Well If you can put it Horizontally and on the top of your tv-furniture if you can't then minimum of about 5 cm I think...

It doesn't really matter with ps3 with the xbox you need a really open space because of the RROD

Don't worry I've had the first edition ps3 and It hasn't overheated

the ps3 really doesn't need allot of space. It gets really hot but it is designed to take the high temperatures. If you plan on keeping it on for long durations and if you are really concerned you can buy a inter cooler for about $20 in places like gamestop, eb games, and target,  or you can buy one online. They are known to be loud but better safe than sorry.

instead of using the chat pad for ps3 you should just use a wireless keyboard and mouse. ;) might be bigger then the chat pad, but if u kept the wireless keyboard at the side of your chair or couch... it's epic to have.

Yes, you get way faster internet multi player when you are connected through ethernet and not wifi, wifi is slow! No way DLB, I got the same external black WD 1TB HDD for my Mac too!

wifi is not slower, it all depends on the router, if you have a 10mb down and 5mb up, wifi doesn't make a difference, it only makes a difference for connections at more than 54MBPS as that is the effective speed of wireless G, N on the other hand can go to 100MBps

I bought a 1TB Wester Digital HD like 2 years ago and I put all my tv shows and movies I get off Vuze in there. It makes it way easier if you put all the videos into separate folders for movies and shows.
