I remember the '86 telethon where he said "God D---" when he was saying the people were in the casinos instead of being in the theater watching the telethon. This was before a gospel choir came in and he later said "Praise The Lord".
Also, he recently was arrested at the Las Vegas airport for carrying a concealed weapon. Good work with the MDA, but I have a feeling some people and TV stations have given Jerry and the MDA telethon the "Old Yeller" treatment.

People should just see this for what it is: a joke that's perhaps out of date. If you find it offensive, fine. It doesn't mean that he should apologize for it. It wasn't like the Michael Richards fiasco which was meant to hurt people. This was just a light-hearted joke and if you are offended by it, I believe you have a sensitivity problem and I honestly don't know how you get through a single day in the real world.

Jerry Lewis has been around for a long time and a joke like that would not have raised eyebrows twenty or thirty years ago. Nowadays, people are not only more sensitive (I would say overly sensitive) but eager to see any celebrity fall from grace and often gladly facilitate this fall by relentlessly attacking a person over any slip-up, no matter how small.

Hour 18 he said. Honestly, if that was the worst he let slip out, that's pretty good in my opinion. He's an old man, and the fact that he goes as strongly as he does is extremely impressive. There was no malice or hate in the statement. He's a comedian, he was trying to be funny, and like some people have already said, you can tell that he realized the mistake as soon as he said it.
