  • Are u going to show us how to use the high air pressure pump

  • @ModernMan316

    I do in other videos..

    cheers

    Rick

  • Rick, when storing this gun do you recommend having a little pressure in the gun or not? The only airgun I've owned was a daisy 880 back in the early 80s. I know pump guns need to be stored with at least one pump. Are PCPs the same?

    Thanks

    Kevin

  • @Poseidon45601

    I leave mine full.

    Cheers

    Rick

  • Can a pcp be filled with an air tank. like one id have in my backgarage to run tools or fill car tires?

  • @minecraft12851

No.. please review my Take AIM on how to fill your PCP airgun. It will help you to understand the process.

    Cheers

    Rick

  • I see this rifle also runs on CO2. I noticed Walmart has CO2 tanks for around $25 with 20oz of the co2. The tanks are refillable at any paintball supply store cheap. I like that but how many refills can one get with a 20oz CO2 in the rifle when filling it to 2000psi??And what accessories to do it is needed? Thanks,JR

  • @oldtoys1961

CO2 rests at about 900 psi.. if you look at the discovery manual, you'll see that there are 2 "full" marks. 1 for co2 and 1 for air. You should get a few, 3,4?, fills per 20oz bottle. It is something that I personally plan on testing later next year (2012).

    Cheers

    Rick

  • @AirGunWeb doesn't this thing use the stock from the 392/397

  • @harriet807

    No, I don't believe so.

    Rick

  • @AirGunWeb just bought this rifle today. whats your opinion on this rifle now in 2011? I'm in college and had a tight budget but made it happen haha.

  • @SpringFigsXD89

Still an exceptional gun.. I just sold my old one.. and had to buy a new one because I missed it. I've added the Katana stock and the TKO22 Muzzle break.. what a great gun.. Still love the Disco.

    Rick

  • rick can you remove the true glow open sights and install a muzzle break?

  • @ravenclark62

    yep..

    rick

  • would you worry about moisture from the air to the pump going into the air resivoir of the gun?

  • @AngelosMonark

There is always an issue with that.. unfortunately the only way around it is to use a scuba tank that's been properly filled or a much more expensive hand pump like the Hill Pump.

    Rick

  • @AirGunWeb thought so thanks rick

  • @heavymetal217

I did on mine.. not sure what it will do to the warranty on the gun.. but a quick call to crosman will answer that for you. give them a call and then let us know what they tell us.

    Rick

  • Very nicely done review. Nice gun, very nice, but wow, that's a LOT of money for an air rifle. Yeah, I realize there are some rifles out there that are way more expensive. Personally I use an old Winchester Model 68 .22 rimfire with subsonic target shorts. Very quiet, accurate, and decent power out to 50 yards. Lot's of fun to shoot and it's no louder than a hi-power air rifle. Thanks again for the informative video. Cheers!

  • @BassmanSW The problem is that in town, regardless of how quiet your gun is, shooting a .22 rimfire is illegal. I looked at using a suppressed .22 (which ironically is at least as quiet as the air gun), but it is still illegal and the airgun isn't. As for the money, yeah you could buy 2 good rimfire bolt actions for the same money, but compared to other PCP rifles, it is a real bargain.

  • fantastic video thank you very much for the info! very much looking into this rifle now

  • would i just be able to use a bicycle pump?

  • @ZamaSoldier

no.. a bicycle pump may get to 75 psi.. you need 2000 psi for this gun.

    Cheers

    Rick

  • How hard is it to pump, could i pump this up at 13? (i weigh a lot and am pretty strong).

  • @Facepwner73

The discovery is pretty easy to pump.. It is when you get over 2500 psi that things get hard.

    Rick

  • @AirGunWeb kk ty

  • @AirGunWeb Hey this is irrelevant to the discovery, but my brother was wanting to know how far you could hit a can with a .177 air rifle, he's thinking about getting a stoeger x20 and he wants to know how far he could shoot with it. Also on pyramydair it says that you can get 10% off for labor day, how long does that last?

  • @Facepwner73

There is another coupon.. just hit the chat button if you need one. On the Stoeger x20, a .177 can hit out pretty far with the right shooter and the right pellets. You want to use a heavier pellet for the longer shots.

    Rick

  • @AirGunWeb Why a heavier pellet he thinks the heavier the pellet the more it will drop thus making long shots harder but idk much about that, I know a lot about the rifles (been researching air rifles every day for about a year months and have seen all your videos) but not much at all about pellets/scopes.

  • @Facepwner73

A heavier pellet will retain velocity and energy over a lighter pellet fired at similar velocities. If the lighter pellet was traveling twice as fast or more than twice as fast, there may be an advantage, but that's just not the case with pellet guns. A .177 7.9 grn pellet may fire from a gun at 950 fps. That same class gun may shoot a .22 cal 14.3 grn pellet at 720.. The energy of the shot will be greater in .22 over .177. More energy is generally better.

    Rick

  • @AirGunWeb That makes sense, his final decision was on a walther falcon hunter so he could shoot a .22 fast enough to nail things from far out, pretty awesome gun imo.

  • get a better Camera or more lights .. we see nothing! :P

  • @Billdld

Hey there.. this is 3 years old.. please review my newer stuff available at my channel..

    Cheers

    Rick

  • theres no way i would ever pay 400 dollars for one of these guns when i can just buy a break barrel rifle.

  • @DecayedOfferings

I used to think the same way.. then I shot some.. The power, easy of shooting, and accuracy will surpass just about any break barrel out there. Break barrels that shoot better than PCP will cost as much if not more, i.e. Air Arms TX200. Once you shoot one.. you'll understand.

    Rick

  • Could I use my air Compressor for this. Im not gonna pay an extra 200 bucks for a pump. thanks.

  • @cobraman115

No you can't use a standard compressor.. you need an HPA pump or scuba tank.

    Rick

  • @AirGunWeb i think i could change some nozzles on the compressor

  • @baronmaul

it is not the nozzles.. it is that your standard home / shop compressor goes to 150 psi or so.. you need 2000 psi for this gun and 3000 psi for other pcp rifles..

    Rick

  • can you use a bike tire pump becuz i dont want to pay tht mutch 4 a pump

  • @justin199914

No you can't use a bike pump.. A bike pump may go to 100 psi.. you need 2000 psi.. if you get the kit, it comes with the Discovery pump that will go all the way up to 3600 psi.

    Rick

  • which is better accuracy wise the maurader or discovery?

  • @adamclark94

    The Marauder is more accurate.

    Rick

  • Which is better, the benjamin discovery or the RWS 34?

  • @redteg1

Discovery.. PCP will nearly always be more accurate because there is little to no recoil.

    Rick

  • thank you for actually showing the gun from a distance so i can see the whole thing

    god dam

apparently this task is insurmountable for most people

  • do you have to use a pump ever time?

  • @JaromeCrosby

The gun has a tank built in.. you fill it to 2000 psi and then you shoot about 30 to 40 shots.. then you have to pump it up again.. It takes about 1 to 1.5 pumps per shot to get back to full charge.

    Rick

  • @JaromeCrosby no like every 20 shots

  • @cobraman115

hum.. I got a lot more from my gun.. I'll be getting it from storage soon and will be working more with it.. I'll double check it again.. May be a couple of months.

    Rick

  • this one is professional.. i mean you can go out with out extra weight.. its very light pcp.. i love benjamin discovery..

  • Get a decent camera ffs

  • How can you leave a "springer" cocked without shoot before you damage the spring?

  • @vantage1200

Their is a lot of opinion on this mater.. I'd say to try and not leave it cocked for more than 15 minutes at a time.

    Rick

  • I prefer a springer rather than these pcps... Its just too much messing about for my liking. I did find your views on sighting in a scope very helpful though. Cheers.

  • @mintwithahole

I go back and forth between my springers and my pcp rifles.. If you ever get the chance to shoot a Benjamin Marauder... do so.. you may change your mind somewhat. Glad the scope info helped!

    Cheers

    Rick

  • I am selling a .22 cal Benjamin Discovery, only filled and emptied about 15-20 times. Message me for more info

  • if i use open sights for this rifle will the optional clip get in the way so that i couldnt see the iron sights. thanks

  • @october3ful

I'm not sure.. the sights are VERY low, too low for me to use easily.. you may have a problem.. I haven't looked at disco stuff in a while.. I did not know they had a multi-shot option.

    Rick

  • @AirGunWeb im thinking about getting this rifle for my 10 year old would it be easy for him to fill the gun wih the hand pump?

  • @gunlover900

He'll need to be about 110 lbs to fill the rifle... it is not a strength issue, it is having the weight to depress the pump all the way. I have a buddy that is 165 and can't pump my other guns to 3000 psi.. even when he basically does a handstand on the pump..

    Rick

  • what is the cheapest price for this gun w/pump under 350 thx plz rite back soon

  • @123Peytonfan

not sure... I've seen it coming down here and there.. you'll need to just keep you eyes open.

    Rick

  • @123Peytonfan i beleive i can help you out. follow this link to man venture this one is for 344 plus shipping. however, it wont let me post the link so i will shoot you a message

  • Hi !! Is it posible to have some water build up in the air reservour on this gun ( or for that matter other pcp's ) since the air you are putting into its just regular air but compressed ???

  • @escuadron07

I'm not really sure.. That is a good question.. maybe one of our viewers knows the answer to this one.

    Rick

  • @escuadron07 Air from a pump can contain impurities from the air, or moisture, however the pumps (as far as i am aware) all come with filters to prevent this becoming a serious problem. As long as you keep the service in fairly good nick i havent heard of it becoming a real issue. In the UK i know a new maintube for the disco is around 25 sterling, and the valves next to nothing. Any issue should be cheap to fix on a rifle with so few moving parts!

  • its called a chargeable airtank

  • wouls u suggest this or the falcon hunter my budget is 435 because on pirimad air it is 400 for the discover, scope, rings, pump and pellets

  • @megalizardfreak

I'd suggest the RWS 350 mag striker combo over the Walther Falcon Hunter.

    Rick

  • rick , sorry for all the questions on your videos, but anyways, i am looking for a airgun for christmas, i am wondering does this have enough knock down power to stop a squirel in his tracks? also ive seen on reviews that this guns triger is from a cheaper gun? can i buy a difrent beter triiger for this gun? also what scope do you sugest for a squirel hunter/ plinker i love to plink:) thanks rick(if you think this gun isnt the best for me what three guns should i look at?) thanks

  • @GenerationsOutdoors

This is a GREAT gun. One of my favorites. Yes the trigger is plastic. This is basically a reworked Crosman 2260. It is a real shooter however. Plenty of power out to 60 yards (mine will shoot 1" groups at 60 yards). Any scope will do.. I like my 3-9x40 AO leapers scope for this rifle, but the 3-12x44 is also a good option. You get about one shot per pump and pumping to 2000 psi is a snap.

    Rick

  • Is this going to be good with range say up too 100-150 feet bacause it is EXACTLY WHAT I NEED IN A GOOD MAGNUM AIRGUN I'm willing to spend 200-400 dollars ON A GOOD ONE NOT A LOUSY BREAK BARRELL.

  • @414Sharpshooter

this will do the job. I get 1" groups at 60 yards (180 feet).

    cheers

    Rick

  • @AirGunWeb Thank you so much I now have my christmas gun of choice and thanks again.

  • @414Sharpshooter

let us know how you like it!

    rick

  • what a pain in the ass to fill. I dont see the point of a PCP really, the power is about the same as a break barrel.

  • @bottle2lip

Filling is an issue, but I got a couple of used scuba tanks and solved that problem. 600 to 1000 shots (depending on the gun) for about $6.00 per fill. Having 30 to 50 shots on tap is nice when you are in the field. The real advantage comes in the shooting characteristics. No "springer" recoil makes them far more accurate and easier to shoot. Velocities are generally higher with PCPs. There are only a handful of spring guns that can keep up.

    cheers

    Rick

  • is this gun quiet enogh for back yard shooting

  • @churchpastor1

It can be a little loud for close quarters.

    Rick

  • Is the foster fitting on the discovery the same type as what is used on air compresors & lines? Thanks

  • @NCAstronut

I'm not completely sure... but my guess is that it may be.

    Rick

  • how old do u have to be ?

  • @australianlover1

How old do you have to be for what?

    Rick

  • @AirGunWeb im 16 can i buy it ? at basspro

  • @TheMrmmafighter

You'll need to ask them.. My guess is that you should be able to.

    Rick

  • @AirGunWeb thanks Rick for the info

  • @TheMrmmafighter

    pleasure.....

    Rick

  • can you leave it stored under pressure

    thanks

  • @DKshredaa

    yep.. not a problem.

    Rick

  • is Europe brand air gun like weihrauch and air arms available to buy there? ,

  • @euphoricmonginsidi

yep.. they are a little out of my price range to own.. but I can get them to review.

    Rick

  • hey i need your opinion im looking to get my first break barrel rifle from crosman.com and im stuck between the trail NP XL 1500 and the remington npss .177 idk wat one would b better in general incuding looks can u help?

  • @shadowdayz

very tough choice.. I like the NPSS but if you need 50+ yard range you'll have to go with the NP XL.

    Rick

  • @shadowdayz

also... go .22 over .177.. way better in the long run.

    rick

  • is the pump usable with other PCP rifles or only with the discovery ? Thank you

  • @fabianromano

yes.. you can use it with other guns.. up to 3600 psi.

    Rick

  • I myself have Daystates, great rifles.Older daystates, all steel !!!!! I fried three pumps . I shoot alot, i would get a carbon fiber tank, and shoot till you drop...OH ya dude those groups are BAD . 50 yard 1/4 inch 10 shot groups out of all three daystates i have.

  • @221fireball4227

There are many guns that shoot more accurately than the Discovery.. but as a starter gun with a pump to get into PCP rifles.. you can't beet the discovery.

    Rick

  • im gonna buy this gun in a weak, thx so much for this vid. / Jocke

  • It kinda makes me nervous that the Pressure reservoir might blow up if I we're to be aiming. XD

  • @Naturepheonix

no worries.. that is why they made it to take 2000 psi.. it is virtually the same psi as CO2 under its highest pressure. The reservoir is rated for much higher than 2000... it is perfectly safe.

    Rick

  • @AirGunWeb Oh but does it say how many PSI should we pump in?

and how many good shots can a full charge shoot?

  • @Naturepheonix

in the manual it tells you.. there is a gauge on the gun.. I get about 35 shot between fills.. this is a great gun for a lot of uses.

    Rick

  • @AirGunWeb 35!

    wow that's really good :D

I might buy this gun :)

  • how many m/s?

  • @NLmonsterNL

you'll need to look up a conversion calc on the web.. there are a bunch out there.

    Rick

  • @AirGunWeb alright ill check on the web :)

  • Hey Rick. I am thinking about getting a disco, but I've heard a lot of bad things about the pump. People say that it gets locked in the down position so they have to get another pump. I was wondering if this happens often and whether or not it should determine if I should get the gun or not. Also, are there any other pumps that are compatible with the Disco? Thanks

  • @timscott61495

I've had my disco for a while and have not had any issues with the pump.. but I'm very careful with it.. it is not a bike pump.. it can't get dirty, and can't take abuse. The AirVenturi Pump is also nice, but you'll need the quick disconnect kit from PyarmydAir for it to work with the disco.

    Cheers.

    Rick

  • Did u pump it from zero to operation pressure in less than 2 minutes, or it had already air in it? I' would like to buy this gun, but I don't want to pump more than I shoot.... How much time do u need to pump from 110 to 150 bar? And how much pellets can u fire with 40bar (150->110)?

    Sry on bad English... :(

  • @GitaristTommy

I'm not sure how long it takes to pump from zero, but this gun is about 1 pump per shot.. I pump to 2000 psi and shoot to 1000 psi. I get about 30 or so good shots and then pump it about 35 times.. great gun.. one of my favs.

    Rick

  • Hello I commented that I have a rifle benjamin discovery but I have a problem with charging when connected to pump air rifle loses where it connects (the tip of the rifle) I can advise that I do and take him to a gun shop here in Uruguay and was told that he had no problem but the rifle is impossible to load agradesco you help me thanks

  • @jonapass2

I'd go to the GTA airgun forum and ask those guys (gateway to airguns forum). I'm not a great gun "mechanic." I always have parts left over...

    Rick

  • Hey Rick. I absolutely love your reviews! But I have a question about my scopes. It seems like every time I mount a scope on my rifle, the crosshairs become crooked. It is unnoticeable while shooting manually, but when shooting from a stand you can see how crooked they are. This makes it hard for me to estimate range with my mil-dot scopes. Do you have any advice on how to level out my crosshairs? Thanks, Tim

  • @timscott61495

more than likely when shooting from the shoulder you are canting the rifle. I noticed this first when I setup a rifle for a buddy of mine that was a lefty.. looked fine for me.. crooked for him.. What you need to do is mount your scope for bench shooting. Then learn to hold it straight.. you may be naturally compensating for the angled cross hairs when you are shooting from the shoulder.

    Rick

  • hi,is there any videos of repairs to a 392 benjamin ? i am leaking air( and not from my butt) lol....any info please.

  • Try the GTA forum for info.. someone there may have a link or two.. also PyramydAir's blog may have some info.. I'm not the right guy for taking things apart.. I always have stuff left over... :)

    Rick

  • could u use a compresser

  • if it was an HPA compressor then yes.. but a standard compressor no.. they only go 130 or 150.. this gun needs 2000 psi to operate.

    Rick

  • I was wondering if u could also use that pump to fill up a high pressure air tank like one that goes on a paintball gun. thanks

  • you might be able to... but you'd be pumping for a very long time.

    rick

  • thanks. it is just a pain to go to the proshop every time i need air

  • yep... I hear you.

    Rick

  • @futballviking is this guy seriously considering this?

  • Very nice Gun with excelent quality and completions, in my country the price is 1000 usd or a little bit more, but if found that is a very intesresting pcp.

  • Finally somebody who knows how to do a decent review! Thank you.

  • thanks for the comments.. I'm trying... :)

    Rick

  • Hey since you no tons on air guns can you tell me if the benjamin pump i have can work on other pcp like air force, air arms, or any other pcps.

  • yes it will.. I'd get setup to use quick release fittings.. the folks over at Pyramyd can help you get all you need for each gun you are looking to fill.

    rick

  • Can you use like an auto matic car tire pump?

  • no.. those top out at like 150 psi.. this gun needs 2000 psi.

    Rick

  • is it possible to get a left benjamin discovery, with the bolt on the left not right?

  • not that I know of...

    rick

  • if this guy is putting all of his weight on the pump just to fill the rifle i might as well give up!...

  • This rifle at 2000 psi is not hard to fill... you need to be 120 pounds or there abouts to get it done. Or you can get a scuba tank.. I just got a used tank for less than $100 from a local dive shop... now... no more pumping.

    Rick

  • thanks!

  • can i buy this gun of you or where can i get 1

  • you can go to PyramydAir's site and get it in various configurations.

    cheers.

    Rick

  • rick I have been watching a lot of your videos and I have concluded that you are the man mad respect for all your reviews very helpful advice and to the point.

  • Thank you.. I try to look at the good and the bad on each product so people make the most informed decision.

    Cheers.

    Rick

  • can you put a KTO brake on it legally in the states?

I heard it kills the sound a lot

  • my guess is ... not without the proper license and permits.

    Rick

  • can you use this pump to fill a paintball tank?

and does the discovery come with a degasser??

  • re paintball tank.. not sure...

    degasser: nope.. separate item.

    Rick

  • Nice vid. keep em comin.

  • Thank you.

    rick

  • What would you say the volume of this gun is comparable to?

  • not as loud as a 22 lr.. more line a 22 short.

    Rick

  • do you know where to fix a 1970s gun

  • check with the GTA forum and PyramydAir blog.

    Rick

  • i just got one it is old rusty and along time ago it cost only $10 lol thanl got for that old guy who gave it to me

  • the Discovery is only about 2 years old... what gun did you get?

    Rick

  • is this gun loud?

is it possible to fit in a suppresor on it?

  • it is loud.. it is not possible to put a suppressor on it here in the states without a BATF permit. The Marauder comes fully "moderated" and is very quiet.

    Rick

  • lol...

  • how much is that gun

  • $400 for the kit.. I've heard some people are selling it for less.

    Rick

  • isthis gun strong enogh to kill a coon? or rabbit becuase i want to kil it instantly it bothers me when i see the animal twitch

  • you need good shot placement, but this is the right gun for the job.

    Rick

  • you need a special compressor.. this needs 2000 psi.

    Rick

  • whats the fps aproximately?

  • in the 800s... watch the video.

    Rick

  • I have commented on your 1760 se review, I've been asking questions on the 2260. Correct me if I am wrong but the Discovery looks a lot like the 2260 with an air reservoir and a few other differences. How long would that Benjamin last, because I got a Sheridan Blue Streak that is about 40 years old and works fine today? Also, on Compasseco's site they added your discovery vs. water jug video.

  • the Discovery is a reworked 2260. I guess we'll see how she holds up..

    Rick

  • Is it bad to fill this gun past 2000 psi? or can it go to 2200 psi and if you can pump it up to around 2200 psi does it give you more shots per fill?

  • nope.. just wasted effort.

    Rick

  • Do you know if and where I can get a silencer for the discovery

  • yep.. it is called the Benjamin Marauder... (just kidding) As for a silencer for the discovery.. not that I know of.. if you are in the states... to add one will put you in hot water with the BATF unless you have the proper license to own and use a removable silencer...

    Rick

  • I can get 4 REAL rifles for this much. Or a suppressed .22. Guess if you like em, you dont mind paying out the noze.

  • rick, this rifle is more powerful than Hatsan AT 44?. thanks

  • not sure... never shot a Hatsan AT 44.

    Rick
