  • oooh that gibson hummingbird sooo beautiful

  • Wolfmother is bloody amazing, even live!! its not about if 'they suck live' its about the music and having a blast while getting into the music! real quality! love them!!

  • is this the drummer playing guitar?

  • @saemikneu nope. those are just the two guitarists andrew and aidan plus keyboarder/bassist ian.

  • Oh my...BIG HAIR!

  • the chorus is beautiful with the backing vocals. gives me chills

  • i have no clue how to play that solo with a 12-string :)

  • "Jokers in the Pack".................

  • This is so sick. hah ian is better at guitar than aidan. I would like to see aidan get to do more stuff, play a solo every now and then, hes always in the back playin chords

  • AHAHAHAHA I swear I have the EXACT same guitar as the guy on the far left! YASSS

  • stockdale is keeping his voice soooooo behind its actual possibilities...

  • It's the imperfections that make it. I love the quirky originality that they give to things when they're doing live acoustic. It's not really a band I'd follow but I spotted them doing a Kate Bush "Wuthering Heights" cover this way and really enjoyed it because they definitely give it their own style.

  • I am slightly very pleased to see a lot of classic rock and classic hard rock listeners praising a band that is from 2004-2006. This means that rock may get back to what it's supposed to be. Slowly, but steadily. Which is really good!

  • This is fuckin hilarious

  • friggen rights! wolfmother friggen rules!

  • Anyone know where to find a tab to this?

  • @steeleternal ultimate guitar. Its a VERY simple song

  • Im pretty sure this song is about all along the watch tower, but maybe im just crazy.

  • i just came

  • i really wanna hear ian peres singing by himself now :/ XP

  • he shreddedddd!!!

  • People keep saying how great Cosmic Egg was. I mean, it wasnt bad it had a few catchy tunes in there, but you couldnt compare it to their first album. That was amazing, every single track on there was great, I like the new lineup, but I dont think they could match what they made that first time. I still enjoy listening to Wolfmother because, even if they arent as good as before, they're still amazing, and one of the better bands around today.

  • please comment to our joker and the thief cover

  • Would have sounded awesome if they'd have skipped one guitar.

  • i love wolfmother

    but this kinda sucks

    =/

  • @nozanda Come on! A legend? He's good, but not a legend...

  • 3:50 how do you do that on a 12 string???!!!

  • the bass player is like john paul jones, bass, guitar, keybord, vocals..something more???? and stockdale it's the fusion of page and plant, i love this band.

  • crazy he can do that awesome solo on an acoustic guitar!

  • Awesome, but wtf is with the weird-ass lyric changes??

  • AWESOME!

  • I approve.

  • They remind me of me and my friends when we'd just sit on the kitchen floor, drinking 40s, and jammin' all night long. That's what I love about this bands, it's just good old music. Some people complain that "it's too much like classic rock," but how the fuck is that a bad thing? If it ain't broke, why fix it? Besides, give me ten bands formed since 1985 that are as good as, say, Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, The Beatles, The Doors, and Blue Cheer! Nirvana, RATM, and that's about it, right?

  • @mussman717word well radiohead, arcade fire, massive attack and just so many others;)

    love wolfmother though!

  • haha, wow the intro wasnt as cool on acoustic, but im still quite impressed, didn't expect this.

  • its HAIR rock lol

  • lmaoo the first solo at the beggining sounds funny :P

  • They aren't technically the best, but they're better than any other band these days. creativity and originality is what counts i think.

  • @ZeppelinFloydRoses

I couldn't have said it better myself, mate.

  • @ZeppelinFloydRoses creative and oripional are you fucking kidding me?

they sound like a led zepplin cover band. they've introduced nothing new to music that hasn't been around for the last 40 years.

  • tool :P

  • @ZeppelinFloydRoses how the fuck does that make me a tool?

also were you just unable to make an arguement back so you decided to try and just insult me?

  • @MrMisab maybe i don't wanna argue with someone who thinks Wolfmother sounds like a Led Zeppelin cover band.

  • @ZeppelinFloydRoses I wouldn't say they're original. I mean, they're highly influenced by oldschool rock'n'roll bands, but that's exactly why they rock. If they have to copy someone, they copy the right bands.

  • @ZeppelinFloydRoses You having a laugh? 'technically not the best' - don't know what band you've been listening to then

  • @ThePretender1206 The original wolfmother were not terribly proficient. neither is this incarnation.

  • @ThePretender1206 its true, Stockdale isnt the best soloer, but he kicks ass anyway

  • @ZeppelinFloydRoses totally agree!

  • A Brisbane band back in the 80`s recorded a song in a brisbane studio, which is lyrically and rythmatically the same as this song...WTF... Musicans listen to other artists songs which there influenced by and sometimes copy....Awesome song.....@ZeppelinFloydRoses

  • @zapbranagan The song was called" Jokers in the Pack" continued from the above............

  • @zapbranagan Send me proof of the Brisbane band? That'd be nice.

  • @zapbranagan dude you;ve posted the exact same comment on every version of joker and the thief there is on youtube you really need to get a life

  • @vdj500 It`s my prerogative to tell the truth, a muso should be acknowledged for writing a song which was nominated for song of the year........don`t you think????

  • Bands listen to other musicans music and are influenced and sometimes copy. A brisbane band back in the 80`s recorded a song which is rythmatically and lyrically the same song, it was called Jokers in the Pack.....awesome song...............

  • @ZeppelinFloydRoses Creativity and originality yes, but better than any other band?? Are you fucking kidding me??

  • @jprenderg it's just my opinion.....

  • They aren't technically the best, but they're better than any other band these days. creativity and originality is what counts i think.

  • These guys R definitely not good 4 acoustic stuff...

  • @LiberationArmy

Are you drunk?! they kicked ass.

  • Honestly... This song has bullshit lyrics (i'm not insulting it haha). Would you call it acid rock? If so, I guess that's an excuse for stupid lyrics. Kickass song, anyway.

  • @superlou1s It makes plenty sense, its refering to a Dylan song i believe.

  • @Adumantiumm- It's not refering to a dylan song, it just takes a couple lyrics from a dylan song that the singer thought sounded "cool" and he made it into a whole song. Honestly, if you can describe to me what this song is about I'll give you a medal.

  • @superlou1s Apperently its about "the Joker" who is a rockstar figure, touring and such, and there's a groupie or someone along the same lines, and he takes interest in her. Most of the lyrics are metaphors, but WM has never been very literal with their material, especially on the debut album.

There are a million different explanations, but this one seems the most believable to me. And your thoughts?

  • @superlou1s Owend

  • Comment removed

  • @NerdsVSWorld- Not really. The explanation I was given was a lame, hackneyed story bad song writers come up with when they can't think of good lyrics. "Ooh it's about fame!" Fine. That might make sense if Wolfmother had had any fame before this song came out. It's just a crappy Bob Dylan reference. They're basically leaning on better songwriters to make a song that's pseudo-metaphorical. I like the riffs and general music wolfmother makes, but andrew stockdale is a bad writer and singer.

  • @superlou1s yeah i doubt that. Even the greatest of musicians have to be inspired, just becuase one line gave stockdale an idea for an entire song does not mean hes not talented. if you don't care or the music, i don't care. but saying that hes untalented is an outright lie

  • @superlou1s plus you dont have to be famous to write about the problems of fame.

  • @NerdsVSWorld- Number one, I do like their music. I just think the lyrics are meaningless, and meant to be metaphorical when they just aren't. Number two, it kind of helps to write music about something if you actually know what you're talking about. I doubt the Joker and the Thief has anything to do with fame though. It's a cool hard rock song, with a great guitar part. The lyrics are filler.

  • @superlou1s well im sorry you think that. now go read some of your "twilight saga" which has such AMZING writing. (sarcasm)

  • @superlou1s

The lyrics are an obvious tribute to Dylan.

  • @NerdsVSWorld- Twilight? The fuck did you get that from? Go read tolstoy or listen to Elvis Costello then tell me this is well written.

  • @superlou1s this is well written, costellos good to (not my style, but you can't argue with talent)

  • classic

  • The singer shaved and the HUGE hair looks hilarious, really brings out his receding hair line

  • that base player is fucknig multi talented: Bass, guitar, Keyboard, vocals... more??

  • lots of musicians are.....but you are right.

  • @anqusyounq plus: after Andrew cut his hair he has the best hair of the world x'D

  • @tegistderbeste yeaah. its a shame he cut is hair :P

  • @anqusyounq Just like John Paul Jones, although JPJ could also play the Harp, Accordian, Mandolin

  • @MixxMasterKid yeah this comment was before i dicovered the true glory about zeppelin :)

  • @MixxMasterKid yeah and JPJ was a real musician not like this fuckwit

  • Comment removed

  • this sure aint The Joker and the Thief i know but nice try, this is just not made for acoustic ;)

  • magic fingers :-D

  • good acoustic versions=talent

  • Lol the bassist is better at Rhythm than the actual rhythm guitarist.

  • I didn't think this song would work well with acoustics

    Good Job Wolfmother

  • 4:50 is this the beginning of stairway to heaven?!

  • Same tonic but I don't think so....
