your not listening man, bj penn got his black belt when he was 20 he started training at 17 that's when i started training, the ibjjf says you can only get a black belt when your 19 unless your a gracie cause there the pioners (forgive my spelling) of the art you stated that you can be 18 you can't that's all i'm stating man, we should roll sometime (no gi i mean) i'm getting better with the gi though.

@kristichelw yeah that is true, you can get the blue,purple at 16, brown at 18, and black at 19. but the gracies have no exception, the ibjjf rules should apply to everyone, carlos gracie jr, is one of the original founders of the ibjjf =).

Chris here isn't bad at all but BJ knows he's not in any real danger. Its both amazing and frustrating when superior Jits guys will toy with you with the most layed back careless body and facial expressions. They'll often give you an advantage but when you make a sub attempt, they escape as easy as taking off a t-shirt.

Guys, This was in a hotel in New Jersey, days before Joe Lauzon beat Jason Reinhardt. BJ was out there cornering Joe.

@kristichelw bj penn got his black belt in 3 years the ibjjf stats that you need your white for at least 1 year, blue 2-3 years, purple 2 years, brown 2 years, thats 7-8 years minimum they say.. really no one follows those guidelines they also say you need to have your black belt for at least 35 years for your red and black belt, well rickson among others haven't had there black belt for 35 years, and they say the youngest u can be with a red belt is 67 rorion just turned 60..

That was a nice sweep and half speed is done to prove a point. it doesn't matter how slow you move if your opponent doesn't know the counter the move will succeed. It's better for teaching method.

nice lockdown in half, it was quick, that's a nice sweep, but it's harder in mma.

bj was is a spot and the position the other guy had there is so many options.

No, watch videos of guys like Marcelo Garcia rolling with lower belts. They allow themselves to be "swept" and put in bad positions all the time. It's a way for them to let the newbie work from all positions and to make them feel good about their game. Imagine if BJ had turned it on full-force in this match. He would've just destroyed the guy and done nothing to help him learn.
