  • i thought it was poorly written. harry goes after snape, he shoots a spell, snape blocks it and all he can say is i am the half blooded prince. i was like okay when did that come up in conversation. i know he knows harry had his book but snape actually seemed bad in the book and here it looked like he was just saying it so we know. snape could have seemed more aggressive and talked to harry about using his spell instead of just sayin im the hbp in case you were wondering. thats just one scene.

  • i thought this movie was shit. until the last 20 minutes. the last 20 minutes, with the breakdown of malfoy. the cave scene. dumbledore's death. harry chasing snape down to hagrid's house and dumbledore's tribute were some of the best scenes in potter movie history. but still. the book tells a better story.

  • How on earth can people say that HBP lacked emotion?? Were you awake during any part that Draco was on screen? Were you conscious when all the teachers and students held up their wands in memory of Dumbledore?? I think that this is the 2nd best film in the series, the first being DH part 1. Yes I know that they didn't explain all the horcruxes and they left out the battle in the end, but I say that if you want the entire story of HP, then read the books!

  • I meant the scene at Ron's house where the death eaters attacked them. Yeah, everybody tells me the movie was awful, but I still really enjoyed it.

  • I personally thought this one was the best one, the cinematography in the swamp was amazing!

  • Wow JD Speaks my mind :3

  • I just love the music in the trailers when it shows the title, the normal harry potter theme remixed. lol just great movie.

  • Why do people dislike Goblet of Fire? I seriously would like to know. Did it ruin something from the book? As someone who has not read the books I would never call it a bad movie.

I personally felt that the movies have been lacking ever since GoF, mainly because they apparently left out alot from the books and the movies made little sense at times.

  • @BladeStrike i read the books and im confused shitless as well. gof was the best i though. it was emotional, action packed, nothing too important was left out. the maze in the book was better i thought but nothing i minded. shit got real but idk why more people didnt like it. s'damn shame it is

  • Eric likes twilight and hates harry potter...........YUP hes gay

  • Oh boy. I just realized how little sense the movie makes if you haven´t read the book.

  • I liked it.. but not very much.. It was okay, everything looked beautiful. but it was like they just read the story didn't like it and threw it away.. the book was awesome.. what did they do to make the movie so baaaaad. the first part was boring, the jokes where just plain wrong. but the acting was good. I loved draco, bellatrix, snape, dumbledore and many others. so i didn't really like the movie. but i still had to cry at the end because dumbledore died, he was one of my favorite characters..

  • This film was alright, not the best HP movie, the worst is Goblet Of Fire, best is Prisoner Of Azkaban.

  • I personally enjoyed the film, but I agree 100% with JD,the plot is good enough, there´s no need to screw it up.If you´re gonna change/add stuff, let it be SMALL things, like the funny gags of POA,that had really no major relevance for the main story.I think the bad thing with this film is that they changed what were, imo, the best 2 moments of the book, the only ones that DIDN´T have to b changed:the harry/ginny kiss in front of everyone and dumbledore´s death while harry was petrified

  • yea uhmm JD and Eric i sooooo agree with you guys. Honeslty i amost cried when i saw it. i kept b****ing through out the movie and some fool sitting next to me kept asking me why was i upset. I wanted to *POW* right in the kisser! but eriously there are parts that were taken out fro this film that ought to have been there because they do play an importnt role in the next flms. what i dont seem to comprhend is how can JKR agree with the script. I know for a fact she looks over them.

  • i loved this movie but i disagree with you guys cuz it's a different movie but i agree that we should demand more of the movies and azkaban was the bestthey should've bring alfosno cuaron but since it's all about the movie warner bros. let Yates directed cuz order of the phoenix and half blood prince are the ones that grossed the more money

  • why the hell did they have a scene where they burn the burrow? that never happened!!!

  • To show the threat of Voldemort and let the trio experience it, rather than read about it like in the books.

  • Since I am OBSESSED with HP, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince was AWESOME, but I do have to say that David Yates seriously needs to watch his movies before he releases them. There was WAY TOO MUCH romance, and not enough action. The whole 2 1/2 hours of the movie was love, and even when Malfoy was going to the Room of Requirement and it was supposed to be like "Oh no whats he going to do?!!" there was a couple snogging on the right side of the screen. But I LOVED the comedy in the romance.

  • I have to ask in the Half Blood Prince book, did Ron have issues with Ginny and Harry? I mean honestly was there a Ginny and Harry in the book that was not really in the film?

  • Hopefully since they're going to make two movies out of the last book they won't be as likely to screw it up.

Ususally when they cut stuff out form the movies is because of time. So long as they put some effort into the next two flims and they don't do anything stupid, the last movies will do well.

By the way that Harry Potter and the Raging Hormones/Horny Potter and the Half Dead Flick was frickin' halarious.

  • These people left out all kinds of important elements of the story such as the majority of the memories that tell about Voldemort's origins, The Battle of the Astronomy Tower(D.A. & The Order vs The Death Eaters), and a few other things.

  • i hate 3 it was so fucking retarded

  • perfect in almost every way ;)

  • This film should have been called Harry Potter and the Raging Hormones or Horny Potter and the Half Dead Flick. I am a huge fan of the books and I read somewhere that even Rowling herself was disappointed with the film. I only hope they make it up on the next two movies cause this one is just the worst in the series and it hasn't been so good since Prisoner of Azkaban.

  • i agree i felt that this movie's only popurse is money.. and it is.

  • its 7 not 8

  • no its 8. they're making the 7th be 2 movies.

  • I read all the books and completely disagree. I know everyone says this, but its a movie not the book. Its not supposed to be the book or rival it in any way. Its meant to make money and I feel like this movie was really the most loyal to its inspiration..the book. The only significant thing that they left out is what the other horxcuxes could be, but could easily fix that in the next one. They didn't leave anything else out which truly is important like those bodies you mentioned not important

  • I'm dissapointed about the movie, and since you ahve read the books too, i just want to ask.

Isn't it a bit weird that dumbledore is away from school and harry, hermione, ron wonders where he is. Then dumbledore wants harry to get the memory from slughorn.

And when harry and dumbledore watches the memory, it hit's like a bomb. Oh NO, I NEVER THOUGHT OF THAT, dumbledor thinks.

Oh wait? Why were you away from school then in the first place?!?!

They really ruined the movie for me.

  • I absoloutley agree with everything JD says on this film. The focus of the book was nothing like the focus of the movie. Scenes were added that we completley made up, and imporntant parts of the book were nowhere to be seen( Death Eaters vs D.A) Better do better on HPATDH!!

  • Get a haircut, eric, u ding dang hippie.

  • I loved the movie! Well, don't take my word for your opinion. I'm a easy critic. The reason why all the HP movies might not seem the same is because, There is a different director for most of

them. They should have kept the same director from the first two. He made sure all that was important, to be put in. These guys focus on keeping the HP movies shorter.

  • HELLLOOO!!!!!!

The first two movies were for the books that were shorter than the others. It had NOTHING to do with the directors!!! How is the director supposed to put in all the stuff from the books. If he did, the movies would be 10 hours long!!! Though he could've put in the vital scenes (like the vital memories) instead of the Burrow scene that wasn't needed.

  • when i came back from the film I was so dissapionting i thought that evryone in the world is disaspiontig as well but then i couldnt beliaeved it all these review/video responce puting people are talking how they like the movie! HOW THEY LIKED THE MOVIE !!!?? that was worst film in HP EVER! i thought of buying new web cemera abd put review from myself but after a week of priemere it was kinda late but i coudnt have it better any other way then u guys! I'm subscring right now!

  • I know I felt almost a traitor in myself about how much I disliked the film, I kept it in and in...then my mum asked me like three days later and I just yelled out "I hate this film!"

She thinks its because I'm a big book fan, bu thats not it. I accept the changes from book to movie like in OOTP, I liked watching it though.

I'm not sure what it was-- the additional scenes really made no sense not even adding narrative to non-book readers...but overall the tone. Where was the impending...

  • (continue)... threat. Voldemort's supposed to be like a fog pressing on the window. The emotional thread was all wrong, sure the romance is in the book and makes good 'viewing' but only if its underpinned by the darkness.

I never ever thought I'd say this but I'm not sure I want to see the last film now, especially with pg rating. How can they make it as dark as it needs to be.

Sorry I rambled, but the tone (emotional content) all wrong and I'm surprised more don't feel the same.

  • (continued)... Though he could've put in the vital scenes (like the vital memories) instead of the Burrow scene that wasn't needed.

  • Thank you so much for being honest about how off the movie was. For people who didn't read the book, I could understand how they can appreciate the movie. I can't see how a real Harry Potter fan could actually be satisfied with the end product where they lingered over high school drama and rushed through the real plot lines.Overall, this movie took on way too much of a passive tone and was a complete drag to watch since nothing more than little moments of kissing, seemed to be the main plot.

  • FINALLY, someone who doesn't praise this overrated movie. It's a terrible adaptation but it's also terrible as a film!! NO SUSPENSE! BORING! And Fenrir Greyback doesn't even have any lines! The only purpose this film seemed to serve was make Bellatrix and Severus seem more evil than they are. I can't decide which is worse, Goblet of Fire or Half-Blood Prince. Warner Bros delayed the film NINE months to get a blockbuster this summer, and this is what we get? MAJOR LETDOWN

  • dude goblet of fire is the second most awesome harry potter movie order of the phoenix is is worse than half blood prince the best one yet of course the third movie

  • 1. I'm not a dude.

    2. Have you even READ the books? Goblet of Fire deviates so much from the book and is filled with tons of plot holes that makes me wonder if the guy who directed it has any idea what the book is like. Order of the Phoenix was definitely rushed but it didn't miss out things terribly which made it acceptable. When watching Half-Blood Prince, I feel like I'm watching Twilight again!! The whole movie revolves around romance and pointless battle scenes that serve no real purpose.

  • sorry for the late reply and sorry for calling you dude anyway my point is goblet of fire TO ME was a good movie cause you dont have to read the book to understand and enjoy it order of the phoenix on the other hand was very confusing and rushing movie i have to read the 600 pages book just to get clear picture of the movie any way i dont read books number 1,2,3,4 and i have to say book number 7 was a HUGE disappointment to me the way voldermort R.I.P was sheesh.......

  • Each to their own opinion I guess. Phoenix contained more information than Goblet of Fire and therefore is more difficult to convey in an understandable movie. At least the 4th movie didn't completely screw up the events in the book (which is exactly what the 6th does). I suggest you read the 4th book, because it may be the best in the entire series. And yes, the way Voldemort died was SO bad and cliched in the whole love matter and it made me hate Dumbledore for turning out a complete hypocrite

  • Yet, Order of the Phoenix was, by far, the most important. It brought almost ALL explanation and story there is to the series. Order of the Phoenix may have seen slow, but it was needed, as they had to include more than usual from the book into the movie. Also, it was a new feel of Harry Potter, bringing a huge amount of realism to the franchise.

I do agree with The Half Blood Prince being the best, though. Most realistic, in my opinion.

  • i completly agree worst one for me because they like you said added the burrow scene which i could have done without and didnt even add the big fight at the end all the added scenes were really unneeded and really let me down on a whole

  • i haven't seen the film yet, but this ruins it already

i think david yates is a very good director he makes great films, but i've noticed he doesn't take much consideration of the harry potter book fans

he makes movies "HE" thinks people will like and messes up the story line completely/or just tweaks it actually

  • it was awesome

  • I agree with both of you. Everything was all wrong...they left out all the important scenes and added in stuff that didn't make sense. No final battle at the end like in the book!!!!! That was what really made me mad. Overall I was very disappointed :(

  • I really like this new guy you've been partnered with, Eric. Seems cool. Knows what he's talking about. Nice beard, too.

  • if HP6 was HP1 it would have never been famous thats all i have to say

  • yay, jd's back. no offense eric ur equally awesome

  • I totaly agree with you guys.

and that movie should be renamed "Harry Potter and the Love Potion".

  • I agree with you there. They spent way too much time on the romances and not on the plot (especially the whole Half-Blood Prince plot line!)

  • Yeah I barely heard anything about the half blood prince

  • Well, even though I am disappointed I wouldn't be that harsh. I do agree with you that they added TOO much in there that wasn't there like the burning of the Burrow. That was the worst decision they could have ever made and I do not understand why JK allowed them to put it in there. The train station pick up of Harry was just f-ing stupid. I feel that the wand lighting should not have replaced the funeral especially when that was suppose to be Harry's heroic turning point.

  • yeh nothing happened. it was funny... but it was prob the worst movie.. way too rushed

  • You guys said it perfectly. This was not only a weak adaptation, but nothing happened. They took a lot of the good stuff out of the book and replaced it with crap that didn't need to be there. Personally, I don't think David Yates is a good filmmaker. Not if he could make something this mediocre out of such promising material.

  • Thank you, JD-- you said it so well. We can only hope they step it up for the last two movies.

  • scratch my last comment, I heard him say they are breaking it up.

  • Yes 8 HP films for 7 HP books.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows part 1 and part 2. I'm assuming that's gonna total 4 to 5 hours of screen time to get as much of the book into the movies as possible. I hope they don't disappoint...

  • maybe I'm mistaken, but 8 Harry Potters? Are they breaking the last one up, or...? o.o

  • yeah

  • look it up on Wikipedia they have news feeds from WB and personal interviews and sourced it wont steer you wrong Also John Williams will return to do the score for the next two films. This is a horrible review and how is 2:30 hours of closly related material not enough How could you say that The only way u make any art good is audience appeal and the movie did that. they intentionally did shit to not distract the audience so that they understood what was going on. this is not directed to Mikadia

  • Closely related or not, I felt the characters were amorphous and the "mystery" was almost non-existent, and I've never read any of the books, so I have nothing to compare it too and it still didn't work for me. - Eric

  • yeah, 8. they're slitting the last one into to long parts!

  • they should have tim burton in the last 2....

  • he is busy

  • I completely, totally agree with everything that JD said. Like, literally, exactly my reaction when I thought about the movie after watching it. I really built it up for myself beforehand and, though I think that there were some parts that they did well, overall, the movie was pretty much a letdown.

  • Harry Potter, both books and films have always been overrated.

  • The books are so much better than the movies though!!

I felt more tense reading the half-blood prince than watching the film

  • Right on, guys. I've done two 10 minute videos on here myself and the best I can give it is 2.5 out of 5.

  • you suck

your definetly wrong about the movie it was awsome and i've read all the books twice

  • lol if u think the that the movie was awesome then u dont know shit abut harry potter lol

  • WTF they are so wrong their the only once who i'v heard that didint like the movie...

  • so much extra useless garbage and not enough story. the 6th book was all about explaining what was going on and the movie did a very bad adaptation on it.

  • I wasn't planning on seeing this movie until a group of friends sort of cajoled me into going. needless to say I got what I expected. The books were very enjoyable, but the movies not so much.

  • i was beyond pissed at how bad this movie turned out... more HBP and less romance plz! they left out dobby, kreature, fleur, and myrtle :(

  • Goblet of Fire and Order of the Phoenix were atrocious compared to HBP, you both seem to think they were better? No. Sorry. I thought the romance in this film was too dragged out, and some scene were just too awkward (Ginny tying Harry's shoe?!). The romance was too much, they could have used some of that time for better explanations on the horcruxes, inferi, greyback, and--the HBP! I wish I could edit some of the lines in the film too. For me, HBP is right after PoA, which was THE best one.

  • horrible film, i am not suprised SADLY...im more suprised some people love it, that have read the book. I mean..i have a list of shit they left out, but mainly, THE BATTLE AT THE END! I mean, thats where rons bro becomes bitten by the wearwolf, thats where all the action in the book is, they leave out snapes memory, they left out explaining the room of requirment, they left out ron sucking at being a keeper, they left out the REAL explination of the horcruxes...horrible horrible movie. so sad

  • Order of The Phoenix was the best book

  • I didn't like this movie too. It was too fast, a lot of things where just thrown in without even being explained, and the last part, who should have been the most emotional and interesting, was like... half an hour long?! I liked the previous movies, but this just didn't feel right, even more if you know how it goes in the book.

I didn't even cry. I just laughed at the funny moments, but the true meaning of the story of the half-blood prince was totally lost.

  • i waited so long for this one and it was so disappointing. They missed out so much. I agree it was boring. What happen to the battle at astronomy tower? They don't need the scene with Ron ingested the love potion. I too am nervous with Yate directing the next film.

  • im still in shock by how dissapointed i was with this movie

    WTF happened???

it was too slow and i think the music score is not helping the movie too

it was like a tv movie

  • agreed... WTF is right. Cut WAY to much out.

  • Funny how J. K. Rowling likes the movies.

  • during the whole movie EVERYONE is waiting for something exciting to happen, the cave scene was boring and quickly done, there was no fight scene in the castle, memories left out.....like fuck

    just pisses me off

  • Cave scene was ok but the rest sucked.. In the book there is more half blood prince stuff and less love story.. GRRRRRRRRRRR

  • i completely agree movie was pretty boring

  • You guys are SPOT ON, absolutely correct about the movie/movies.

  • Thanks! Check out the great comments on the print review on our Scene-Stealers website. A lot of really good mature, honest discussion going on there...

  • I can't believe you're praising POA, I thought that was the WORST of all the movies, because the scenes were so screwed up and out of order, TONS of details were left out and TONS of things were left completely unexplained to those who haven't read the books, I mean of all the movies that one strayed the FARTHEST from the book. Sorry to say it but you can't really review something you truly don't understand, read the books then come back and try again.

  • Yes, silvermoon, thank you for saying that. =] I agree with you. Prisoner of Azkaban was my favorite book, and I was livid about the movie- from the poor casting choices to the unneccessary Jamaican head in the Knight Bus. Haha. Eric wouldn't understand. ;]

  • JD and I both agree it was the best film, but only he has read the book. Conclusion: It works great as a movie by itself and ALSO works great if you've read the book DESPITE the details left out. Half-Blood Prince didn't work for either of us. Conclusion: They left the wrong things out--not enough detail for a movie and certainly not enough for fans of the book that know the real motivations of their beloved characters.

  • Finally! Some sane people! This movie sucked! It doesn't even matter about credible adaptation, if the writers can't write a compelling story or romance. For Goodness sakes, I say we bring on Christopher Nolan and fire Yates!

  • Oh yes! Yes! Fire Yates! I soooo completely agree with you on that! These movies have been missing something ever since he took over! I do think this one was better than Order. I think the reason for that is because Steve Kloves the original script writer was back. Such a pity we didn't have a good director coming back as well. I was hoping it would show some spark because Kloves was back but kinda afraid because Yates remained.

  • continued: Still has me worried about the last two as well now that Yates is going to take the series to it's conclusion. These movies could be more brilliant than they are. Such sad waste. :(

  • Why are you reveiwing the film? you didnt read the book? so who cares what you think.

  • Again: JD did (twice), I didn't. And again: You shouldn't have to read the book for a good movie to work. It should stand on its own (and with the rest of the movie series).

  • five of my friends went to see this;

    they all loved it..

  • I fuckign Agree DUDE IT FUCKING SUCKED IT WAS LIKE A COMEDY GOD DAMMIT I STOOD IN LINE FOR 2 HOURS IN COLD AND FUCKING LAME ASS BORING SHIT BTW RIP DUMBLEDOORE i knew he was gona die and fUCK SNAPEEEEEEE!!

  • I Agree Prisoner of Azkaban still remains the Best on in all the H.P movies so far!!! This movie was...okay I guess...

  • this movie's plot is too complex for ur stupid ass, this is such a dumb review

  • Agreed

  • u suk this was the best movie stupid heads i saw it its awesome read the freaking book

  • Agreed

  • I don't understand why they had to invent action scenes when in the book there was a big one in Hogwarts at the end that they wound up not even showing in the movie. I thought it was a great movie though. I enjoyed myself throughout the whole thing. I think the fifth one was my favorite so far.

  • I actually enjoyed it more than most of the other HP6. Felt like a kind of teenage comedy with a twist.

  • Finally someone who agrees with me on the Potter film rankings. Havent read the books, Prisoner was my favorite, and they got progressively "meh" after that. Havent seen this one yet

  • I never read the books, but I really like it.

  • Read the books! They're an absolute masterpiece compared to the movies!! You won't regret reading them!

  • Loved what the guy with the beard said. I read the book and I was extremely dissapointed. It Missed a lot of things from the book and added a lot of nonsense. worst harry potter of all.

  • they had so many funny parts it took away from the real focus of the movie. I think maybe if they shortened the beginning of the movie then they would have had more time to do the ending right, which I think they did a horrible job with. The cave scene was well done, but i was expecting a really big intense exciting ending with harry chasing snape through the battle at hogwarts. i also think that the part with the burrow was rather pointless, it made no sense. hopfully #7 will be better.

  • i agree mostly with these points saw the movie on opening night and when it was over the people i went with were just raving the movie and when they asked me what i thought i said it was ok, and they looked at me like i was the anti-christ

  • i totally AGREE!! although im not totally disapointed about the movie. i am a bit disapointed. bc the entire movie was short based on their little love triangle they had going on! and the BIG action part came at the end.. and it didnt have that much BIG of a effect on me... sad.. i give 5/10

  • agree 100% with you, if you're making a book adaptation you don't need to attempt to enhance it, if it's managed to get on screen then i'm pretty sure it can survive standing on it's own

  • COULD have, sorry, had they actually set this one up correctly beforehand. You have the horcruxes, yes, but you haven't learned at all how to destroy them. The absence of defence against the dark arts classes (with the important inferi scene), the lack of development or explanation of the half blood prince or his book, the absence of any information on greyback, the incorrect vision of the sectumsempra (it's suppose to cut, not simply cause undershirt bleeding) and much more really do ruin this film

  • could have perhaps survived the love if they distributed it correctly without simply, as done in both goblet of fire and this, taking a huge chunk in the middle of the movie, away from the main storyline, and spending it entirely on relationship. It kills the pace and actually bores the audience...even kids aren't that interested in it. I'm sorry, but they're splitting the last film which while yes has a bit of material could easily be done in one movie...

  • goblet of fire, order of the phoenix and half blood prince have all suffered by the unnecessary emphasis on love, while they were in the books they weren't mentioned altogether and with this much detail, they were panned out efficiently and left where they belong...in the background.

Notice how the first three movies were much liked, even if the third one missed out everything that explained the relationship between harry and snape, because they did not emphasise or waste time on love

  • the director had fine pacing and killed everything when he decided to ignore the main plot and spend about half to a complete hour and the bullshit romance, my parents even said after watching this that it isn't a love story. Had they replaced the love crap with the missing scenes this movie would have been the best...and if they perhaps just slowed down the death scene at the end just a tad so you can actually get emotion out of it...talking the arrival of snape btw

  • the movie missed out so much, as mentioned by you guys. The most annoying thing beyond this movie is the fact that they still haven't introduced Bill, and the whole greyback thing with him and the wedding in the seventh book...how is that going to work? it's a pivotal scene in terms of catalyst for the main storyline but yeah...

I quote from a reviewer, the plot was made into a subplot and the subplots made to serve as the plot.

  • this movie dissapointed being a hugh fan of the books i didn't like some things in the other 5 movies but i still think that did an exellent job but as i watched this movie it just left me feeling pissed off they were trying to put too much comedy in this movie the plot wasn't explained very well most ppl i herd after watching the movie left confused and couldn't understand why it was called the half blood prince the two scenes i hated the most was the burning of the burrow and aragog's funeral

  • the problem is people compare the movies to the books and expect the EXACT same thing to happen in terms of story plot. it should be considered as two separate things.

  • i think it was amazing, even though it wasn't exactly like the book.

  • " is the sixth in the sereis of eight" there are only seven books. is deathly hallows going to be two diffrent movies?

  • yes

  • they are so right...its just unbalance and unsatisfactory as far as especially in the action and no big lunch in the end which left people disappointed.

  • UH I thought this movie was good, but the burrow is supposed to be in the next movie, but they burned it down...... that part confused me.

  • there arent words in the english language to describe that FUCKHOLE movie so i will just call it Harry Shithole and the Half-assed Piece of shit cock-sucking child-molesting incest-provoking beastiality-inducing stupidass excuse for a niggers COCK

  • you need some calm down juice. It's just a movie get a life.

  • agreed

  • that stupidass fucking nigger director can suck my harry ass cock/meat rod/pork shaft cus that movie sucked huge ass balls. FUCK that movie and FUCK the director, they left out so much shit, and added in so much shit and that can suck my freakin ass! MOVIE SUCKED NIGGER BALLS BITCH FTW

  • ALL Y'ALL THAT LIKE THIS MOVIE ARE A BUNCH OF CORNBREAD LOVIN STRAIGHT OUTA THE ZOO FUCKING PORCH MONKEYS.....i rest my case

  • MOVIE SUCKED ASS

  • great review. that movie SUCKED **** ****** C**K A**... having read the series twice, they left waaaaaaay too much out of the movie, and the director basically re-wrote the book. they really have their work cut out for them now

  • i heard the bad part of the film, although it gets great reviews, is that the final battle is not that good. Yates should talk to Peter Jackson

  • the film was boring, they took out the big climactic battle, the plot was shit, they already fucked up the next 2 films by burning the burrow.

  • the movie is actually really gud its realli funni iswell!!bt dah endin wasnt great nd its nutin lyk d book bt sur yal hav dat

  • YOU SUCK the movie was amazing the best out of the series!!!

  • You mean 7 movies not 8!

  • the last movie is to be split in two films

  • My son and I enjoyed it. We just got into HP recently, watching the first 5 films on video, and are reading #1. I felt very drawn into the characters' stories in this one, although there wasn't much 'action.' See me review it with my 7yr.-old at 'Gab and Dad'!

  • the film is MUCH BETTER than these two have made it out from

  • I can see where they are coming from.

But i still really liked this film. I recommend reading the book before seeing it as the film does tell the story very well. But apart from that the actual film is very well done.

    3.5/5 stars from me.

  • disagree'd 100%

the movie was amazing, end of story.

    sorry. :/

  • the new director sucks

  • I think you guys balance out all the good reviews that dont take into account both sides of the argument. And I love your passion for the books man :P you said what we're all thinking!

  • men u missed all the great performances: tom felton, Gambon, Alan rickman. i think you should review your review. what about the scene with Tom Riddle? I am a die hard HP fan, have read the book several times and I LOVED this one.

  • NOOOO!!!! I've been looking forward to this movie for the past 6 months! I'm going to like this movie no matter what you say...

  • Okay it's hard not to like the movie because anything Harry Potter i absolutely love. But I agree with what you said... The Movies and the Books and different things. The movie was beautiful visually but they did seriously mess somethings up that are to play roles in Deathly Hallows. Hello? The Diadem! But guess we'll see.

  • oh and dont listen to these old faggots

  • this movie was ACE!!!!! just saw it and it was THE best!!

  • David Yates? The David Yates who did the amazing State of Play miniseries? Hunh.

See now I can't agree with JD, I never thought the books were anything special. The films presented an opportunity to further elaborate on why kids enjoy these stories so much, improve on Rowling much like Peter Jackson improved on Tolkien (and he bloody did...)

But my reaction to the films so far has been one of 'meh', with the possible exception of Cuaron, whose contribution was more "s'alright".

  • Good honest review!!

  • Bad review hated the review you made it look like a load of trash and it isnt. I dont see how you think the 4th and 5th were bad u guys suck

  • well at the beginning you blew that the seventh is gonna be in two parts

  • I most definitely had an emotional reaction.

  • y doesnt chris columbus direct anymore?

  • Because he sucks at directing HP films, and Everybody can agree on that, HP fan or not

  • then y does everyone say the early movies were the best ones? and those were the ones he directed

  • who says that? Dude, i read reviews like crazy and all they compliment Columbus on is finding the trio and how they've not misbehaved. I don't know where you read from, but critics praise POA more, which was filmed by Alfonso Cuaron. They bash the first two alot by calling it "candy-ass, childish, mechanical, no character development." and i could go on and on.

  • they wanna bring it back, HAVE CHRIS COLOMBUS DIRECT HE DID AMAZING STAYING WITH THE BOOKS

  • Because he was dealing with 200 page novels xD Was basically two very literal adaptions with little imagination included. Not to say he did a bad job with the material though.

  • true. If david yates screwes up deathly hallows, I will burn his house down, he has 6 hours of film to turn a 700 something page book into a movie, there is no way he can fail

  • I guess you ARE entitled to your own opinion, but it seems to me like you are one of the very few to have this opinion. Maybe you're just not the demographic.

  • "Not the demographic" is not really an excuse. Many of the films mysteries dont work because their central conceit is that we arent supposed to be sure whats really happening. Yet each one of these plot points are robbed of their inherent drama because they are all too obvious. If the series is supposed to mature and be about becoming an adult, the filmmakers would be smart to start treating the viewer like one.

  • I'm just very confused right now xD. The reviews I have seen seem to be emphasing the fact that this is a movie for adults... guess I'll know for sure when the movie comes out in Norway on July 17th.

  • Why is Harry Potter 4 getting the shaft for some reason...that movie is the best in the series and ill see what half prince has in storefor us....but part four is the one that made the series fantastic.....Whos with me???

  • I AM!!

I AGREE THE 4 MOVIE WAS AWESOME!!

  • I agree OMG, I thought I was the only one who absolutely loved that movie. Better than the apparently loved POA and miles ahead of OOTP.

I have a very good feeling for HBP still though.... trying not to get my hopes up too much.

  • Darn. Every time it comes out to the new Harry Potter movie, I hope and pray that it will be good. I think, "They couldn't possibly have messed up AGAIN. Surely they have learned from their mistakes." But apparently not.

    ... Lucky number seven?

  • What are you talking about? All reports suggest that the movie is beyond awesome.... I'm still buffering this vid though.
