I was just diagnosed with this as well, but none of my doctors can find a reason. Mine comes and goes light a light going on and off, but I don't have involuntary muscle movements. My speech is a little different from yours: I know what I want to say, but struggle with each syllable, like bad stammering (not stuttering).
@bsifl35 mine first from brain damage, was different in beginning. i get more pressure on brain even from medications (which is what the damage is from) and it gets worse. I also have dystonia in my vocal cords that got worse ofver the years, my throat actually spasms some time,s my ability to speak is worsening and with no medicla care or speech thereapy for it still since Jan 2003 oh canada... sounds like you could benefit from speech therapy.... all best to you
@bsifl35 sounds to me like you might have something called "scanning speech" This is where your brain breaks down words & sentences into syllables making you have to take much effort and concentration. This form of dysarthria doesn't come with problems with the muscles. It is only a problem with the brain itself being unable to put the words together properly. I'm guessing you had some kind of stroke. Whatever the case, despite the doctors being unable to diagnose you can get therapy to help.
@tinky508 no idea, depeneds what the dysrthria is mixed with, intermittent is not "mixed", mine could be mixed as I have the dystonia in vocal cords and brain/cns damage
Hi Cheryl, it breaks my heart to see this. My mother was just recently diagnosed with dysarthria, and it kind of came as a huge devastation to all of us. My mother is only forty-eight years old and has sclerosis of the liver. She has had her gallbladder removed, and has a hernia the size of a bowling ball right by her belly button.
I'm eighteen years old, and I'm having a real difficult time understanding this disease. If you could message me back with some pointers, that would be great. Thanks.
@AriellaStarr this nothing compared to the rest of the pysical damage left with no medical care for years, let alone the severe llnness i have, also have hep c chronic prob need new liver by now. wat About Dysarthria 2 on my channel & research on google. healing blessings to your mom <3
life tha tI know of, unless it temporary from drugs. I have dystonia as well in my neck so it affectign my speech more and more I found out, often I can't speak at all now
I don't have the answer for that, if you get proper care and speech therapy, and support, you would ahve some improvements that vary. I know some is caused by drugs, and go away when you come of them often. For many, it's permanent damage, not relieved by stopping the drug. I don;t know of any surgery;s for this, I have been refused any help at all for all the exensive brai and body damage still. hope that changes soon
years of seizures after 2nd brain damage & came off drug was on since 1992, affected gaba, I still have them, for some time , many months was every day, they leftr me like that. pls to make ur aquantance, and watch ur vid's , I terrified of being in tub, dystonia as well looks similar I have several differnt kinds from antidepressants SSRI's, alot of damage, I don't know how ud do that one in the tub, I have to be bathed and convulsions stopped , even in chair, raising arms sets them off namaste
I have M.E., there may have been prior problems with basial gaglia, this is not proven in all . I am brain damaged from the drugs andmay have had a stroke, the medical records keep changing, that when I came off the med's , dystonia brain damage doesn;t show on MRI, or basial gaglia (SP?) diagnoists made by man yet, really advaced we are. I had concussions when younger , new studies now say are brain injuries. there is a difference between aquired and tramatic brain injuries as well
