Instead he's been glued to Sakura's side and they've had a pocket-full of cute NaruSaku moments in every chapter since.

I'll also Admit Kishimoto is stalling on Naruto talking with Hinata but that also makes sense cus he never even realised it until she told him.

(in alot of ways I am Naruto) Yet I would'nt know what 2 say 2 her. Whatever happens then is all up to Kishimoto.
By the way, it makes no sense for a guy to love a girl for such a long time and then decide he's in love with another girl because she confessed first. It doesn't matter how you look at it or how long the pause is between when Naruto sees Hinata next, it would make 0 sense. He's had feelings for Sakura since he was 12 (which back then were likely just a stupid crush) but now you can see they've developped into something really strong... (Will continue in a new comment)
There's no reason for him to throw away those feelings he's built up since childhood for a girl he's barely talked to. Unless Sakura tells him straight up, "Naruto, I don't love you", NaruHina will never happen. By the looks of it that won't be happening anytime soon.
