This was quite a disturbing film to see - as it was supposed to be. Very familiar and utterly inherent in the industry sadly. I watched my mother-in-law, brother and several friends as 'victims' of this system. However, while we blatantly under-value this type of work by offering the jobs at minimum wage and continue to employ many unqualified, unskilled people, how can we be surprised at the level of care assistants we get? BH
This film absolutely portrays the common 'does he take sugar' behaviour but also highlights the seeming lack of the need for good manners when 'dealing' with those in care. Those in care would seem to become invisible and victims. ln the eyes of the carer, not only an easy target for uncivilised, unkind behaviour; they are also treated like children, in a bullying, controlling way. Really commonly displayed behaviour. Excellently illustrated in this. BH
I found it very ‘good’, & so real, I've just been thro difficulties with my mum & a live in agency carer, it made the whole episode very emotional. This shows so clearly what can & sadly does happen in some cases. The young girl reminded me of me, my 1st day working at a psychiatric unit years ago. Thinking this is not the way I thought it would be, not quite sure who to speak to or what to do about it, & ending up thinking ‘it must be me that’s got the wrong idea’. I left after 6 mths!

An excellent video - so cleverly scripted to make so many points in such a shortish piece. Every carer should see it - use it for training again and again.
