In a surprise development, Repair California may be dumping its early consideration for a citizen assembly to rewrite the Constitution and may instead be leaning towards a legislative appointee model. More news to come.
A very reassuring participant in the leadership of this particular group is Steven Hill, a distinguished electoral activist. Hill is leading the discussion and advising on the myriad of approaches that can be taken to select the public representatives who take part.
All the more reason for Progressives to make sure they are going to the public forums and are monitoring the developments of this reform group, don't you think?
In early Sept. 09, state legislators responded to the pressure put upon them by reform groups such as Repair California, California Action Network and California Forward by forming a bilateral, bicameral committee to reform govt. Check out who Wunderman represents at the Bay Area Council, the real backers of Repair California. They will not pass any thing that does not benefit their bottom line, they are it for the money as their Board of Directors represent some of the most venal private equity and venture fund capitalists on the planet.
