This is not a Kora, it's a makele ngoni. Salif Keita plays neither.

It sounds like the player is syncopating with the drum rhythms, this is very traditional stuff.

Actually, it is a goni, a kamelin goni (as opposed to the dozon goni mentioned above - they are very similar).
