I need help because when i take away the updates and when i go to the Gears of war 3 main menu where u press start is freezes my screen and i tred waiting and i waited for like 15 mins and nothing happed... am i doing something wrong?

dayum it worked ... when it said that file was corrupted or something an I need to make a new save file I did just to keep infinite ammo alone... but when I updated again ... nothing went away... same stuff and now infinite ammo.. thanks

Just did this today, works perfectly, just make sure you dont overwrite your data (this is what resets your rank to 0), it will ask you once you start gears offline after wiping the cache, and also will ask to overwrite again once you come out of horde mode, and pretty much will ask constantly until you re-download the update. Be careful, don't press A!

You can't get reset because you aren't physically manipulating the game. Your just deleting patches. It's like if someone who doesn't have online does this then gets live for the first time. It's not their fault that it's easy to do.

Worked perfectly. Got 1000 (not a typo) ribbons very quickly. Yes you do have to clear cache, especially if you stop and restart horde or else it wont give you anymore ribbons. Thanks man.

@l3allinJames nope :). i set up a public arcade campaign mode, put on inf ammo & super reload, went from beginning to end with 4 player co-op on insane difficulty, and it was a lot of fun lighting up locus with ease! friends loved that only one person (me) needed to turn on the powerups and everyone could share.

Yes, that's where it started; it froze when starting to download the update & wouldn't connect. I managed somehow to get back to the update screen again, and the same thing happened. Froze me up, wouldn't connect to Live.

I can get into live from my dashboard by powering on the box, but after I try to connect in Gears, I can't get into live, even from the dashboard; I have to power down, power back on to connect.
