  • So sad ;' (

  • Our Mall is like this too in SW Va.

  • @VibrationsfromMirror it's getting worse isn't it????

  • In Kansas city, there are at least five malls empty like that.

  • "Underwear shop" -- classic. Dad zooms in on the model -- awesome. xD

  • Wow, there's more puppies in that mall than there is people!

  • @eventxxxhorizon lol ..ain't that the truth....

  • Try to lease one of those empty spaces, the management company would not come off the rent one dime I would venture to say. better to get something than set empty. Folks you haven't seen anything yet. the 2nd wave of collapse will be here soon.

  • "underwear shop" ROFL

"where did your wife go?""oh she went to the underwear shop" LOL

the vacancies there you say "this is what is happening here"

THAT is what is happening in a lot of places. your not alone.

People shop online now and that is a good thing. We don't need these hulking cement ugliness dotting our landscape.

Imagine how things will be in a year. Five years.

Be glad your not the owner.

Thanks for the vid. cute kid.

  • There should be live bands playing and people dancing. Bring in a carnival liven that place up.... :-(

  • @pgm98387 maybe they'll turn that mall into a fema camp ....

  • Thanks, This is what the U.S, government and thier spin doctor mainstream press calls " slow growth ". Slow growth is when half the people in the nation are unemployed.

  • Malls are part of the past they should be retrofitted and converted into something more productive and useful for the community they are in

  • Eerily Reminds of that George Romero film "Dawn of the Dead." But the only thing we see in this clip are the living and not the dead. Makes me wonder how Life sometimes imitates Art.

  • @jewlo I know exactly what you meant.....it's weird as you get older things that you saw once in a movie are actually real...it's like when I used to watch tom and jerry and when you see tom get his knocked silly and seeing stars....I thought it was just in cartoons..but I can tell you from personal experience..it ain't just in cartoons LOL!

  • @jewlo WOW i wounder where this mall is at

  • Everything is done online now. That's why alot of malls are closing.

That's the way it is right now.

  • Is that an average sized mall or a small Mall? Maybe the really big Malls are still doing ok.

  • @Puzzoozoo actually this is a decent size mall, the area that I video taped was just in one of the wings.....I couldn't find the food court part that I recorded..if I can find it I will upload.

  • @creditliberation Its worse then, then it looks. Over here in the UK we have had a few shops close in my home towns equivelent of an American Mall, but nothing on the videos scale. :-\

  • I have a shopping centre near me that is heading this way and there is an eerie feeling to it, I totally agree. When the next wave hits, what are we going to do with all this? Bulldozer it down seems the only logical option.

  • @feverpitch82 you have to wonder what will become of this country if things keeps going the way it has been....

  • I live in Denver too and spent my teen years shopping in this mall and have watched the steady decline. Only some 7 or 8 years ago Westminster mall was booming center for commerce with 8 or 9 busy department stores, a crowded bustling food court and rows of healthy mini mall shops. Walking down these deserted hallways is like wondering through a graveyard of the recently interred.

  • Wow, kinda creepy. Its amazing that none if this makes it into the international news. Down here in Oz, our media has completely whitwashed the severity of the global economic crisis, its working as we continue to break housing price and household debt records everyday. Got talking to a local bank manager here at a bar on the weekend, I mentioned that over 30 million Americans are on foodstamps and he laughed at me. To be honest I was tempted to crack his head open, for a split second anyway ;-)

  • oh americas going down for sure it will be a sad day to be us

  • The same going on here in Tucson, and in Chicago I have friends who say it's gotten even worse this past year.

I'm just tired of waiting for whatever it is that's coming... they're just toying with us like cats playing with food. I'm sick of it all, I'm not motivated to go look for a job or do well in school anymore. I haven't even paid back my student loans from my last school.

    Let's burn this motha down!!

  • @jat4209 I understand what you mean and I believe they are cleaning house. I think there's a lot going on behind the scene that we don't know.

  • the hole point of a depression is so the weak dye and the strong get better but the government stopped that and gave the weak even more money so it will hurt everything when this all falls apart

  • in that mall area everything has died but jcpenny, olive garden, and that steak house right by the olive garden i used to eat at the trail dust right by this mall here is it by no doubt very sad but right down the street almost everything has died and is now vacant

  • but alot of things are dying cause in times like these most people cant go out and buy a 70 dollar shirt so the busnisses are dying and its a domino affect. thats why u see restraunts talking about better quality for your buck and u see entertainment boom cause people are trying to take there minds of the shit in this country

  • wow this guy deleted my comments cause this mall has been dying for 7 years its cause they built biger one i belive still there is going to be a depression forsure but this guy is lying to prove a piont i know its bad out there he could have drivin up and down 88th and wads its very sad there

  • They should make it housing for the homeless

  • you are exactly right! I think most people are in denial..they believe that US is too big to fail...like I always tell my friends...the bigger you are the harder you fall.

  • Excellent video, although scary !! I hope you are ready for what is coming next.. Best of luck to you and your loved ones.

  • @xBabyDragonx thank you....I am trying to prepare for what's happening and for the worst that is coming. I hope you are doing the same.....

  • @xBabyDragonx being at that mall made us felt like we were in a horror movie to be quit honest..

  • @skyding8962: Things are not as rosy as you make it sound. There are a lot of ppl affected, despite what you think. There are malls being foreclosed on all over the place, and commercial real estate is going down the tubes fast. I travel enough to know this is not an isolated incident. Wake up and smell the sludge! This country is in SERIOUS trouble!

  • Watching this, I was thinking of how the mall looks right before christmas. How things have changed and still changing.

  • but buy all means it sucks cause now u have to drive way out there to go toa mall but i went to this mall as a kid

  • I understand what you mean.....it's a lot of memories for you but I guess things happen you have no choice but to accept.

  • i know that the economy is very bad and its not getting any better but this mall has been like this for over 7 years bud its going out cause theres better malls now

  • Great video!!!!! Keep us informed bc5620

  • google: Macy's closure bad news for Westminster Mall

they are redeveloping it completely. city picked up a majority of the tab. you betcha, they are rebuilding it because they've had trouble competing with the other shopping centers.

  • @judutchinski I have my doubts that they are going to redevelop anything there anytime soon though.....another thing I've noticed are housing developments abandoned completely before they were even finished..I may do a video on that as well.

  • @bc5620 '

According to that article the mall was half full in january 2009. So that means about 40% more of the businesses left since then. So its hard to say how much this renovation talks had to do with it.

  • Did I see a dead body in there? lol Kidding. Kinda.

  • @DEMCAD LOL

  • Wow! You WIN! That place looks like a graveyard.

  • Thanks for sharing.

  • Good video. Subscribed.

This is a small mall like demcads and crabbydogtrix and uspimpclub are all showing these malls with less than a hundred stores. They don't show the bigger malls where there is very few vacancies. A regular mall has about 200 or 300 stores.

  • @skyding8962 actually no...this is a decent size mall....definitely not small

  • All the stores closed up in only about a 2 years time? Is the mall going into foreclosure? I can't understand why all these businesses would disappear like that so quickly. They economy isn't that bad.

  • @skyding8962 economy is pretty bad...I know a lot of people laid off ..neighbors and etc...I even witness squatters in my neigborhood...they take over foreclosed homes...very much like what george4title reported on what's going on in cali..

  • Im in california. The economy isn't that bad in general to justify whats happening at this mall. Most people are doing just fine. Very few have been effected by the economy.

  • @skyding8962

The rent is so high in the mall and a 15% drop in sales puts them under.
