Wolfmother is bloody amazing, even live!! its not about if 'they suck live' its about the music and having a blast while getting into the music! real quality! love them!!
This is so sick. hah ian is better at guitar than aidan. I would like to see aidan get to do more stuff, play a solo every now and then, hes always in the back playin chords
It's the imperfections that make it. I love the quirky originality that they give to things when they're doing live acoustic. It's not really a band I'd follow but I spotted them doing a Kate Bush "Wuthering Heights" cover this way and really enjoyed it because they definitely give it their own style.
I am slightly very pleased to see a lot of classic rock and classic hard rock listeners praising a band that is from 2004-2006. This means that rock may get back to what it's supposed to be. Slowly, but steadily. Which is really good!
People keep saying how great Cosmic Egg was. I mean, it wasnt bad it had a few catchy tunes in there, but you couldnt compare it to their first album. That was amazing, every single track on there was great, I like the new lineup, but I dont think they could match what they made that first time. I still enjoy listening to Wolfmother because, even if they arent as good as before, they're still amazing, and one of the better bands around today.
the bass player is like john paul jones, bass, guitar, keybord, vocals..something more???? and stockdale it's the fusion of page and plant, i love this band.
They remind me of me and my friends when we'd just sit on the kitchen floor, drinking 40s, and jammin' all night long. That's what I love about this bands, it's just good old music. Some people complain that "it's too much like classic rock," but how the fuck is that a bad thing? If it ain't broke, why fix it? Besides, give me ten bands formed since 1985 that are as good as, say, Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, The Beatles, The Doors, and Blue Cheer! Nirvana, RATM, and that's about it, right?
@ZeppelinFloydRoses I wouldn't say they're original. I mean, they're highly influenced by oldschool rock'n'roll bands, but that's exactly why they rock. If they have to copy someone, they copy the right bands.
A Brisbane band back in the 80`s recorded a song in a brisbane studio, which is lyrically and rythmatically the same as this song...WTF... Musicans listen to other artists songs which there influenced by and sometimes copy....Awesome song.....@ZeppelinFloydRoses
@vdj500 It`s my prerogative to tell the truth, a muso should be acknowledged for writing a song which was nominated for song of the year........don`t you think????
Bands listen to other musicans music and are influenced and sometimes copy. A brisbane band back in the 80`s recorded a song which is rythmatically and lyrically the same song, it was called Jokers in the Pack.....awesome song...............
Honestly... This song has bullshit lyrics (i'm not insulting it haha). Would you call it acid rock? If so, I guess that's an excuse for stupid lyrics. Kickass song, anyway.
@Adumantiumm- It's not refering to a dylan song, it just takes a couple lyrics from a dylan song that the singer thought sounded "cool" and he made it into a whole song. Honestly, if you can describe to me what this song is about I'll give you a medal.
@superlou1s Apperently its about "the Joker" who is a rockstar figure, touring and such, and there's a groupie or someone along the same lines, and he takes interest in her. Most of the lyrics are metaphors, but WM has never been very literal with their material, especially on the debut album.
There are a million different explanations, but this one seems the most believable to me. And your thoughts?
@NerdsVSWorld- Not really. The explanation I was given was a lame, hackneyed story bad song writers come up with when they can't think of good lyrics. "Ooh it's about fame!" Fine. That might make sense if Wolfmother had had any fame before this song came out. It's just a crappy Bob Dylan reference. They're basically leaning on better songwriters to make a song that's pseudo-metaphorical. I like the riffs and general music wolfmother makes, but andrew stockdale is a bad writer and singer.
@superlou1s yeah i doubt that. Even the greatest of musicians have to be inspired, just becuase one line gave stockdale an idea for an entire song does not mean hes not talented. if you don't care or the music, i don't care. but saying that hes untalented is an outright lie
@NerdsVSWorld- Number one, I do like their music. I just think the lyrics are meaningless, and meant to be metaphorical when they just aren't. Number two, it kind of helps to write music about something if you actually know what you're talking about. I doubt the Joker and the Thief has anything to do with fame though. It's a cool hard rock song, with a great guitar part. The lyrics are filler.
