  • Yeah, this same storm affected Cincinnati and there was damage and injuries and tornadoes...BECAUSE OF YOU GUYS. lol

  • Oh yeah, it was impressive. I'm in the 52nd & Mitthoeffer area in a manufactured home not far from there. We were starting to get nervous, LOL. There was lots of dime-sized hail:, it looked like it had snowed. Great footage, would love to see you post more weather footage like this.

  • That's about where my brother lives, in the same sort of structure- I half expected him and his family to come hide in the basement with us... its happened before.

You're very kind, thanks for the compliment! I shot some of the second wave of storms which came through last night, the ones in the 7pm hour- the first wave hit so fast I wasn't able to get out with my camera before the rain came. I'm waterproof, but it isn't. The 2nd storm wasn't as bad, but the clouds were amazing! Took stills 2

  • Very alarming, indeed!

  • Yeh, with that inland sea up there, you don't see this sort of thing so much!

  • crazy stuff. we were in castleton that afternoon.

  • DUDE! That's one place I'd not want to have been. Where I was shooting from, I could have been in a basement in 90 seconds or fewer, and very often the storms skip over our neighborhood, being in the midst of the hills and valleys along Fall Creek. I missed the last one to actually come through here- I was off playing Euchre at church... came home and the neighborhood was cordoned off.

  • That's a wall cloud feature. Notice how it is dropped, right on the precip core. It is rotating and quickly followed from behind with an RFD/Clear Slot

  • I thought so- we were right on the edge of the tornado warning, and my brother who lives just a few miles (about 6) north east of me was getting hammered with hail and rain.

  • Yeah it never touched down, and likely would have been reported by some people as a tornado touchdown. It's in the right part of this particular t-storm to happen. It did produce a decent downburst though. If you look carefully, you can see leaves getting blown in your direction from the downburst

  • You're very knowledgeable, and most generous in sharing your knowledge, thank you! I've always been fascinated by weather... really all of nature... but I never learned the proper vocabulary to describe it as you have.

My eye knows something worth while when I see it, but I don't necessarily know the scientific / meteorological details of why it is significant.

  • Glad I could help yas out. Yeah the key to watch for on a tornadic storm is the back/usually W/SW Side of the storm. Also watch for rotation in a lowered cloud feature there, called a wall cloud and if there is rotation, watch the bottom of the cloud and the ground level for any type of swirling motions or debris

  • Good to know- I just lucked out that I happened to be looking at that quadrant when I walked out the door when I heard the sirens going off.

I figured I'd be safe enough venturing out from looking at the detailed radar. Though I love watching weather, I'm a married man and also am a "human scarecrow" to keep the homo sapiens v. verminus away from my elderly mother, so I'm not looking to having a Dorothy like experience. ;>

  • nice stuff man!

  • Thank you!
