I hate downward sloping section into a slow corner, means you have to brake hard, but you are shifting all the weight to the front even more because of the slope and the tires lockup because theres too much force on them. Only remedy is to get stickier tires or brake earlier before the slope.

Each car has there own strengths and weaknesses and the track will show them all, its just down to which car has less (or more) than another and if the driver can utilise the strengths and hide the weaknesses that makes the difference on the day, oh, then there is the luck of motorsport too.

Dude! Awesome run! It's about time someone actually showed all those V8 heads out there what a turbo 4 can do! But as a motorsport fan, in particular drifting and rally, PLEASE get some better suspension! There's a couple of moments in the vid where you'd have had smoother exits if the car wasn't jumping around on the track so much. I'd love to see a video of you drifting your car....hint hint :0)
It's fine if set up properly. Much better than a FR car. You can put the power on a lot earlier coming out of a corner due to the weight on the back. Sure it steps out a bit when pushed too hard though it's controlable. It's not like what everyone says that it's hard to control.
It's not a street car so my advice wouldn't really be valid for you. Not sure of the standard power. I had around 170kW I think on that day atw. I now have around 206kw atw. I recently rebuilt my engine because I broke a ring land on one of the pistons. Too much boost :-( I have forged pistons now so they should be a lot stronger with high boost. :-)
The MR2 im looking at has been rebuilt also by Road & Track in QLD. I have heard they are MR2 specialists but am unsure on this. It has forged pistons, bored block, cylinder head overhauled and engine balancing etc. Still running standard boost on a rebuilt & hi-flowed CT26 i believe. How reliable do you think this would be? Roughly :P seeings as thats all you know about this particular car...108k on the clock.
I thought he had lexan door & quarter windows ? I know the thing had an awesome power to weight ratio. Mines still a lard arse so I have compensated with a few more tweaks.

I was the guy in the GTS, the trouble we were all having was the track was also being used by drifters on the same day which left heaps of dirt and rubber on the track, made for very slippery but fun conditions. The laps on this vid were towards the end of the day where we had both set our fastest times already and the fun was there for the taking.
How cool is that? I wish I lived near a race track. Love to be able to let loose on one. Nice driving. But I think that GTO had it on ya on the main straight. But the corners, little cars to go better. ;)
No it's a totally different car. It's a lot smaller than a 280Z and originally had a 1.2 litre engine. Now it has a 350Hp Nissan FJ20 turbo engine. :-) A friend of mine owns it.
jeeez 21 psi! i have a 91 turbo and im runnin 15psi with stock ic. i always thought boosting the ct26 over 16 was a sure death sentence for the turbine.
I have good intercooling - water to air. It's much more efficient that air to air. My heat exchanger is in front of the radiator which is the place where it will get the best air flow.
Hey what turbo has your MR2?...I have one and im planing to tune it for circuit racing...but Im not sure what type of turbine I should use...I was planning for a T03...

Tein coilovers. The sway bars look bigger than standard though I'm not 100% as they were on the car when I bought it. All bushes are the eurathane type. Rear alignment has 1 degree negative camber with 4mm toe out. Front has 0.5 degrees negative camber, 4 degrees positive castor and 0mm toe. The toe out on the back helps it to turn.

I'm running slicks on the back now so it doesn't step out at all unless I do something dumb. My setup is easy to control though I'm not running a standard setup or wheel alignment. I was running semi slicks on the day of that video.

I bought the car for $10000 AUD and it had the following done to it - Tein coilovers, 16x7 wheels, PWR water to air intercooler, bigger injectors, Microtech computer, hi-flowed turbo, 3" exhaust, quick shifter, roll cage, seats and harnesses. It also had quite a lot of weight taken out of it. It was making 160kW at the wheels at most on that day. I now have 206kW at the wheels. :-) I have spent around $10000 more on the car since I bought it, so all up it cost me around $20000

No - it's a circuit car only. It hasn't been very reliable so far, though it's an old car being pushed to the limit so things do break. I have had to rebuild the engine as two of the ring lands on a piston broke - too much boost ;-)
It's a Holden Monaro, GTS coupe is just the full title name like the old days when you had HK gts 6 cylinder or gts 327 ( Chevy). Yes they were rebadged as Pontiac GTO's for the American market.

No it's a totally different car. It's a lot smaller than a 280Z and originally had a 1.2 litre engine. Now it has a 350Hp Nissan FJ20 turbo engine. :-) A friend of mine owns it.

jeeez 21 psi! i have a 91 turbo and im runnin 15psi with stock ic. i always thought boosting the ct26 over 16 was a sure death sentence for the turbine.

I have good intercooling - water to air. It's much more efficient that air to air. My heat exchanger is in front of the radiator which is the place where it will get the best air flow.

I guess the toe-out on the back helps cut the traction twitch MR2's are known for. Nice vid, looks like a nice balanced setup, good to see you know your car well, you seem to predict it's rear quite well.

Tein coilovers. The sway bars look bigger than standard though I'm not 100% as they were on the car when I bought it. All bushes are the eurathane type. Rear alignment has 1 degree negative camber with 4mm toe out. Front has 0.5 degrees negative camber, 4 degrees positive castor and 0mm toe. The toe out on the back helps it to turn.

Yes stock brakes for now though with race pads and slotted rotors on the back.

Haha true true. Well I'd be hard pushed to not give it some stick "some" of the time lol. Is it easy to correct when the rear starts sliding out? And would you advise a test day at a track to get a feel for the car as it is MR? Cheers.

I'm running slicks on the back now so it doesn't step out at all unless I do something dumb. My setup is easy to control though I'm not running a standard setup or wheel alignment. I was running semi slicks on the day of that video.

I bought the car for $10000 AUD and it had the following done to it - Tein coilovers, 16x7 wheels, PWR water to air intercooler, bigger injectors, Microtech computer, hi-flowed turbo, 3" exhaust, quick shifter, roll cage, seats and harnesses. It also had quite a lot of weight taken out of it. It was making 160kW at the wheels at most on that day. I now have 206kW at the wheels. :-) I have spent around $10000 more on the car since I bought it, so all up it cost me around $20000

No - it's a circuit car only. It hasn't been very reliable so far, though it's an old car being pushed to the limit so things do break. I have had to rebuild the engine as two of the ring lands on a piston broke - too much boost ;-)

It's a Holden Monaro, GTS coupe is just the full title name like the old days when you had HK gts 6 cylinder or gts 327 ( Chevy). Yes they were rebadged as Pontiac GTO's for the American market.
