The entire premise and plot is a lazy Deus Ex Machina. They don't even bother to make 1 mention of how, why or when he became such a "genious".

Show him actually succeeding in college. All we see is an arrogant douche and we're told he's real smart, so therefore he can do anything.

I mean his whole life is based on his father's wealth and company, but there's barely a mention of him in the movie.
