He had paranoid schizophrenia. BIG difference there. He was probably a very intelligent person (I say probably because I've never met the man), but he was constantly tormented by the "demon" voices in his head. They constantly belittled him, calling him (in his own words) "a jerk, a bum, and an asshole". He may have seemed retarded to others because these voices were ruining his life and eating away at his sanity. And yet, he still held on. RIP

I had the pleasure of meeting Wesley in the late 90's, and he was definitely one of the most unique people I have ever come across. He was NOT RETARDED (just for future reference, cousinodude). He seemed to have a special ability to read people, to really look into your soul and suss out what type of person you were. We chatted, and he head butted me numerous times before the show, and even called me up on stage to head butt him. Amazing experience! He was fabulous & he is missed!
