I don't agree with your distinction between "impersonal" and "personal" deities. Deists have an impersonal deity who is individuated, but has set the laws of the universe in motion, making the universe perpetual and self-maintaining, thus, requiring no intervention on the deity's behalf.
@NeoDarkArckan Also, I'm not a Deist. I'm a hard polytheist working within an animist frame of thought so please don't take the previous comment as if I'm "offended". It's just intelligent discussion. Furthermore, what you're speaking of is not "Pantheism" it's "Pandeism". Pandeism is a combination of both Pantheism and Deism. It's the belief that a Deity created the universe, but became the universe in the process and ceased to be self-aware.
@NeoDarkArckan Also, even in Deism, the things we call "spiritual" and "the spirit world" are parts of nature, perpetual and self-sustaining, having their own working principles, and thus requiring no intervention on behalf of Deity. I think you're also misinterpreting the whole "All is one, one is all". It's not literal, it's a riddle. It refers to the fact that the universe is fractal.
@NeoDarkArckan What you're referring to, in regards to divine judgement etc. is hard monotheism and nothing but deified tyranny, once you begin ignoring the smokescreens and just get to the bottom line.
i don't know if you are interested or not but i went to my lit. class about transendentalism when i was watching you. :)) especially your depiction of nature as an organic unity...reminds me transendentalism.
HI CUTIE-PIE. :) You look so gorgeous. I love the red hair and your make up looks amazing. I had to say that. :) Ok. Now, I love the concept of God as Universal energy, as sort of an energy force that moves, changes, destroys and creates all, it is all, it is living and constantly changing. I love Pantheism. xox Jadu
@TheTempleofNature oh yes. absolutely. I wish that we all were united in spirituality or at least we could all accept all paths as different and legitimate expressions of spirituality. If all religions were united under philosophical umbrella of Divine Universe, we would have much less issues in the world. Love you. xoxo
I really love this video! Well spoken. :) Your description of the Universe as God is so similar to what I believe. I have a different way of thinking about the consciousness of the Universe, but I do see it as a giant infinite organism and as the ultimate Divine. The patterns in the Universe really show how everything is connected and that the universe is one being in my opinion. It is so beautiful. Thanks for sharing. :)
@NovelSunrise You're very welcome sunshine :) The consciousness of the Universe is a difficult concept to get your head around, it took me a while to figure it out, but I have a video I think it's called "the conscious universe" that may help :)
Makes me think about Nietzsche's Parable of the Madman. I like the way you think of the divine as an "organism". What do you think about the idea of God/Godess as a reflection of the collective unconsciousness?
:O WAAAAAAAA... you're into Spinoza but not Jung?... that's like jelly without peanut butter!
If you get Spinoza you should definitely check out Jung's work. It's not as abstract as Spinoza but it does create an awesome psychological web that makes various cultures and rituals blend in a sort of universal melody.
If you have 20 min to spare their is a neat BBC documentary about jung on youtube called Carl Jung: sea of faith
@TheIbdeathskull LOL :) I have tried reading Jung in the past but I should definitely try some more and figure out his perspective. Oh BBC documentary that sounds very helpful thank you :)
@TheTempleofNature hmmm... well the mainstream psychological side of jung is pretty straightforward, like if you wikipedia jung's archetypes that will give you the basic outline for deciphering the collective unconscious in myth and narrative.
In my own head i tried to simplify the theory so that the child, persona, anima/animus, shadow, and self act as the basic pentatonic scale (the universal aspect of melody). Like in music the scale has many notes in-between.
@TheIbdeathskull I feel like this concept of archetypes over simplifies the complex and diverse mythologies of the world. I find it difficult to believe that they all share the same psychological narrative.
@TheTempleofNature You are correct! Jungian archetypes are just tools for looking at fiction writing. By no means are they supposed to represent any sort of totality within fiction writing/and or mythology.
Archetypes just tend to be the most emotionally interesting characters in fiction writing. Non-fiction writers can simply write from reality. Fiction writers have to create reality from within. Archetypes are aids for making real inner emotions manifest in fiction characters.
@TheTempleofNature Jung's actual writing on archetypes are more complex... he never completed his list of archetypes he just kept on describing more and more archetypes. He even has a fish archetype, lol.
The five that I chose are just one example of how I like to use the archetypes (and yea it is pretty simple... I like to be lazy whenever possible, :p). Your own perspective is the most important. The most important archetypes are the ones that you see in yourself!
however, if you want a book to sink your teeth deeper into the philosophical side of jung check out jung's The Psychology of Kundalini Yoga (kinda intense but not that long... perfect for lazy ppl like me :p)
@27kittykitty To answer briefly, Pantheists don't believe in afterlife because we don't recognise any beginning or end to life. Humans are a part of this infinite life form we call Universe.
