am a "music admirer" and so i need no horses, thas pretty nice too imo;))------->is there a difference?

  • You are indeed a "music admirer", but I'm not a horse admirer. Revering them from afar and treating them like sweet dolls is too impersonal...Music is also too imperonal that way.

  • ...does your lovely horses know that u are such an expert in philosphy by the way? ;))

  • I have to move my horses to another island to avoid the "crowding-out effect", so farewell. By the way, my horses said thank you.

  • This sounds Argerichy. Gorgeous!

Her sense of rubato is unique.

  • Che peccato gli ultimi secondo tagliati!

  • And the Kindergarten rant continues.Observe the composure.

  • who the fuck are you?

  • Dear "titus";

    Please watch your language.

You can discuss performance and express your views (even immature ones), but I won't tolerate personal insults here.

  • I think "tituscaesar" deserves to be BLOCKED after this PM from him:

    ---

TRIED PUTTING THE FOLLOWING COMMENT ON YOUR PAGE BUT IT DIDNT REGISTER...SO IM MAKING SURE THAT YOU GET IT HERE:

YOU ARE A FUCKING IDIOT! FUCK OFF LOOSER AND GET A LIFE!

YOUR VIDEOS SEEM TO ATTRACT ALL FUCKING RETARDS LIKE YOURSELF! AND STOP SENDING ME MESSAGES YOU OAF! FUCK OFF

    ----

    Well done, young man! ;)

  • Dear Kutusov,The more I know you,the more I love you. You're hysterical.I can see you leading unseen witty little patrols out of the woods hacking Le Grande Armee to bits, piece by piece...

  • P.S.If you block him,pass a sentence in public here,of a finite term.Everybody deserves a fresh start...eh?

  • Dear Smith;

I have my own views on *democracy* as you rightly noticed before ;) Some beings (even if called after Caesar) belong to the garbage can and should stay there at least until the end of puberty. So, here is my will: "tituscaesar" is BLOCKED until public apology to Maria Yudina, Smith Sherman and Trucrypt is made.

  • Dear Kutusov.Very Kutusovian of you...It's a simple act of contrition last 1 minute...

which will probably take 10 years to achieve. Are you sure you aren't Andrei Gromyko's child?

  • T'is not hard to imagine that with a dispositional prowess like this, the Better Angels of Titus's nature wouldn't seize upon the wonders here.

  • we'll see about "Better Angels"... and manage them accordingly... ;)

  • truecrpt-Don't allow those music appreciation wreckers to get your goat. That appears to be their object,as music appreciation certainly is not. This is brilliantly played. Brava! TY for posting this absolute gem.

  • I AWARD THIS 4 WOLFIES.

  • @Tituscaesar:a rendition for the emperor:))Another great interpretation of Maria Yudina by W.A. Mozart

  • this is the strangest interpretation of this rondo i ever heard...i dont like how she deliberately goes faster in places. also her playing isnt accurate enough especially when a "forte" is required. andreas schiff plays this piece much more hauntingly bringing out far more than yudina.

  • Josh, it's OK if you don't like it.

Yudina is a very *special* kind of musician and can be appreciated only by a very *special* kind of listeners. You are not *there* yet... ;)

  • nor are you *there* either when it comes to discerning a REAL mozart interpretation...you should try and open your horizons and listen to some andreas schiff and wilhelm kempff. then you will realize how unsophisticated this little artist is in comparison. WAKE UP!

  • Dear Josh, we both are where we belong to. I hope my horizon is wide enough since my point of view is somewhat higher.

Your characterization of Yudina as an "unsophisticated little artist" is rude and stupid. Learn to respect THE great performance even if you can't apprehend it due to lack of education and/or cultural experience.

  • Dear Josh, I think you don't mind if I quote your private reply here...

    [QUOTE]

SURELY KEMPFF & ANDREAS SCHIFF ARE FAR SUPERIOR. IF YOU CANT ACCEPT THIS SIMPLE TRUTH THEN YOU ARE FRANKLY PATHETIC. IF YOU CAN READ MUSIC YOU WILL FIND THAT YUDINA IS MAKING A FEW INACCURACIES, BUT I DO NOT HOLD TOO MUCH HOPE FOR YOU TO UNDERSTAND THE SUBTLETIES OF MOZART...GET A FRESH SCORE AND STUDY A LITTLE, YOU IGNORAMUS!

    [END QUOTE]

  • To say the truth I kind of enjoyed our exchange...

  • I laughed.

  • YOU'RE NOT USED TO MUSIC IN MOZART.

  • why dont you learn english first? you cant even spell "ecstasy" in your username...also..."you're not used to mozart's music" is the correct way of writing what you meant to write! i actually play the piano myself and i play loads of music by mozart and this piece too. if you carefully go through the score you find that this artist is not accurate.

  • Welcome to the kindergarten conservatory.

There is no music in a score.Just notes.

    Sooory Charlie.

  • a composer's wishes are contained in a score...the perfomer's duty is that of being as faithful to the score as possible. schiff and kempff are obviously superior. you seem to have a different view. we live in a democracy! thats fine.

  • Welcome to the Kindergarten Conservatory.

    Another 24 year old genius.

  • here's your pathetic private message:DEar Josh, You may continue commenting in the comment box.I don't allow private contact with the general public,as too often they present themselves entirely differently in private than in public. If you prove to be a cultured person in your responses we will become friends. But if you're just another know it all confrontational 24 year old male...then we won't Have a nice day>Smith

  • why on earth should i want to become friends with an oaf like you who has no idea how to write in english and has no clue about what makes a good performnce...someone who disregards scores themselves like you are totally foolish and misses the whole point music tradition. dont bother contacting me again

  • IDIOT

  • Wwhat a joke to mention Schiff and Kempff in the same century as Yudina.

  • Other than the Reinecke playing of Mozart Rondi,THIS IS BEST "CLASSICAL" STYLE PLAYING I'VE EVER HEARD".It's leagues ahead of the

    "Fortepianist-specialists."

  • wow. never herd her b4. didn t she bare crosses at her recitals.lol?

  • Yes she did, and please try to understand - what a bravery it was to wear a CROSS at the recital, when people were executed for hiding Bible at home.

Please, no "lol" when discussing Yudina! ;)

  • "Bravery" may not suffice in English...We need something more...How about..."Heroically challenging the fates to proclaim her a martyr?" It's almost too much to believe.

But then, listening to her thought-pattern in this...it's clearly on another world...Une

    monde eternale sans delusion.

  • Thank you for RIGHT WORDS!

May be I should post her Op.111...

  • You're very welcome! Please post anything that is on this level by Yudina. Please post Reinecke's Mozart as well!

  • please! do post her op 111.

at the concert at Thaikovsky Hall which I attended she smiled gently at people walking up to the stage bringing flowers and said with awave of her hand: Please, no need for these, better give the money to the poor. I will not forget this as long as I live.

  • Check Playlists link on my site. One of them is "Maria Yudina" - Op. 111 is there. I posted only the 1st movement though.

  • yeah, thanks, I found 1st movement after posting my comment. what about the Arietta though? I have the recording on an old LP, just like most of the Sofronitsky & Yudina and Neuhaus that you have posted but I am on my last stylus so... In other words, I would appreciate having a chance to hear the Arietta , too.

Thanks for your magnificent effort to acquaint people with the great artistry of these musicians.

  • I hate to "cut" performances - there is a 10 minutes limit on YT. Still... I'll try to post Arietta.

  • Thanks, I'll be looking forward to it. I inadvertently posted my reply while one of my (much younger) family members was logged into YT... next time I'd check the login id. I understand your reservations about about cutting performances but YT does have the unfortunate 10 min limit and Arietta - one of the most sublime pieces of music ever written by anyone - indeed takes longer than that (thank goodnes for that, sometimes I wish it should never end)

  • yMew88-Stalin let only her-get away with disagreeing with him. Others died in huge numbers.and for far less.

  • puulostroff99:

You are correct-but only up to a point. Stalin was not only ruthless but capricious-compare his treatment of Bulgakov whose "Days of the Turbins" he so highly favored as a play but whome he let anguish in obscurity, half starved. Compare it with his treatment of Mandelshtam (or Meyerhold or many others). Yudina was by far not a unique example.

BTW, I grew up there. My family was only allowed to return to Moscow from far north of Russia after Stalin died.

  • yMew88-I believe that I said nothing positive about Stalin-one of the worst butchers in history. My statements were only concerning his association with Maria Yudina. FYI my paternal grand- parents were from Russia, and their original name Ostrovski-is also typically Russian.

  • paulostroff99:

I did not allude to any positive comments about Stalin in your post; I merely said you were correct partially only when you said that Stalin let only Yudina get away with disagreeing with him. I pointed out examples of others being allowed off the hook if Stalin liked their work. Capricious I think was the word I used but just to be polite. For examples of vastly divergent treatment compare that Mandelshtam and Bulgakov or that of Akhmatova and Tsvetaeva.

  • A beautiful demonstration of every possible shade of micro-accelerandi,rallentandi and tenuti. And perhaps most masterful is the continual suspenseful playing with our exprectations. Why anyone would not do that is BEYOND ME.

  • Dear Smith, I know that you don't like Argerich, but in the short extract of this rondo we can find on YouTube played by her, I find her far more moving . At the beginning Yudina gives almost the impression of reading at sight. All those hesitations disturb me. With Argerich the music flows naturally and as much expressively. However as a whole I like this interpretation by Maria Yudina, and according to this I think it would be nice to listen her in Beethoven.

  • Dear Gerard,Thank you for your thoughts.Yudina isn't reading or hesitating.

She is simply standing before the great void as did God in Genesis. We've quantified eternity as an artifice to help with things like engineering. But it doesn't exist.

  • Argerich (& most of the rest)never dispense with this artificial contrivance.I'm sorry

infinity disturbs U,because I assure U that if God were to have presented your life in such a predictable manner(as you yearn for in music),you'd be as sad as I am when I hear such delusions.

  • Finally we get someone who plays Mozart with a style appropriate to Mozart's era.Not only is she expressively focused in all regards, she has all the flexible timing within the phrase that most of her 20th century compatriots don't have.Fascinating and moving.BRAVO!!!!
