Perhaps I should have said Oberst & Dylan were among the greatest lyricists. There are some great lyricists out there (Andrew Bird, M. Ward, etc. etc)and we should take it up ourselves to listen to their poetry. But, I myself find that Oberst is one of my personal favorites, and could almost have his works read as poetry, but then you would miss out on his musical genius.

Perhaps I should have said Oberst & Dylan were among the greatest lyricists. There are some great lyricists out there (Andrew Bird, M. Ward, etc. etc)and we should take it up ourselves to listen to their poetry. But, I myself find that Oberst is one of my personal favorites, and could almost have his works read as poetry, but then you would miss out on his musical genius.

@LemurDeCatta I can understand that, but honestly, Conor IS one of the best lyricists. He was named best songwriter of 2008 by Rolling Stone. Just listen to the song "Lua" by his band Bright Eyes. the lyricism is genius.

@blowafly, I completely agree with you! I swear, I listen to this song about 3 times a day. To people that are just haters, and just don't listen, this song is just a bunch of random crap. But to people like me, this lyrics are so meaningful, we could just die. :)

@ssariesen well... you gotta check out cassino before you go makin that assumption lol... or anything off of "the devil and god are raging inside me".... or dear and the headlights... or manchester orchestra... all very different in their styles, but if you're into lyrics, i highly recommend these bands = )
