  • question still remains, can I set multiple extenders for a rly big home?

  • nice, can I use multiple extenderes for a rly big house? maybe only using as a bridge for nice speed internet connection right?

  • @MrDreadlokz sry, I understood it wrong, just ignore last msg ;p

  • Who the hell is Slick?

  • I wonder why linus uses those "shoes"or sandals or whatever those are. They look like the ones my grandpa would use :)

  • Using a Wifi analyzer app would make it easier, then you can see the range in numbers, like dB, signal strength, etc. just my .03 cents

  • question ! does Linksys wireless N range extender work with a different brand router (accessing point ) ?

  • This will solve my Range problems :D

  • i have the e4200 indeed is freakin fast

  • Thumb Up ! for 05:15 :)

  • I have the Cisco E3200, I love it, I get a 21ms ping over wireless and 27/2 over wireless N, I love it, I get 21ms ping over wired too, I also get 27/2 over wired too, and I'm paying for 20/2. =D

  • u forget ping increase.

  • @3:29 is it that u say when having sex ?

  • LinusSnowTips

  • On that particular pc (LINUS-PC) you have my same old fashioned cpu!! A core 2 duo e8400!! Great! xD

  • Maybe better use ping to test connection?

  • what tablet are you using?

  • @siwini ipad 2

  • That far but how many feet?

  • dont u care about the rain going on the tablet and range extender, CUZ I WILL!!!

  • @MANG0MAN1214 The tablet will be fine, i just highly doubt the extender will be.

  • thats a pretty good wireless extension doing the fact that is snowing. You just picked the wrong day\night to do this test.

  • I am impressed with the performance of the extender

  • I like how the extender can be used as a bridge via hooking up a ethernet cable

  • good to know to not set extender at outer edge of range of signal of router

  • 3:20 *dramatic pause* ffffFFFFACCCINATING

  • Nope it's a Xoom tablet duh

  • 0:26 can you teach me how to use powerline for my tablet? :3

  • @potheadpenguin I think using Windows Vista on the 17th of December is worse lol

  • lol best review show ever

  • he is suprised because of snow in canada, in middle of december :P?

  • that router is really impressive. linus was expecting to lose signal by that range but they are still getting solid signals! ima get one of those routers lol

  • Comment removed

  • @00:18 - 00:26

    have to use powerline?

  • allways great reviews mate

  • :( I almost wish I didn't live in southern Arizona. We could really use some good snow down here.

  • Really love for the job, him and the cameramen .). The only "dudes" at the companie at night :) And Linus wearing a t shirt when it just snowed outside ,lol

  • What kind of tablet was that?

  • @lilginz13 I do believe it is Linus iPad 2 if I´m not mistaken.

  • @lilginz13 Sorry it is not the iPad, as you must have noticed, it has the GUI of Android, so, it really beats me what tablet it is. Tried to help anyway :)

  • I have a repeater setup, using a old router of mine (This is setting up one main router and then the other one picking up the signal and bouncing it off again creating a higher range). The problem they were having was due to the device not giving up the first connection to the new connection. Most devices will stay connected to the original connection as long as it is still visible even if the speed is diminishing. But extenders/repeaters do work. Make a video for repeater setup too.

  • It's funny how even a wireless range extender has more venting holes than a Mac.

  • no power on lan?

  • best episode so far

  • i've had issues getting any extender to work with my shaw modem router combo unit... any thoughts on how well this would do? or would a d'link amplifi signal booster/whole home router be a better option to try adding onto my network.

I've resorted to a powerline solution but my tablet/phone could use better signal and that doesn't fix that. Plus the powerline isn't a great solution at times with my two comps though not sure if that could be solved with a 500mbps one - i thinkit's the house wires

  • @kaelendra Although i'm not saying dlink is bad, i've used three different dlink routers. All of them were horrible. It was sooooo easy for 'break' them from normal use. (ie: in the settings, i'd do something such as turning off the router's ability 2 broadcast the SSID, and then i wouldn't be able change ANY of the router's settings. oh, and this was using a wireD connection.) the only way for me to fix it was to reset the router, thereby making me lose any changes i made.

  • @agalerex btw, i intentionally said WIRED connection, NOT wireLESS connection.

  • why turn on the night vision mode? @@

  • @KSKSKS03 cause it was dark ?

  • @TheJaRi92 its not that dark..

  • windows vista???

  • Very cool!

  • So is powerline still better than wireless in terms of speed?

My house is quite old so I'm just wondering if the age of the power wires makes a difference

  • huh...fascinating. lol

  • EWWWW VISTA!!!!

  • @NCIXcom What widget do u used to open the browser???

  • NCIX use IE?!

    -10 points!

  • @potheadpenguin google chrome fanboy

  • @FaggonDraggon *mozilla fanboy

  • @potheadpenguin ah well i was jk anyway, i just hate how all of my friends brag about how awesome google chrome is, it gets real annoying.

  • @potheadpenguin IE9 is as good as chrome and firefox, the previous ones admittidly sucked though

  • @TheCoconutCookie First, that's not IE9. Second, IE9 is only passable at best.

  • @potheadpenguin IE is one of the best browsers out there. It used to be junk, or crap, but now it's INCREDIBLY high quality and not "crap" in the least! Not crap and faster, as safe, and better GPU support than any other browser out there.

    Google the tests. It shows.

  • @potheadpenguin either its new equipment so its default IE, or its for demonstration purposes

  • Will this extender work with an airport extreme base station? By the way, your reviews have helped me so much and I want to thank you for your dedication and copious amount of legitimate information.

  • You are very lucky in Canada to have snow. In Austria (were noctua is from and besides Germany, they always make good stuff) it's not even reaching 0°C :(

  • Facinating!!!

  • man u review is great

  • Maybe the rain and snow is affecting your results.

  • Did i see WaterCooling part 2?? 06:44

  • intel core2duo lol at 5:27 u need to upgrade to 2nd gen sandy bridge cpus -_-

  • You should do a quick review of TP-Link wireless devices.

The TP-Link TL-WR941ND is a very good one to review.

Also if you can test tp-link wireless adapters like the TP-Link TL-WN722NC will be great.

  • will this be compatible to my telus wirless router?

  • Powerline networking is crap! Maybe I just have some faulty devices, but they just stop working sometimes.. I really don't get it.

  • is the civic yours?

  • @huymitsumi yep, that civic is his

  • Ummm.... Water Cooling Guide?

  • why Vista, Oh Why ?! :)

  • @Firehawk2047

With the latest updates its quite w7-like, so dont get too excited. ;)

  • @dklito I was not aware of that. However at the beginning, when I switched from Xp to Vista I had to switch back to Xp due to the problems of that os. :)

  • i wish there was a ncix store in the UK

  • @NCIXcom it's raining in Indonesia. You know, that country which offers that 3d vision software :)

  • Linus would be a good friend in real life, his video's make me happy haha

  • Atleast you have snow-.-

    From Estonia!

  • +1 for weather conditions

  • Interesting update (thanks)

  • Linus Snow Tips

  • u suck

  • Another good one Linus

  • when u said color me impressed, you should've turned off night vision for a second

  • Ahah, the face at 5:20

  • Linus! your voice is so soothing!

  • Just Love Linus!

Great to see Linus outside of the Office in the freezing weather!!

  • 3:22 xd

  • why dont use the wifi range app, instead of testing every 5meters??

    Its for sure more accurate.

  • You guys are hard working people. NCIX is very lucky to have such motivated employees

  • linux @ 5c ouside with a t shirt

  • LINUS. YUNOCAT6e? LINUS YUNOWATERCOOL2?

  • Now that's what I call commitment. Filming in the cold while its raining and snowing.. Great Work Linus, as always~ ^_^

  • Vista? sure

  • @10:23 The extender fails

  • @00:23 "Sometimes in life we are forced to use powerline"

    Major mistake Mr Linus

  • Lol i dont think anyone got the "Hypothetical" joke

  • 3:22

    AHAHAHAHA

  • My D-link DIR-615 works 40 meters , from my house to my cottage across the street is about 40 meters, my laptop runs fast and so does my WII for watching netflix. Without a extender

  • watercool part 2??

  • Sir could this extender work with a NETGEAR wireless router? Thanks

  • @elbayames41 Yes it could :)

  • @elbayames41 Definitely, NETGEAR make there own extenders too, but generally extenders can work for any wireless router.

  • lol, first world problems xD

  • watercool? part 2?

  • I got a bad signal in to my room. May I use a signal extender on my side of the house. And my father would be able to connect via the router close to him? Or will ALL signals go through the extender? My senses tell me that it is not true. But I am not sure.

    Thanks for answers!

  • @Olaipai it just boosts signal it doesn't move it so yes you could do that

  • @Olaipai The extender will just show up as another option in your available connections. So yes, you will be able to connect to the extender and your father can connect to the router.

  • @Nebster173 Thank you!

  • @Olaipai Glad to help. :)

  • @Olaipai Extenders pick up signals from the already setup network and bounce it to extend it so, devices choose the closest/better connection. Most of the time, they do not let go of the first connection when you move from one location to another, but later does as soon as it notice the better connection.

  • extender giving you like 10 meters more range :) use the money on stronger and better router. Im so not impressed

  • @effestars he said that you should never put the extender on the edge of your wireless network.

i think the opposite, a range extender should be placed on the farthest point from the router that still has a good connection (2/5 bars), then from there using the extender for another 40-60meters away from the router's 80meters.

  • @effestars extenders are way cheaper than a router, but if you do buy a better router, you can use your old one as a repeater. That's what I did.

  • nice!!!!!!

  • This deserves a like and favourite for talking about badminton =) I LOVE BADMINTON

  • How does your spouse feel about you working so late?

  • The timing of this video couldn't have been better. My family and I are upgrading to smart phones and tablets and we need the extended WiFi range in our home to reach all the bedrooms that border the house on both floors. Thanks so much for this demonstration, Linus!

  • What Android Tablet is that you'll using ?

  • CAN I USE MY 650 XMIGATECH PUS MODUALR PSU CORDS WITH MY COOLERMASTER PSU ARE MODULAR MULITFIT OR NOT ??

  • @THEDANEO86 IDK MAYBE

  • Purely Hypothetical ;) sure whatever we believe you linus

  • wut tablet is tht?

  • Linus was gonna make the water cooling part 2 video but..... you know the rest. >------->

  • Actually human bodies affect wireless networks also the snow and rain affect them as well.

  • not a big benefit from that extender...

  • Extreme Buyer's Guide Part 2 !!!! Tee Hee!

  • Just wanted to say thanks Linus, it makes my day when i can just sit back and relax and listen to an up to date Tech video from Linus:) (London, United Kindom)

  • water coolin part 2 at 6:44 :O

  • you kept it outside in the rain. no wonder it wasnt working at first.

  • pretty cold pretty cold!

  • good thing i dont live in a mansion

  • You guys should do a techtip on DDWRT and tomato

  • i think the first distance test proved this extender is pointless...

  • The demo would have way more impressive if you placed the extender 40 meters away from the router, but it would have been hard to run a power cord to it since it would be outside.

    Linus drives a Civic?

  • Linus, YOU ROCK!!!!

  • dude WTF vista like REALLY?!

  • Only need this if my house is as big as Linus house

  • why not use wifi analyzer instead of just browsing the web?

  • @daniyalrox73 lol idd

  • linusbadmintontips?

  • i want linus vlogs thumbs so he can see

  • linus plays badminton? classy mofo

  • is that VISTA ?!?!

  • Water cooling guide part 2?

  • nice core 2 duo you hav there...

  • water cooling part 2 ??????????

  • Funny because you have a stringing machine, shame i thought u played tennis but u play badmitton

  • i saw the water cooling pc =D

  • yep, just checked on the map, my mate's home is around 150m away and i sit on my own network when I'm at his place with no prob

  • @MrSoskok 150m sounds alot better than 200m. most soho "n" routers out now have a range of around 400 feet line of sight. so if you have walls in between the extender and router and then even maybe you and the extender than 150m is prolly really close to the limit of it. weather plays a role, but its mostly the moisture content in the air/materials that interrupts the signal and has the biggest impact. i get a better signal through thick concrete blocks than a thin piece of wood on rainy days
