  • Great Thanks Esther:)

  • my feet start slipping off the wall - am i doing sth wrong?

  • I am a bit amazed how people criticize your accent ... not really "yoguic"; unilateral thinking. I've been following your vids since some months and I really like them a lot and think your accent makes you special and it sounds sweet to me. But the most important thing: I love your yoga and everything is well explained. Please go on, you are inspiring me. XXX Love & Peace

  • Excellent video, thanks

  • Exellent video, thanks

  • and then you can just jump up with no explanation as to how to stabilize legs...just get used to it...haha

    where is yoga flame?

  • @sbrust1 Wrong on both counts. Work on your manners.

  • very helpful thanks

  • what can i do, if i can't throw my feets above??

  • really great video!!! i will try it soon : )

  • mhh oke i thougt you was dutch sorry

  • Yeeeh Ireland

  • @sbrust1 English accent is no good in Ireland!

  • Very helpful thanks. Could you teach forearm stand too?

  • Hi Esther, how do I build strength for this pose?

  • Esther, i love you so much!!!

  • thank you so much !

  • she doesnt point out that there are other ways to move into the handstand

  • man handstands are hard, but I'm already better than yesterday @_@

  • You have a really nice accent and nice tutorial!!

    I`m finally getting it!!!

  • nice work Esther

does it help balance by breathing with awareness through core / navel ?

some days i can balance without the wall and some days not

    why is it so ?

    Hari Om Tat Sat :)))

  • @hearttobefelt I have the same problem sometimes!

  • Ester you are such a great teacher. Thanks for this video.

    Shanti :)

  • She looked so graceful when she kicked off. I tried and hit my feet on the wall. Ow

  • youtube hassel handstand

  • i'm fat... i wonder if i can do all these stuff. ps.: i'm not that fat xD

  • what about downward facing cat? xDDDDD

  • I learned the Hand Stand through Charles Atlas!

  • amazing i tried it and it works amazingly even tho im to afraid to try it full out

  • i <3 how russian she is.

  • Don't you mean Dutch?

Both the last name and S's suggest such an origin...

  • of course i mean dutch >:)

  • That room is awesome.

  • Irishhh!! how to do a handstanddd

  • Hi,

I am a 20 yr old male, i am of a thin muscular build but i am unfit. i have always wanted to master the handstand. Today i tried it and i was very unbalanced which i found odd as i have exceptional balance on my feet. I also noticed that it felt like my head was going to explode, will this feeling subside over time?

    Thanks

  • the reason your head felt like that is because the blood was rushing to it

it is very important to breathe when doing the handstand, and if you don't, your head will start to hurt. It will be hard at first, to concentrate on both at once, but practice makes perfect :)

try doing a handstand against a wall, and then breathe in and out. You will find that the pain in your head will go away.

also, once you are doing a handstand against the wall, try to push off the wall and balance by

  • using your fingers. Once you master the handstand, you will be able to stay in one place, and just use your fingers to maintain balance

do a handstand, right up against the wall, and lightly kick off with your feet. It will give your body a feel for balancing on your hands.

I did that for a few weeks, and now, I can hold a handstand in one position for a mnute straight ^_^

good luck my friend! I hope I helped:)

Feel free to message me if you have any questions or need any help

  • That was really helpful. Thanks for the advice :) I have been practicing on and off for a while and i have gotten over the head rush problems using the methods you described. I am just having a bit of trouble keeping balance for more that 1 or 2 seconds. I have gotten lucky with 10 seconds a couple of times! I think i just need more arm and shoulder strength to manipulate my weight better haha! sorry about the late reply. I just found the comment section in my account :p

  • @mark111112

oh, I'm glad the head rush doesn't bother you anymore :D

yeah haha, handstands definately build up muscle. Just make sure you take in lots of protein, and your body will get stronger

    '

my back is ripped now b/c of handstands haha

  • nice blonde

  • nahhh mateca que esto lo colgaron para los pajeros que le quieren ojear la cachucha a la gringa esta!!!!!

  • i used to do it a lot as a kid. Somehow I feel that it damaged my eyes...they always stay red.

  • in fact, inversions are not recommended in case of eye problems. If your eyes are ok, then inversions are amazing.

  • hmm i´ve never seen this asana . it is not described in any hatha yoga teaching book nor anywhere else, this is not traditional yoga and what will you do next , after the handstand? for what is it good if you aim on kundalini as highest goal to achieve in yoga sadhana , this seems to be more gymnastik or kind of fitness training than it seems to be yoga

  • inversions are good for internal organs. the connective tissue that suspends them gets to flex.

  • o.k. but yoga should be static not moving and wothout helping tools like a wall, in the yoga sutra of üatanjali it is describd how the hatha should be done, but it is o.k. for everyone who gains something with it , i just wanted to say that this so far as i now no asana, expect you can do it free and hold the asana for ar least 3 breaths and then come slowly in the way you did it back , this is how i got teached to pratice

  • HER ACCENT IS HOT!

sounds really chauvinistic but i really can't help it.

    cool video.

  • no it is more the sweety who is performing it...

  • heloy! 5 points. t.veijo finland.

  • nice muc

    scle...

  • 1:09 - you make it look so easy!

  • She's really cute :)

  • Has many health benefits........evryone could try this at some point of time

  • FIVE STARS!!!!!

  • I did this everyday at home when I was a teenager but my parents banned me as they thought it was a starnge thing to do. I did not know it was yoga nor did my parents ha ha ha

  • i do my hand stand a little diffrent but i never thought of doing a hand stand like that ill try it :)

  • Tried yoga before, but couldn't get into it! Sorry!

  • probably the wrong teacher. :) it's amazing if you stick with it.

  • 1:03

yeah it was fun to do except the part when i fell and hit my head lol xD

  • lol i can do that regular. without a wall. i am in gymnastics.

  • Dude.. it isnt whether u can do it or not. The essence of yoga is to practise yoga regularly and reap the benefits. It is not something to show-off.

(Surely ur work-outs at gym is uncomparable with yoga)

  • muchas gracias senora

  • thats amazing thing you are doing because every women cant do this things.

  • Jeah she really sounds dutch,

    he ok now though,

    thanks for the help!

  • how do you know that?

and her last name is dutch too so yeah she is dutch

  • She is not Dutch & her name is not Dutch! Her name is Scandinavian so she may be Swedish or Danish.

  • not danish, Not the right accent. swedish or norwegen? i think

  • I love the accent. She has a really good voice for videos.

  • Thank you... its good to hear something positive about my accent!

  • She sounds Dutch

  • i can tell she used to be REALLY attractive when she was younger

  • She still is REALLY attractive !!

  • wow, looks great!

  • If you were a beginner of yoga you would tie your own body into a knot.

  • are you dutch?? cuz your english isn't really that well..

  • Well I just looked on your profile and her English is 10x better than yours.

  • hahahahahaha

  • What do u mean her English is fine! Better than yours!

  • I have been doing hand stand for over 2 years. I still need support from wall.

I usually do it in the morning . I love it so much, consider I'm almost 48 years old.

Thank you for sharing this video with us.

  • and functioned at a very sophisticated level. Consequently, American artists had to search deeper for dramatic styles that would distance art from the well-designed and clever commercial materials

  • I loooove the accent. where is she from?

  • Esther is from Holland.

  • were u in circus before recording this video

  • That was cool! She makes it look so effortless, smooth and graceful. Certainly a beautiful handstand.

  • that was a good one i never luaghed like that before... haha [= ... i like this one ... what made you want to do that?

  • reminds me of julie delpy

  • you dont look at your hands you look behind you

  • If you want to learn hollowback in breaking

    practice that. =]

  • Thank you very much. I appreciate the gift of such a step by step instruction.

  • lol, i was doing that without knowing it is yoga, :)

  • good education about yoga. she teach well about mind spirit freedom, relax and slowless without stress. but it's sade today we living too fast.

  • looking down and curving your back isn't good. I used to do breakdancing and this is a no-no.

  • I could probably do a handstand for 30 mins if my blood stops rushing to my head after 5 mins

  • easy with the wall. way too easy.. i can do 54 steps with my hands :)

  • Anyone else thinking what I`m thinking while watching that?

    :)

  • r u hungry too? man... I can't belive it! xD

  • I've just watched and done one!

    Felt Great!

  • 0___0

  • That Swedish woman sounds Norwegian.

  • roflmao

  • I thought she was Spanish

  • dude, im 11, i could do since i was 5

  • I'm 16. wish i was able to do that...and anyway, when you get to 16, things already start gettign more difficult, never mind 30! :)

  • by the way, i'mm only 14 and I can do this , then go to splits in air (straddle) and release one hand in the air. Everyone is acting like it looks real scary but its actually really not , honest !

  • hicha dana lai valvalay laglay, hichya phodryat kunitari land ghala.

  • This yoga helps you to increse your memory power.

  • Its called SAFETY PRECAUTIONS she's actually very talented and i bet you're just jealous cos u cant do it as well as her!

  • wtf "safety precautions" .... you either do a hand stand or not ... doin it against the wall doesn't show anything ......like i could do that when i was 6 :P

  • 3:20 to explain how to do a handstand against a wall :S

  • i can do it >:D

  • Comment removed

  • lol same here hahaha

  • hehe me as well

  • Last time i tried that my arm nearly fell off!!

  • not on your own there...

  • Nice Vid, I would like to add to this, I reccomend having someone with you though as its dangerous. Once against the wall, SLOWLY bend your arms lowering you head and then straiten your arms again. Its like a verticle press up :)

  • nice

  • Sadly I'd probably have difficulty getting to the first stage (31secs). Must do some stretching exercises, I'm still fairly young! Too much time at the computer.

  • "get a student to demostrate while you explain along with using some editor, that would've helped in the learning experience way better, and do improve your pronounciation as well!"

I think you're wrong, it would make little to no difference if she had a student do it. Its fine the way it is.

She doesn't need to improve her accent, you need to improve your hearing!

Don't listen to him Esther he's only out to criticise.

  • Maybe you'd prefer if the clip was dubbed with an American accent (it must be hard for people like you, trying to understand the bigger picture that YouTube brings to you)

  • nice moves

  • the head stand might be easier because it supports you neck and shoulders more evenly and outs less stress on your wrists.

  • [Comment Deleted]

  • how long would you say it takes to go from the 90 degree angle in the wall to doing the handstand?

how long would you say to do the handstand each day or is it like exercise and you need to do timed reps?
