Your plants seem to be getting to much water and not enough air to the roots. I would replant and oven baked soil to kill bacteria. If there is not enough drainage then the roots will drown and start turning the tips and edges of your leaves yellow. And try not to over water them, let the soil kinda dry out between waterings.
That sucks.... I have a 5 week old seedling that is already starting to bud. I'm using Miracle Grow Moisture Control soil, feed with 10-15-10 once a week. 4- 26 watt 2700K CFL's and it's in a plastic Folger's coffee can. Bagseed. I've grown with HID but I prefer CFL due to the heat issue, I have found no difference in growth patterns or yeild time, just a little short on the final yeild, and my power bill was less. My last harvest was a 30 inch plant, I got a little over a Z.

i dont know what you mean by mixing dirt, but if you are amending soil, are you letting the shit cook before you use it? If you amended your soil, let the shit cook for thirty days minimum. Then it can be used. Make the mix chunky to create cavities for air. Also helps support healthy aerobes. You do not want anaerobes in your soil, unless you enjoy the scent of butthole!! Look into True Living Organics. I feed the microbes and they present me with weed you crave long after its gone!!!
wait till you get a nice rootball before transplanting. score the ball and transplant. use super thrive to decrease transplant shock. how do you know your soil was too hot? did you check your pH? what are your temps? is that cold concrete you have those kids sitting on? If your soil is hot, buffer it with good soil. Fill your pots 1/2 - 2/3 full with the hot soil and then place reg. soil in and transplant. The plant will grow into the hot soil when it is ready.

Reflection is a major issue that you have not addressed. Your soil is toooo wet, and your plants are way to far away from your lights. Put all of your pots right up next to each other and do the same with your lights, and raise your plants to within 3-5 inches of your plant tops. Lower the plants as they grow into the lights. Let em be for 3-4 days.
@duvaldangerranger - your right about the water less point. But the thing cant dryout as much as you say or it will die. You only want about the top inch or so to dry out between feedings

@partyongarth420 actually the highest lumen output measured VEL comes from full spectrum induction lamps. alot like sunlight they are amazing. If you haven't heard of them theres a you tube video or go to the inda-gro website and check out the user submitted photos. We like the yields of 400 grams p/meter, penetration is around 24", very little heat off the lamps,and full spectrum peaking at 350 and 650 NM. peace
yo no nutrients at all when theyre little. best to leave em till theyre big enough to handle, chances are you'll do root damage. my buddy made that mistake and some of them failed later on.

@MikeeThompson Well said, they produce thier own nutes in the first several weeks. The reason they have nutes at all IMO is bloom nutes because it gets less N and more phosphorus and potassium. this makes for nice fatty buds and reduces the amount of nitrogen. The plant stops producing chlorophyll when there is no nitrogen making for better flavor. the less chlorophyl the less like plant it will taste.
Dude i use lava rocks with miracle grow soil mixed and run a bubbleponics sytem and 4-23w 6500k cfl's. My plants are going crazy and i use jacks classics nutes for inddor plants. I spray my plants with distiled water 3x daily and 24hrs of light. This is my first attempt and i am in my third week of veg and i have plants that are bushy and a tone of notes. Try it i think you will be happy trim the plants also dead spot steal all of you'r nutes.

@mackernice listen to this guy, your ph will affect the nutrient availability range, if its acidic different nutrients are available at different levels and if it is alkaline different nutes are available depending on the range of your ph, i do ebb&flow bubbleponics and aeroponics my ph is always 5.9, 6.0 for seedlings and germination i use 5.5, 5.6. Seem to have found my groove.

you are missing light spectrum. those lights are ok but you should try maybe actual grow lights or led lights. After two weeks you should have plants atleast 8 to 10 inches.
thats pretty little after 2 months it should be way bigger in only two weeks u should just use natural soil and put it in the sun every day it will grow alot faster or just use a stronger lamp
Also in the dark period don't expose them to light, if your going to have a look at your grow do so during the 18 hr veg cycle, I can't really comment on your grow as concerning the lights as i use 400hps and its Horses For Coarses in that department , Miracle grow is not the way forward a cheap evenly balanced ph soil will a treat for you, like someone commented below i would just grow 1 monster rather than the 8-10 you have going. dude use a neutral soil. If you can get John Innes or some soil with a ph of 6.5 -7.5. I found mixing the soil with bonemeal works great and will keep the ph at neutral balance. peace
i see in ur vid i had same prob with hight i have found out and tested this dont have a fan blowing on to them keep a fan but not on ur plants i bet u have thick stem like i did took fan off my babys and they grow big and tall
dont get miracle grow soil, get just plain potting soil add some perilite to it. Let the plants get up good then add the nutrients with a water soluable fert. Dont over water allow to dry out before watering you can mist though. You will need to change the fert at bud time. To sex the plant take a leaf put stem in water then give it light 12 on 12 off it will get little white hairs if its a female then you can clone from it instead of planting seeds. Over fertilizing and watering big mistake.

you cant see so early female pistiles, do you have thermometer in box, it is essential in small space, dont put nutriens for a month, there are enough in the soil for month or two for small plants, or go soiless, what colour are yours cfl-s in kelvins, how much is their wattage, how long is your photoperiod, do you have intake-exhaust fan? if you want help you must post info...
...wait till they R root bound 2 transfer....A good soil base is Perilite + Vermiculite + Pete-Moss + Mushroom Compost ,,,,,You dont need any nutrients when they are that young...you can buy those 4 ingredients at Home-Depot or anywhere like that....& make sure your using GOOOOD WATER --City water sometimes has a bad P.H. balance?
There could be a couple reasons why your plalnts are stunted:
1. Compact florsecent lights run hot so you may not have enough fresh cool air in the grow space.
2. There is not reason to feed plants nutrients of any sort for the first month. All the plants need is fresh water. Roots may be dry or heat stressed.
yeah but when closed in a small space they can get hotter than a summer day. I have 4 cfls in my box before i added the fans and plexi glass and it got up to 100 degrees plus
The bulbs dont get that hot. Its the air that does. I had (4) 27watt CFLs in a 3x2x1 box so with all those lights in such a small area that is what got the temp to spike above 90
I would leave them until about 5 weeks then transplant them if your going to because it will give it more of a rootball so that the plant doesnt have to re-establish its roots into new tough soil. Nice plants bro.
and to your question of repotting if roots are coming out bottom definately needs repot. I would say 3-4 weeks and if healthy they could grow out those little pots. Plants will stop growing when this happens. Repot them and they will have growth spurts. ; )
Hello fellow enthusiest. I agree with Jbudd. Foxfarm makes Awesome soil. You should try it and I garantee you will notice good things. Also when you use fresh soil it already has nutes in it usually so dont fertilize for awhile maybe a month even. You'll notice when plants are getting hungry as the leaves turn yellow and plant stops being vigorous. Good Luck!!
@gotama420 Noooo, MG is not GREAT, but its still workable. I would never try to grow in any kind of compost because I can't get the drainage I would need and compost holds a lot of moisture. If you want to use MG, for veg, flush it out one good time and then suppliment with epsom salt and lime, for flower you can use it out of the bag.
LMAO!- u might want to try this- dont use that many cfl's or watts during veg- you're prob running an 18/6 or 24/0 light cycle, and that is too much light for that small of palnts, the reason they are so small is because of the stress of constant lighting at that stregth, you could veg better off of 3 of those cfls in that space
When you see new leaves appearing this means they are are ready for transplanting You should plan on transplanting your plant not more than one time, since the process of transplanting can be a shock to the plant and it will have to undergo a recovery period in which growth is slowed or even stopped for a short while. people just say that so you'll spend more on FF products. MG fertilizer works okay for outdoors because the outdoor environment gets more water and washes salt buildup out of the soil. MG soil will work out of the bag for bloom, and for veg if you flush it out. Maybe you're just not much of a grower.
if you are growin with bag seed aka ditch weed seeds i find that when you get them about 6 inches tall if you trigger the flowering stage 12/12 you will be able to tell your female plants from your male plants in about 2 weeks
by two months you should have full grown, fully mature plants. I've seen them at three and four feet tall at two months. Miracle grow works, it's readily available and it's pH'ed in the bag so you don't have to do soil amendments. But you'll want to add a teaspoon of either garden lime or epsom salts to the soil so that you can add sulfer, magnesium, and calcium. You only need trace amounts so you only do it one time.
sexing is easy. Cutt back to 12hours of light a day, and make sure they get NO MORE! after about 2 weeks males will have pollin sacs by the stalk, and females will have white hairs. i'd say its deffinatly time for you to sex them!
hay man i like your lite set up but it looks 2 me you need to hold back on your water and dont feed so much remember your dirt will feed for a few weeks and on your next grow use lots of perilite it will help dry shit up a bit dont 4get them roots need air to but your lites and fan are good and thats not lite burn i cant tell if its a girl or not but trans plant wen she out grows her pot
also get a ppm meter to check nutrient parts per million. Start clones at next to nothing 50 and work gradually to 1200 or so at the end stage for flowering, exact numbers or recommendations can be found online, but that will give you an idea and watch the plants they will tell you if they are getting too much. You will burn them so go slowly, during vegetation they can also be sprayed with water top and bottom of leaves once a day. Just stop when you start to flower. Hope it helps
water about 200 ml. (millilitres) every day during vegetation, this keeps the humidity higher. When you plant get 1/2 the hight you want in total start the flowering process 12 light 12 dark. then water 200 ml every 2 days for about 3 weeks then increase to 400 every 2 days this keeps the humidity down. I think they can go another couple of weeks before repot and put them in final pot size.
Use foxfarm ocean forest top soil and you'll be set. dont overwater and about your "best one", you wont able to tell the sex of your plant til you start to flower
I know this is only your second attemp, but you need to do a little more research before you actually go to plant the seeds. And yes miracle grow is shitty dont use it. find yourself a good organic soil and make sure not to over water your plants which is what it looks like youre doing. if you want more help just shoot me a message ill give you more info based on my grows
you can stress your plants and make every seed you have turn hermie or male.. it happens. use organic soil, miracle grow is NOT organic its bad. It can kill your plants, it almost killed my female.
rule of thumb one foot one gallon pot and so on dont over water them water every other day or every two days. judging by your plants dont mess with nutes till you grow without them then ease into useing nutes its takes a little practice
let them grow for a week in that pot feed them just neutral ph water get them established and healthy then change em as u dont want to stress em too much
a sack will show up if its a male you got to wait to find out . if you see a seed looking sack get rid of it quick an never ever touch one or go buy one cause you will have a male in every pot you go by
Im not new to growin, just new to CFL because of the clinate im in now.I staered with thes little lights too, until i found out they make 400 watts. I keep the little lights(different spc's)for th botton growth. 'm just a week or so in to it noe, and i put too much nut's in 2 of the pots. I keep 2 seeds per pot (what if ones male?) limit on space., well the extra nuts did stunt the plants growth. I left it for a bit, and there doing better. One pot i added the same if not more nuts there fine?
yes when ya see tha roots its time to transplant, also have u tried germinating the seed before ya plant it, a way i use to make the process shorter n also using feed like fish scales n so on!stay blazed
you dont need to get new dirt if there is too many nutrients or salt in the soil just flush the soil out with water, + dude dont ever interupt the light dark cycle it stresses the plants too much, if you see the roots coming out the bottom then yes transplant... preferably to big pots to reduce number of transplants to reduce stress... dude do some research, buy some books on growing weed and read them...it helps 110%. it pains my heart to see stressed, or unhealthy weed! instead of posting vids and asking questions; how about observing your plants behaviour and colourings and the like. Then watch the relevant videos on you tube. The truth is out there; and all findings will be relevant to your plants, and the learning curve is to be desired. READ UP.
if you see roots coming out of the bottom it is time to transplant into bigger pots with fresh soil. when you do, id suggest if you are using the same soil mix to add more perlite to it for better drainage also put your lights a little closer to the plants about 3-4 inches. ive had the same problem and that really is the cause potting soil its almost just soil with very low nutes, what light cycle is your plants on right now? if they are on 12/12 too early, if on 18/6 good deal, 24/0 thats ok to
u can just start them in a big pot... they can grow from start to finish.......they wont get hairs, or "buds" until u flower them with a 12/12 light cycle.....then in 10days or so you'll start to notice little white hairs (female) ... or little rounds balls (males).... get rid of the males......let the females flower for about 8wks in this 12/12 light cycle...... hope these tips help
honestly i would sex them first, convert back to veg, know whos male and whos female, get the males out, let them grow a little bit more and then just clone the mothers, that way you dont have to bud the vegging females just clone them and grow them for about a month and throw them in the flowering chamber, constant weed!!!
you gotta move your lights up more. your leaves arent reaching hard enough which makes them reach. Also, if their are roots sticking out of teh bottom of your pots, get bigger pots, some pot plants grow as big to need a 5 gallon bucket for one pot plant

@partyongarth420 actually the highest lumen output measured VEL comes from full spectrum induction lamps. alot like sunlight they are amazing. If you haven't heard of them theres a you tube video or go to the inda-gro website and check out the user submitted photos. We like the yields of 400 grams p/meter, penetration is around 24", very little heat off the lamps,and full spectrum peaking at 350 and 650 NM. peace

yo no nutrients at all when theyre little. best to leave em till theyre big enough to handle, chances are you'll do root damage. my buddy made that mistake and some of them failed later on.

@MikeeThompson Well said, they produce thier own nutes in the first several weeks. The reason they have nutes at all IMO is bloom nutes because it gets less N and more phosphorus and potassium. this makes for nice fatty buds and reduces the amount of nitrogen. The plant stops producing chlorophyll when there is no nitrogen making for better flavor. the less chlorophyl the less like plant it will taste.

Dude i use lava rocks with miracle grow soil mixed and run a bubbleponics sytem and 4-23w 6500k cfl's. My plants are going crazy and i use jacks classics nutes for inddor plants. I spray my plants with distiled water 3x daily and 24hrs of light. This is my first attempt and i am in my third week of veg and i have plants that are bushy and a tone of notes. Try it i think you will be happy trim the plants also dead spot steal all of you'r nutes.

@mackernice listen to this guy, your ph will affect the nutrient availability range, if its acidic different nutrients are available at different levels and if it is alkaline different nutes are available depending on the range of your ph, i do ebb&flow bubbleponics and aeroponics my ph is always 5.9, 6.0 for seedlings and germination i use 5.5, 5.6. Seem to have found my groove.

you are missing light spectrum. those lights are ok but you should try maybe actual grow lights or led lights. After two weeks you should have plants atleast 8 to 10 inches.

Also in the dark period don't expose them to light, if your going to have a look at your grow do so during the 18 hr veg cycle, I can't really comment on your grow as concerning the lights as i use 400hps and its Horses For Coarses in that department , Miracle grow is not the way forward a cheap evenly balanced ph soil will a treat for you, like someone commented below i would just grow 1 monster rather than the 8-10 you have going. dude use a neutral soil. If you can get John Innes or some soil with a ph of 6.5 -7.5. I found mixing the soil with bonemeal works great and will keep the ph at neutral balance. peace

dont get miracle grow soil, get just plain potting soil add some perilite to it. Let the plants get up good then add the nutrients with a water soluable fert. Dont over water allow to dry out before watering you can mist though. You will need to change the fert at bud time. To sex the plant take a leaf put stem in water then give it light 12 on 12 off it will get little white hairs if its a female then you can clone from it instead of planting seeds. Over fertilizing and watering big mistake.

sakeowner, if you want to grow more buds.. top your plants, provide low stress training and of course super cropping WARNING(you can do some major damage here). When done correctly, instead of 1 major cola, you will have a few very very big colas. I usually get bout 4x the normal yield

you cant see so early female pistiles, do you have thermometer in box, it is essential in small space, dont put nutriens for a month, there are enough in the soil for month or two for small plants, or go soiless, what colour are yours cfl-s in kelvins, how much is their wattage, how long is your photoperiod, do you have intake-exhaust fan? if you want help you must post info...

Throw a cup full of baking soda in there. then add vinegar and quickly close the lid.

...wait till they R root bound 2 transfer....A good soil base is Perilite + Vermiculite + Pete-Moss + Mushroom Compost ,,,,,You dont need any nutrients when they are that young...you can buy those 4 ingredients at Home-Depot or anywhere like that....& make sure your using GOOOOD WATER --City water sometimes has a bad P.H. balance?

There could be a couple reasons why your plalnts are stunted:
1. Compact florsecent lights run hot so you may not have enough fresh cool air in the grow space.
2. There is not reason to feed plants nutrients of any sort for the first month. All the plants need is fresh water. Roots may be dry or heat stressed.

No.. im sorry, i have 53watt CFL and the surface with a sticky thermometer doesnt go over 32*C
so it cant warm the air hotter then that.
if your getting 100*F "42*C or so

The bulbs dont get that hot. Its the air that does. I had (4) 27watt CFLs in a 3x2x1 box so with all those lights in such a small area that is what got the temp to spike above 90

A surface cant heat the surrounded air higher then itself.
and actually mj grows fine up to 92.
also MJ can handle radiant heat up to about 120.
radiant heat is probably what he has, not air temp.
Radiant heat where MJ grows wild can be up to 140.

CFL are the coolest lights available, what are you talking about.
and nute burn would show on the leaves, not stunt growth.
The logical guess is that is alot of plants in a tiny area without fresh air.
once teh CO2 is used up, they will NOT grow till more CO2 is added.. GET SOME CO2 IN THERE

I would leave them until about 5 weeks then transplant them if your going to because it will give it more of a rootball so that the plant doesnt have to re-establish its roots into new tough soil. Nice plants bro.

and to your question of repotting if roots are coming out bottom definately needs repot. I would say 3-4 weeks and if healthy they could grow out those little pots. Plants will stop growing when this happens. Repot them and they will have growth spurts. ; )

Hello fellow enthusiest. I agree with Jbudd. Foxfarm makes Awesome soil. You should try it and I garantee you will notice good things. Also when you use fresh soil it already has nutes in it usually so dont fertilize for awhile maybe a month even. You'll notice when plants are getting hungry as the leaves turn yellow and plant stops being vigorous. Good Luck!!

@gotama420 Noooo, MG is not GREAT, but its still workable. I would never try to grow in any kind of compost because I can't get the drainage I would need and compost holds a lot of moisture. If you want to use MG, for veg, flush it out one good time and then suppliment with epsom salt and lime, for flower you can use it out of the bag.

LMAO!- u might want to try this- dont use that many cfl's or watts during veg- you're prob running an 18/6 or 24/0 light cycle, and that is too much light for that small of palnts, the reason they are so small is because of the stress of constant lighting at that stregth, you could veg better off of 3 of those cfls in that space

When you see new leaves appearing this means they are are ready for transplanting You should plan on transplanting your plant not more than one time, since the process of transplanting can be a shock to the plant and it will have to undergo a recovery period in which growth is slowed or even stopped for a short while. people just say that so you'll spend more on FF products. MG fertilizer works okay for outdoors because the outdoor environment gets more water and washes salt buildup out of the soil. MG soil will work out of the bag for bloom, and for veg if you flush it out. Maybe you're just not much of a grower.

if you are growin with bag seed aka ditch weed seeds i find that when you get them about 6 inches tall if you trigger the flowering stage 12/12 you will be able to tell your female plants from your male plants in about 2 weeks

by two months you should have full grown, fully mature plants. I've seen them at three and four feet tall at two months. Miracle grow works, it's readily available and it's pH'ed in the bag so you don't have to do soil amendments. But you'll want to add a teaspoon of either garden lime or epsom salts to the soil so that you can add sulfer, magnesium, and calcium. You only need trace amounts so you only do it one time.

sexing is easy. Cutt back to 12hours of light a day, and make sure they get NO MORE! after about 2 weeks males will have pollin sacs by the stalk, and females will have white hairs. i'd say its deffinatly time for you to sex them!

also get a ppm meter to check nutrient parts per million. Start clones at next to nothing 50 and work gradually to 1200 or so at the end stage for flowering, exact numbers or recommendations can be found online, but that will give you an idea and watch the plants they will tell you if they are getting too much. You will burn them so go slowly, during vegetation they can also be sprayed with water top and bottom of leaves once a day. Just stop when you start to flower. Hope it helps

water about 200 ml. (millilitres) every day during vegetation, this keeps the humidity higher. When you plant get 1/2 the hight you want in total start the flowering process 12 light 12 dark. then water 200 ml every 2 days for about 3 weeks then increase to 400 every 2 days this keeps the humidity down. I think they can go another couple of weeks before repot and put them in final pot size.

I know this is only your second attemp, but you need to do a little more research before you actually go to plant the seeds. And yes miracle grow is shitty dont use it. find yourself a good organic soil and make sure not to over water your plants which is what it looks like youre doing. if you want more help just shoot me a message ill give you more info based on my grows

rule of thumb one foot one gallon pot and so on dont over water them water every other day or every two days. judging by your plants dont mess with nutes till you grow without them then ease into useing nutes its takes a little practice

Im not new to growin, just new to CFL because of the clinate im in now.I staered with thes little lights too, until i found out they make 400 watts. I keep the little lights(different spc's)for th botton growth. 'm just a week or so in to it noe, and i put too much nut's in 2 of the pots. I keep 2 seeds per pot (what if ones male?) limit on space., well the extra nuts did stunt the plants growth. I left it for a bit, and there doing better. One pot i added the same if not more nuts there fine?

you dont need to get new dirt if there is too many nutrients or salt in the soil just flush the soil out with water, + dude dont ever interupt the light dark cycle it stresses the plants too much, if you see the roots coming out the bottom then yes transplant... preferably to big pots to reduce number of transplants to reduce stress... dude do some research, buy some books on growing weed and read them...it helps 110%. it pains my heart to see stressed, or unhealthy weed! LEARN YOURSELF FOOL!!

if you see roots coming out of the bottom it is time to transplant into bigger pots with fresh soil. when you do, id suggest if you are using the same soil mix to add more perlite to it for better drainage also put your lights a little closer to the plants about 3-4 inches. ive had the same problem and that really is the cause potting soil its almost just soil with very low nutes, what light cycle is your plants on right now? if they are on 12/12 too early, if on 18/6 good deal, 24/0 thats ok to

u can just start them in a big pot... they can grow from start to finish.......they wont get hairs, or "buds" until u flower them with a 12/12 light cycle.....then in 10days or so you'll start to notice little white hairs (female) ... or little rounds balls (males).... get rid of the males......let the females flower for about 8wks in this 12/12 light cycle...... hope these tips help

honestly i would sex them first, convert back to veg, know whos male and whos female, get the males out, let them grow a little bit more and then just clone the mothers, that way you dont have to bud the vegging females just clone them and grow them for about a month and throw them in the flowering chamber, constant weed!!!

you gotta move your lights up more. your leaves arent reaching hard enough which makes them reach. Also, if their are roots sticking out of teh bottom of your pots, get bigger pots, some pot plants grow as big to need a 5 gallon bucket for one pot plant
