My grandmother passed away a few months ago. As I was just looking over her lifeless body, I wondered where she was at that very moment. I wondered if she was near me. I certainly do not believe in a heaven or hell, but I believe in the possibility of there being a quantum continuum from here, but I don't depend on it. Perhaps my grandmother still exists (somewhere) in a different dimension. Or, perhaps death is the end of ones existence entirely. Who knows? We'll see.
Fuck this cunt, faith is poison and he is a weak piece of shit for begging for gods help. Who cares that his shitty son died. There are almost 7 billion of us ruining this planet. We are a virus and we rape this planet on a daily basis.
@MastodonManiac So your attitude towards this makes it better because you realize the true ugliness of the planet and yet you yourself says some very ugly things. yes this man is a fraud in many regards for upselling his "memoirs" but saying horrible things about his son is not the right thing to do. If your so upset about humans being a nasty virus, stop being part of the strain.
@TheAssesKicker I don't know how you got THAT from what I said... our collective dishonesty regarding death is the foundation of religion, one of the most destructive forces known to man.
Something horrible happened to him and he turned to a non-existent being that could comfort him. You see it all the time. People 'finding God' when they hit an all-time low, because nothing in reality can give them the solace they seek. It's fucking appalling.
@Hepatomancer what about the billions of others who live happy lives who believe.... he still said himself he still does not believe..... whats your point?
@Baseshocks Well, to be completely honest, I never watched the video in it's entirety when I made my first remark. At the time I wasn't feeling particularly humble so like a jackass (i assume) I just kept spouting off nonsense rather than concede my point. Additionally, I can't remember what I said in my second comment (and it seems to have disappeared) and thusly have absolutely nothing to reference when you ask me what I'm trying to prove. Long story short, I'll shut up now.
In a very painful time, we will turn to God for help. What we are really asking him for, is strength to get through the hurt we don't believe we can manage. But the strength is already there inside you. It is just a matter of drawing it out. God doesn't give you that strength. You always had it. Believe that, and life won't bring you down.
i think it was said best when a critic talked about Frey: "Regardless of his misleading memoirs, the fact remains that the story needs to be told and Frey is one hell of a writer"
I think this is actually a completely horrible thing James Frey is saying. His son passes away and he wishes he didn't emotionally feel it. When somebody you love dies, it is HEALTHY for you to be in absolute agony.
Being numb to the death of your own child would be immoral.
@TheBrradsullivan you are not seeing his point. He is not wishing that he was ignorant. He wishes that he believed in something that could give him faith. I find it hard to believe that someone as ignorant as yourself would think it a good idea to post on youtube. Grow the fuck up. It is people like you that make all atheists look bad.
@Reel6Productions i guess its just personal perspective, id rather believe a hard truth then try and hide from my problems with fairytales....if one of my children dies, im not going to tell myself its all ok because they're flying around in heavin with cute little wings and god has a plan...they're fucking dead, dirt, wormfood, no afterlife, nothing, no more existence!! and it hurts and thats that, its sick that so many adults cant accept reality
@TheBrradsullivan so what is the hard truth? You must be some sort of genius evolved 5000 years ahead of any other person on this planet to have the secrets of the universe figured out...
@Baseshocks well thank you im flattered lol thats quite the presumption, unfortunately i dont have any secrets about the cosmos, just a dedication to and understanding of a little thing i like to call reality. seeing on how organized religion is the number one cause for hate, death and destruction in the world and its holding back the social evolution of our species...i do take offence to an otherwise intelligent person wishing for its ignorance, no matter how blissful they perceive it to be
@TheBrradsullivan humans have been around for 2 million years. Christianity has been around in mass for less then 2000. Genghis Khan, Alexander The Great, the war between Sparta and Athens... humans have been at war and oppressed each other long before Christianity... I do not understand the point you are trying to make, we are a violent species religion or no religion. Stalin was also an atheist. How can you absolutely deny something when it is a unknown... continued.
@TheBrradsullivan This is how a true scientist questions religion, watch this vid Michio Kaku on God.. he questions it, he wonders why the universe is organized.. everything has an answer, why can science explain thing.. everything has its proper place... To outright deny with no questioning... dont know what to say about that... thats not very scientific of you.
@Baseshocks no scientist believes the universe is organized, the universe is constantly expanding, all matter has been in a state of constant chaos, bent on ripping apart its own atoms since the beginning of time. everything does not have an answer, science is just beginning to scrath the surface of answering tomorrows truths. to remain skeptical and outright deny anything that may be used as an argument for creation is the first step in earning the title of scientist.
@TheBrradsullivan organized, nebula creates sun, sun explodes and creates planets, these planets are captured by another suns orbit, some of these planets are caught perfectly in the Goldy zone, liquid water is possible being in this area. life forms, life dies, sun explodes process repeats. The circle of life is it not... To earn the tittle scientist you must go to school for many years then research... your religious beliefs have nothing to do with it... continued.
@TheBrradsullivan my point was a true scientist keeps an open mind to any possibility until it is proven or disproved. I said it because many atheists say they believe in science, yet they outright deny something that is nether proven nor unproven.
@Baseshocks sure, but having an open mind is something completely different then being easily persuaded. i can say confidently that there is no god and thats a fact. not because i have disproven god, but because i know there is NO evidence of god, thus no reason to believe in one. you cannot disprove something that does not exist, it creates a logical fallacy, the burden of proof falls upon the believer not, the non believer, for a person to say "i believe, prove me wrong" just makes them an idiot
@TheBrradsullivan How have you disproven god because you know? I can use the same argument... In research and development people think outside the box to any possibility. Its like saying machines cant fly so prove it.. it was proven in time. You have this mentality now with science because of people who said what if for generations while others like you said it was impossible. the world is round prove it.. Galileo was burned by people like you. continued.
@Baseshocks ...no thats completely different, we had machines, we knew they could do other tasks, there was a proven working relationship. the rest of this paragraph was junk, galileo was a person like me, the reason he was killed was his claims were seen as denying scripture (god). its not a question of weather we do or do not understand the universe, we are continualy understanding it more and more. so by your reasoning your open that invisible purple dragons may secretly run the world?
@TheBrradsullivan not run the world. created it. The mentality of people changed in the Industrial era, i am talking before... The bible does not say the earth is flat, its just misinterpretation by idiots who are against new ideas. In my view death leads to another level in this universe or parallel one. But were talking about open mind so ya. Galileo was not the one who blindly denied an Idea, he had no proof on hand so the others who were closed minded executed him.
@TheBrradsullivan Just because we do not understand it yet does not make it true or not true. The Universe and life is one of the biggest questions all possibilities should be considered should it not. To automatically deny something makes you no different then the examples i stated. Frankly we do not know yet.
MDKid1 - wow. you managed to contradict yourself in less than a page....yep....you are definitely religious.....lolololol....btw, the absolute HEIGHT of arrogance is claiming to know what "God" thinks and what "God" is doing....THINK about it....It the complete opposite of all that (supposed) humility religion instills....fyi - "free will" and the existence of an omniscient, omnipotent, and benevolent being are a fucking GIANT contradiction.
I'm a very religious person and even though I wish I could say to this guy that God is always there...that he doesn't have to work in grand, obvious ways for us to believe in him...I still find his view very inspiring. Faith is exactly what it sounds like...believing in something that isn't necessarily obvious. I hope he finds peace in his heart someday.
This guy is full of it. I love the idea he is in heaven, even if I don't believe it? Make up your mind man. Why is anyone watching this jerk. Oh yeah, he HAS A BOOK TO SELL...NEXT !
God doesn't work in "signs"...he works through people and in people, intuition...that is God. Shit happens, its part of the everyday fabric of life and believe it or not, that is your predestined path you have to walk. What you need to do is ask God for the strength to endure and accept the path He has created for you. You are NOT in control of your life, you are NOT the captain of your life "ship".
@MDkid1 Then how come I can make the choices that I make? How come I can choose weather I want to go to Panda Express or Taco Bell for lunch? How come I can chose every path in my life?
@MDkid1 How am I not in charge.. I pretty much control whatever I do. Basically what you're saying is that God decides exactly how every single person on the planet will act at ever second of everyday of their life?
@CoreyL11 no, you have free will, which God has given us to go to Taco bell or the like (lol). What I'm talking about is the bigger picture. The little things that stir you one way or another....you may feel that its your own doing but if its where you should be it is where you will end up and THAT is God's doing :)
@MDkid1 You know I honestly really respect you for being able to live your life based on a certain religion.. That's not sarcasm either. I know it sorta sounds like it is but I'm being totally serious. But honestly that just all seems too crazy for me to believe.. I really wish I could believe that. And I wish I could believe that there was a God and a heaven but I just can't get myself to.. But I really respect you for being able to
I know exactly the feeling he's talking about. When I was younger, people kept telling me if I just opened up to God, I would feel him. I never did. I begged him for a sign, for help, for anything, and got nothing. I wish I could have found religion as well.
