  • I loved this scene in the movie. Some of the best acting I've seen from Nick in awhile. 2:57 onward was what made this scene the best. Nolte's psycho ramblings are just what I wanted to see here.

  • Trunks: NOOOOOOOOOOO!

  • @Bettlejack lol i actually have a video about that

  • BEST-drama scene of Film

  • Say what you will about this somewhat disappointing movie, but THIS scene is pure genius.

  • 4:05 LOL

  • LOL 4:15

  • Ha Ha I just remembered back in 2003 in theathers a lot of people laughed at the part at 4:15.

  • WOW! This one was placed in the TvTropes' Chewing the Scenery page! LAAAARRRGE HHAAAAM SMASH!!!!

  • NICK NOLTE, THE reason this version was better.

  • This movie was awsome yes I know due to the long boring scenes people were furious.. this is what a real hulk fan loves, his battle with internal conflict and his emotions. Hulk needed to deal with these problems in order to make him truly the greatest super hero.

  • I like Bruce's father's excuse for wanting to adsorb the hulks power, like the visionary dude speech against society thing. its starts about 3:05 to 4:20

  • Stop what?! STOP. WHAT?!

  • @3rdminister Yeah he is. I'm sorry, but he's the man in this movie.

  • David Banner is like a super-hippie.

  • Nolte is good. No?

  • Me too this scene was awesome great acting

  • Ah, the was the scene I was looking for.

This one always stood out to me.

    Thanks for posting!

  • I like this film, say what you like I liked the angle they went with. And Nick Nolte is just flat out badass in anything.

  • I like Ang Lee's version better. Hulk is a hero with a lot of internal conflicts, struggling between emotions and intellect. As a superhero Hulk should be presented that quality in the movie. Ang Lee did a tremendous job brewing that mood.

I understand that a lot of audience just want to see things smashed, hero battles villain, but Hulk isn't always that genre. Many times Bruce saw himself as a villain due to his excessive violence. Hulk is not suppose to be a merry character.

  • whats the of his father

  • My Favorite Part: 4:03

  • that old mans acting is INCREDIBLE.

  • upload the whole movie man....

  • The split screen comic book effect really annoyed me. Yes, we get it's based on a comic book. But Bana was a far better 'Banner' than Norton

  • This may not be the best adaptation of Hulk but it's certainly is a much better movie than the 2008 version.

  • @TwwIX not really their both good but i have to say that the 2008 version is better in some ways

  • lmao @ 4:15

  • Literally this movie sucked beyond compare. However, this scene is amazing and ALMOST redeemed it

  • Dad: Crazy

    Son: Angry

  • Bruce: Maybe once you were my father. But you`re not now and you never will be. David: Oh, is that so? Well, I have news for you. I didn`t come here to see you. I came here to see my son. My real son. The one inside of you. You`re nothing but a superficial shell, a husk of flimsy consciousness, ready to be torn off at a moment`s notice. Bruce: You can take what you like. I don`t care. Just go!

  • Comment removed

  • David: No, son. Listen to me. I found a cure. For me. My cells can transform, too. Absorb enormous amounts of energy. But unlike you, they`re unstable. Son, I need your strength. I gave you life. Now you MUST give it back to me!

  • ERIC BANA MY FAVORITE ACTOR!!! he should have been Hulk in 2008 movie!! it sucked before or bad actors!! the actors in 2003 ARE THE BEST!!! but people want teenage stuff, people want showoff movies!! they dont want good actings, they dont want intense stories like in this movie!!!

  • is there a reason why this film is hated so much?

  • @slyther2 The main reason is that Universal marketed it as a popcorn-action, when it in reality is an intense drama. They gave the movie to a director known for intense, character driven drama films (Ang Lee) and were somehow surprised when their movie turned out to be - a character driven drama piece! In their panicky confusion they probably figured they could recoup their money by misrepresenting it as an action film.

But really, no, there is no reason to hate on it - 'cus it's amazing!

  • @cobbalainen But isn't there a way for a comic book film like this to be both? BOth character driven and a popcorn-action film?

  • @JohanStarDragon Oh absolutely! And Hulk, in my opinion, is a great example of that! It has the over-the-top action scenes (the popcorn bit) and intense scenes of internal conflict and struggle (the character driven drama bit).

I think Universa expected, maybe even WANTED, a "bit, dumb action movie", and had no idea what to do with the complex drama-action they ended up with. So instead, they just pushed the action to the front of the marketing campaign, closed their eyes and hoped for the best.

  • @cobbalainen I agree. Wanted is a piss poor attempt at mixing the nihilistic philosophy of Fight Club with the action and effects of the Matrix. And they think that they're saving grace is having Angelina Joliee half-naked - which doesn't do it for me.

  • @JohanStarDragon

    X-Men Origins: Wolverine.

  • @cobbalainen

How is the Ed Norton remake not better in every way? Ang Lee made a movie about one of the most intense superheroes ever seem like an episode of Law & Order.

  • @yuptydoo Intense in what way? You see, Hitchcock's Psycho was damn intense and didn't have a killer jumping on their victims in a blockbustery way. And to talk about superheroes, Superman 1 was a great movie, yet the main character was not flying trough the airplane wings and lifting islands... simple shots, good drama, good plot.

  • @s

    /watch?v=PSGXERUKBj4

Yes, that was a clip from the actual movie. Good drama? What was the standard in 2003, Power Rangers?

The Incredible Hulk is better than this version in every way. From the special effects to Ed Norton's emotional rapport with his role, there's no weak spot, so to speak. I love Bana and Nolte, but to claim that their thespian prowess makes up for the movie's ridiculously lukewarm action is folly.

Another director could have saved the film. Ang is...Ang =\

  • @yuptydoo I'd rather have a good story (The Hulk 2003), than dull scenes followed by action (The Incredible Hulk 2008).

  • @stepperstear So in Superman 1, spinning the world backwards, causing it to go backward in time, is less insane than lifting an island or flying through airplane wings? Got it.

  • I still don't understand what the father is talking about. His motivation seems to change every two minutes.

  • 4:15 jajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajaja...

  • This scene is just epic. I love how he instigates. "I didn't come here to see you. I came here to see my son, my real son." and later Bruce says, "I'd rather die!" It just shows all the madness and tension between them.

  • STOP WHAT??!!!

  • @DukeSeager favorite part of this scene

  • Half the time I didn't know where the hell these scenes were taking place in this film.

  • I thought he was the Maestro when i first watched this.

  • Spiderman is still one of my fav but I still think it's a better movie.

  • I've always been fascinated with this scene ever since I first saw the movie.I wonder if it would actually be possible to manipulate your genetic code in order to absorb anything you wanted.I mean I wouldn't try it lol but it would be interesting if it could actually be done.

  • @ellipsis97 You never know, perhaps in a secret laboratory somewhere someone probably already has,lol that would explain why there are so many wanted criminals in the world, nobody can find them because they turned into the absorbing man.Whatever!!!

  • my wife just bet me 20 bucks that nick nolte was'nt in the hulk ha ha !!.

  • @remotehog1 Enjoy that 20. LOL

  • oh. i think i get it now. thanks.

  • oh. i think i get it now.

  • can you upload the full fight between hulk and his father? Plz

  • bruces father is dead ...

  • i like this grandpa he said religion infected humanty soul XD

  • brown eyes....get it?.....brown.....EYES

  • @TheSuirad i don't get it really?

  • @ksk9984 i mean brown eye

  • Come on ... with just this scene you can say the 2003 version of Hulk destroy the 2008 version. The acting and the filming of the 2003 version are just amazing and deep. The 2008 version is just about ACTION, ACTION and ...what again? ACTION.

Thank Mr.Ang Lee ... you give us with this movie a wonderful piece of comics art.

  • @MorganParker13 unfortunately, it didn't follow the comics the way most fans would want it. i personally preffer this one over the one in 08. to be honest i think this one had more emotion, action and better music and story... people have critiziced me for enjoying this one and explaining my views. this is the better film. no doubt

  • @crimefighterg33k Oh you're not alone. This is definitely a much more ambitious, well-made film. I think the cast overall is better, and what Lee was trying to do in mimicking the comic panels was really neat. I do think this had it's flaws, but i appreciate where it was striving to go.

The 08 sequel is a much more "play it safe/appease the fans" flick. I like Edward Norton and Tim Roth, but otherwise it's pretty mediocre.

  • @Stigmatainmypants Very much agreed :)

  • @crimefighterg33k agree with u...

the other movie has edwart norton in it.. ( pretty fine but thats it)... this movie instead is awesome..

why did they change everything around? ..

why did they do another movie?.. ..

  • @Deathbringer99699 like i said it didn't follow the comics the way fans wanted it. the way ang lee did it, hulk could stand on his own with intellegence and deep characters. you saw why the hulk reacts the way he does. you saw why Ross felt he was a greater danger than what he was. what was David Banner's motivation? slowly depleting sanity and a distorted sense of fatherly love. Emil Blonsky's? power. why was ross after the hulk08? to cover his ass. why was hulk08 so angry? shit caused by ross

  • @Deathbringer99699 I dont think it was another movie this is part one and the other one in 2008 was part two. as you see, in the end of this movie he was down in the jungles, in 2008 he was in the jungles to start with.

  • is hulks dad the absorbing man

  • @spendiwendi in the comics no this movie yes :l

  • This clip demonstrates an interesting way to say, 'infected humanity's soul'. Here Nolte uses his acting skills to make that line sound like a taunt to Eric Bana's character Hulk, when it isn't really very much of a taunt at all. It is clearly meant to be a volcanic moment of tension between the two characters however the dialogue is not doing them any favours. Nevertheless, Nolte and Bana exchange some impressive growling sounds and save the scene.

  • the only dramatic part i can actually sit though

  • WOW! "Before the pale religions infected humanitys soul". Their rise was violent and their fall will be also.

  • Nolte is amazing.

  • 2:28 he's gonna transform into the hulk in about 3 min.

  • This film had some thought put into it the later was just a mindless piece of garb.

  • This scene is more deeper then it appears :).

  • I can't believe he started balling. What a weak little speck of human trash.

  • This is "Dark knight" good, strong acting and a later incredible action sequence, I can't believe people think this is too talky, this film revolutionized comic book movies, I just wish they couldn've made a sequel to this.

  • @spideyfan2002 Instead we got something better. The Incredible Hulk.

  • @spideyfan2002 exactly !

  • @spideyfan2002

they did but it was a crappy too much action and not enough storyline and sense fucking retarded movie

  • @spideyfan2002 at the end it looked like a set up for a sequel

  • @spideyfan2002 The Dark Knight had a real villain and the hero showed up in the beginning. Here, it takes way too long for the Hulk to appear.

  • @greensucksbluerules Ang Lee's "Hulk" was a project being worked at ever since 1993 and the hulk required extensive use of CGI, Batman didn't need any. You have to establish the characters and make sure the action has some sense into it. Besides, TDK was a sequel, all the characters were established and left more time for action and character development. This film had to establish the Hulk and its characters. Batman, like the Hulk, didn't appear until 45 minutes into Batman Begins.

  • @spideyfan2002 Batman may have not been established right away in Batman Begins, but he was still fightining people early on. The Hulk wasn't. Put simply, this film had way too much dialogue and awful looking CGI.

  • @greensucksbluerules Well, if you notice clearly during the film, you notice that when we see in the mind of Bruce Banner, there is one kind of repressed being that wanted to be released. Bruce had it closed until the accident in his lab when he no longer could repress it and it finally came out as the Hulk.

And the question in this movie is who is the villain. Is it Thunderbolt Ross, or Talbot or was it the madness of David Banner which took form at the end of the movie.

  • @movienaut When a movie is about a superhero, you want to superhero to show up as early as possible. It didn't happen here, because the filmmakers were trying too hard to make the film "deep." You need an established villain so you can support the hero and Hulk '03 didn't deliver.

  • @spideyfan2002 The masses prefers the less sense more absurd interpretation, best summed up in two words - 'hulk smash.'

  • @spideyfan2002 The Incredible Hulk is more of a sequel than anything. The CGI is laughable in this movie. Hulk looks more like Gumby.

  • @Beer1584 what r u sniffin? the CGI here was superb, especially for it's time...

  • @Abr022575 If you think this CGI was superb, you also probably think Superman IV had realistic greenscreen effects.

  • My fav hobby: inflicting my petty rule over the entire globe.

  • 4:16

  • "Let us shed these mortal vessels and have a war as gods!" This to me is one of the most exciting and amazingly conceptual scenes in the film as well as the battle that ensues. What a villain!

  • I thikn the movie is good. And this is one of the best scenes in the movie.

  • lol at 4:03

  • A loving father and son devolve into bitter enemies. This is hardcore adult storytelling at its finest.

  • "Nyaaaaaah! That's you. That's what you sound like. A Bitch! That's what you are."

    XD

  • for christs sake, how the hell could you cut out the finish to this?! you're on crack! (but thanks for posting what you did...) :P repost if you can with that part in...

  • hehehehe, the moment at 4:16 was funny for me. After hearing his son scream, the guy's all "ehhhh... that's how you sound, like a whiny bitch!"

  • His deep voice reminds me of Christian Bale's.

  • But you left out the best part (GO YOU JUST WATCH ME GO!!)

  • wow nick notle is fucking crazy I haven't seen him this fucked up since cape fear

  • How did my grandpa get in this movie?

  • GOOOOO!!!!!

  • needs more T&A

  • One of the best scenes from an incredible (pun intended) superhero film. The emotional catharsis Ang Lee aimed for really did the comic book antihero justice. Hit the nail on the head. And the comic book type panes and editing were so amazing!

  • This Hulk is much better than the new one. Great drama AND action. The new one only got two action scenes. The characters in the new Hulk were boring. Sam Elliot will kick your ass compared to the old weakling William Hurt. Ed Norton and Liv Tyler did not fit. Bana did a good job and Jennifer Connelly was hot. Nick Nolte did and excellent job.

  • @tekkenfan01 I totally agree with you. the new one was to dramatic. We all know bruce loved betty but wtf is with kissing in the rain shit. The 2003 hulk had awesome comic book like editing and seemed so original compared to the new one. I dont understand why people didnt love this one

  • @Mangobrain82 Cool. I just watched both movies again and I still like Hulk more. TIH was just a simple popcorn flick for the crazy comic readers. Hulk had some serious stuff. Tim Roth was a scrawny fool and seeing him run 50 mph and matrix moves was ridiculous.

  • @tekkenfan01 i agree 100%

  • @tekkenfan01 Well, to be fair, Tim Roth's character had taken the super soldier serum. So, maybe that's the kind of thing we'll see in Captain America.

  • @Zubirrex I know he was doped up but it still looked out of place doing those crazy matrix movies and action. However the actor looked like he was on crack during the movie anyway.

  • Some of the most ridiculous 'Over the Top' acting I've ever seen. Why the army sticks too dangerous Gama Radiated Mutant's in two chair so they can have a time out & sit there and talk too each other is beyond me. A movie with good intenet that just came out wrong.

  • @jayce79 well they didn't know of David Banner's absorbing abilities. and Bruce Banner is not immortal, Hulk is. Betty understands David's "wanting to see my (David) son, one last time" and Ross wants to please his daughter so he allowed it.

  • @crimefighterg33k

Thanks. Well , I guess covers the why. But , it wasn't so much the reason that there sitting there as the scene itself is very loopy , meladramatic and extremely over the top. And Not quite in a great way. Ang Lee is such a terriffic Filmaker and he had the best of intentions , it just came out a little south. Just my opinion of the movie. Does'nt mean you can't enjoy it. Hell , sometime's I even find myself watching it on T.V. It does have some cool moments. Take Care

  • @jayce79 i enjoyed the whole movie, except after Bruce's 1st nightmare as a kid until the first hulk transformation. that was boring. all in all i enjoyed it. i'm glad u find some parts enjoyable.

  • @crimefighterg33k

Well it's like anything , some loved it , some hated it and some in the middle.

  • i wish someone would put the whole movie on here ...or tell me where i can watch it without downloading it

  • @pagehasexpired fastpasstv

  • @pagehasexpired try stagevu.com dude

  • @pagehasexpired you coud go to youku dot com

  • I love that little imitation he does

  • Nick Nolte was the reason why this Hulk movie was better then the recent one.

  • Only good scene in the movie besides Bruce saying TAKE IT ALL!!!

  • i dont know why, but the 3:00 to 4:32 piece remebers me about the Joker... or it would be corectly (in what concerns time as i watched this movie before dark knight..) that Joker reminds me of bruce's father in this piece.....

  • TAKE IT ALL!!!

  • This one of many great scenes in this film- The version for sure so far...

  • 4:09 to 4:17 is absolutley the best part in the movie :P

  • 1:51 i thort ther was guna be supprise buttsecks >:O

  • Stop what!!

  • That is such a cool piece! Thanks for posting!

I have to admit that I love this movie, though I think it is for the older soul if I may say. It should also be watched when you have loads of time and peace. I think the acting, the CGI, the sliding scenes and the music/score is bang-on! Thanks Ang Lee and thanks poster!

    Peace! GRRRRRRRRR!!!!

  • LMAO 4:15

stop your ballin' you unspeakable piece of human trash.

  • nick nolte is awesome! My favorite scene in the movie

  • the realistic drama and writing in this one combined with the action and adventure in the 2008 version would be the perfect Hulk film

  • the only redeeming quality to this movie was Nick Nolte's performance, the rest of the movie was just Boring, Long, and almost Unwatchable, the Hulk movie is supposed to be filled with action and Hulk smashing things, and dealing with our inner nerds rather than make this into some stupid pointless realistic drama.

  • Not saying that the Hulk comics are drama oh this level..but u need to read the commics espicially Peter Davids run..ther a lot more than just hulks mashing things..a lot of nice psychological drama and then some.. Great stuff.

  • Say what you want about this movie, but this scene is brilliant. I personally always thought that Hulk got a lot more crap than it deserved.

Honestly a combination of elements from Hulk and Incredible Hulk would probably make an amazing movie.

  • Comment removed

  • yes i remembered only seconds after i posted that, that it was ang lee that directed the film. BUT eve thought he did a good job, the movie was utterly boring

  • Sorry peeps but this Movie this character Nick played was damn awesome. and had alot of emotional power for the hulk and a good story for him. only reaosn anyone cried about it was not enough of the hulk smash crap. But the Father and Son battle was Pure power. I would of liked to see Marvel do something with the character would been alot cooler all around for the Hulk's story. this was better than the 2008 movie sorry but true

  • I agree

  • @LordEli

    don't be sorry

    you are So right

this movie was unapreciated because it came out during the time when comic book movies were still kind of cheesy and goofy action films. If it had come out around the time of the dark knight and watchmen and more serious superhero films it would have been much better appreciated for its depth and plot.

  • the first one was superior in almost every way except for a few things. john woo was a terrible director, and the first one was an incredible bore.

i prefer the second one because it may not be a piece of genius writing like this but it sure as hell kept me entertained and dealt with my inner nerd instead of trying to fix my inner soul

  • The director was Ang Lee, who directed Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon and Brokeback Mountain...and he was a very good director.

He is actually the one in the motion capture suit for the Hulk. Ang Lee is the hulk and he's brilliant.

  • 4:15 lol

  • Comment removed

  • had this movie had the special effects of the 2008 release, it would have magical. I love the part when the hulk hangs on to the military aircraft and you see it disappearing into space until the pilots starts to scream because of lack of oxygen. This scene with Nick Nolte was very good acting.

  • The special effects were'nt really the problem at all with this movie . ILM did a fantastic Job with the direction they were given. The way the Hulk looked was not a fault of ILM , but the vision and style of the director. Much like the movie. The rest of the effects in this movie were nothing short of great.

  • right on the button man. this scenes diatribe was excellent and could be read in a number of movies as...it is true. , Noltes acting was ...not just good but brilliant. revisiting the past recent and distant , feels great.

  • what was wrong with this hulk

  • i prefear the first one

  • This is really a reality TV show called At Home With The Noltes..

  • have you cut a section off this scene

  • Best part of ths movie was the cast but even that cold not save it. Had the cast in this been in the new 08 movie, it would have been even better. IMO!

  • its the old dude from tropic thunder!!!!!!

  • Esta es definitivamente la mejor escena de toda la pelicula, es solo por ver esto que vale la pena ver la pelicula.

  • The whole scene looks like they're playing in some kind of theater, I like it. The best part.

  • 4:15 LOL

  • I agree with the Old Man... Could he really do any worse than the Military Order of Mankind who dropped the AtomicBomb, etc... Building 7 WTC brought down by controlled Demolition- not aeroplanes. Youtube it !
