I'm not bashing Sasha at all, but just look at this video, look at her arms and legs, then look at her 2010 nationals videos. She was so so thin at 2010. Here she looks extremely healthy and strong. Just an observation. She just seems to have a lot of power in this video

it seems that now she prefers under the boot tights anyway, maybe this is why. She did have a big hole and you'd think that for such a high ranking skater she would have taken care of that. Sasha's one of my favorite skaters because of her grace and her spins, but some of her jumps and footwork and especially her ATTITUDE need some work!

I love that move at 2:35 when she kicks her leg out in front of her then swings it back behind her looking graceful and gorgeous the whole time. Well grace and beauty just comes natural to her. Imagine Rachel Flatt trying to pull that move LOL. Judges were on crack or something to score so low.

she had a massive hole in her over the boot tights. and as much as i love sasha and her million dollar clean program.... it just totally took attention away from the performance and made her look unkept, sloppy and unprofessional. she should have known by then to either take two pairs of tights or to bring flesh coloured bandaids to comps so in emergencies you can just stick them on your boot under the hole so its not as noticeable :/

i love her so much but even for me this just seemed so slow and boring!!!! also, i know this will be bad to say but we all know its true. in figure skating (especially in those years) the name counts for a lot. this was before 2002 where she peaked in the oylmpics. and notice how after 2002 her scores were always super high....whether she faulted in the routine or not. no one quite knew who she was in 2001. she wasnt "omg sasha cohen" til after the 2002 olympics.

I thought her marks were pretty fair. She didn't have a lot of speed, she had a noticible flutz, her footwork sequence was rather simple, and choreographically the program was kind of empty, with a LOT of crossovers. It was a clean program but it wasn't dazzling.

Maybe they thought her footwork was a little lacking. Perhaps they thought the spins could have been more complex. Or maybe they noticed the hole in her tights. I don't know; I'm really just guessing because it seemed like a good program to me.

@PecanSandees23 I don't get it. I can see a deduction for the footwork. (The spins were gorgeous.) Maybe she flutzed the combo? Even with those deductions 5.2s and 5.3s are still too low. And the presentation marks were too low as well.

at this point in her career, you have to remember she was pretty much unknown. she won silver at the senior nationals, but she wasn't well known on the international circuit yet. she missed a season after her win at nationals with an injury. whether people admit it or not, figure skating is all about seniority and working your way up thru the ranks, paying your dues. her scores were low and other skater's may have been inflated, but that's the way the sport was and still is.

Those marks are too laughable to be taken seriously. You can see her and her coach's confusion as well at the end. She shakes her head as if to say, "What did I do now??!!" Seven years later we're still wondering that, Sasha. Nothing high than a 5.4 for technical merit and 5.6s for PRESENTATION??!! If she'd slid across the ice on her head she would have gotten better marks! Does anyone know who she was competing against at this event and who won it?

i know. it should have been 6.0 across the board everything she skated this number. The chreography, musicality and lines here are better than anything michelle ever did and got 6.0's poured on.

I really dislike Michelle (though I'm no fan), but I do think many young American talents were short-shifted to keep her at the top of the sport through SLC. Sasha's marks are scandalous; no informed FS fan can take them seriously. I just can't get over those 5.4s and 5.6s; she sometimes got comparable marks when she fell! I also agree that some of Michelle's 6.0s were unfair. She deserved some ('04 Nats), but many other were ludicrous, like at '01 Nats. She skated clean, but not perfectly.

This SP is a masterpiece. Everything is wonderful: the brilliant music choice, the stunning choreography, and the interesting innovation. Did you notice how perfectly the highlights of the music were utilized? Like at 2:05 when she strikes the air with her hand to emphasize the highlight. I loved the reworked version of this SP because it had even more of those. It shows the skater is trying to contain their movement with the music.

I think Sasha had the best SP of the elite ladies at the Olympics. She should have won the SP there. I loved Michelle's Rach in '98, but I thought it was really lame when she resurrected it and she never skated it with the same fire. Sarah had some brilliant SPs, but I think Ave Maria was the worst of her career. As for Irina's, the "artistry" was so forced it was awful. Only Sasha's attained true beauty.

There weren't any japanese judge. The judges were from Russia, Finland, China, Canada and USA.
