I can't get any gmail or market apps working... I don't get a screen asking what I want to install. It just starts and has market on the main screen. I try to log in and it errors out and wont connect. I can't even go back to stock! I erased CM7 from my card, did a nandroid install of my stock rom, and it still comes up CM7.. WTF?

got two issues:

downloaded and flashed the zip all fine but at 02:52 i pressed ok but next screen (to install the apps) dosnt come up and it just skipps to the accept androids terms. (is that okay?)

and

ive got android market now but it keeps on crashing and my connection keeps timing out. any advice on what to do??

Yea it is confusing, seems like the site layout has changed, but if you pause on this video at 0.53, there you will see the file name, that's what i did, i used that file name to search for the download, and i got it.

So, go to goo-inside.me/gapps/ and type in gapps-gb-20110613-signed.zip in the search box, and that should bring up the zip file for you to download. Good luck

thanks @2toomanyhobbies im gonna try cyano7 on my own phone soon rooted this evo shift for a friend and my sis wants me to do her evo4g and i will then switch from iphones shackles lmao. thanks for the video. for everyone else install the google apps beforehand because i didnt and went as far as installing market into adb (didnt even work right) and its a pain in the ass. save yourself the headache and do it when you flash the rom. peace!

easy way would've been to download market app apk and store on SD card, install using file manager, then sign in agree to every thing and download only the things you want.

At around 2.50 it asks you the question of whether you want to run the google app program now or later which installs lots of google apps, if you click cancel how do you bring it back up again? I don't want it using my mobile network. Thanks!

I've done exactly what you did. but after i install the file. i go back to reboot my phone. and when it boots up the "backup and restore" screen does not show.it will have the market app there, but when i go to it asks to connect an account to my phone.When i try though its not the google account like its suppose to be. im using the Evo 4g. It's weird that they don't bundle the 5mb gapps update/zip with Cyanogenmod. Such a hassle when your nexus one's power button is broken...

But android market is "online" now so in theory you should be able to download apps anyway (or via PC),

can you download market app from market or must it be done this way?

@anonimac86 Good point. I'm pretty sure you can just find and download the correct market .apk, put it on your sd card and install it from there, but many people might be more comfortable doing it this way, especially since it is a 100% surely compatible method.

The market cannot be downloaded from the online version of the market (if that makes sense lol), you would have to get it from a different source.
