  • Better than using a class 37 or class 47 Does Tangmere fail each time she does the Torbay express?

  • Hark at the exhaust from Goliath as she pulls away! Every beat as crisp and sharp as a rifle shot. Those blokes at Swindon certainly knew their stuff about building efficient valve gear - and Goliath proves it!

Fair play, Goliath was built for heavy haulage - but how steep is Goodrington? There are lots of stiff climbs on the Southern, and Bulleid should have built his engines to suit. The King Arthurs and Schools coped with the lot!

To me, Bulleids pacifics were just an unjustifiable ego trip.

  • Goliath is an absolute beast. Tangmere isn't working at all when it starts off. It just taskes off up the bank with that massive load. Beautiful film. Well done

  • Indeed She is. Goliath does have the advantage of doing what she was designed to do. It used to work the heavy coal trains in the welsh mountains I believe.
