I don't know why people are upset that they changed the Gamilons. The whole point of the Gamilons being human like was the show a parallel between humans and Gamilons. The TV show did that, but a 2 hour film can't add all of the themes and messages from the series. Since they couldn't develop that theme, I think that it was a good decision to make them different, in this situation.

I think I finally figured out what my biggest gripe with this movie was.

It takes the typical scenario where the heroes take on huge swarms of enemies by themselves but they actually made it REALISTIC so the good guys CAN and WILL die - which, in this case, makes every single battle look like the charge of the light brigade.

The only thing I didn't like about this movie was that although it was basically a retelling of the Iscandar adventure, it threw in elements from Farewell/Final Yamato movies as well, namely the assault on the Gamilon base and especially the ending.

But do I think it was garbage? No. Want a garbage Yamato movie? Watch the first animated movie.

The whole original series was a good plot with potential, but The budget obviously limited that. Now this movie has sorta helped it be the movie it always shouldve been

I think the reason they redid iscandar was to make sure that both Yoshinobu Nishizaki fans and Leiji Matsumoto fans would watch it, seeing as they each made their own yamato projects after splitting due to creative differances, doing a sequel means that the fans that swear by the sequels of only one of them would watch it.

I wouldnt want a ton of references to the old TOS I wouldnt get.

Somehow I don't think that the Yuki portrayed in this movie would've put up with Analyzer's perverted behavior one bit. She decked a couple guys, so I'd hate to see what she'd do to him...lol
