Stopped watching here, tired of him floundering through conversations and just picking options for the sake of it with no sense of roleplaying. Hate me all you want, just stating my reasons.
Yeah, you can charm the tentacled slimy thing into thinking this isn't the right way to spread the message of his 'gods' and he'll go. No need to waste 150 credits on him (plus, giving money to religious nuts is against everything I believe in as an atheist... which is a bit self-contradictory combination of words, but hey, you see what I mean).
It's probably been mentioned before but that blue-ish light looks like it's the game simulating an anamorphic lens flare. Without getting super technical, these camera and projector lenses would compress / decompress captured images on 35mm film horizontally so that they'd have optimal resolution when presented on a wide screen. The thin long bluish horizontal flare is signature to the anamorphic lenses used in film making (or used to be). In short the devs wanted the game to look like a movie.
I have to say, I'm EXTREMELY enjoying this let's play of Mass Effect. Without a doubt the best one out there. It's blind enough that you share your wonderment and you have curiosity to explore, but you are very level-headed, and it's fascinating to hear your train of thought concerning things such as religion and when picking which conversation option to choose.
Stupendous! Please, I hope that you do more RPGs with a similar playing style. I'll definitely be watching more.
