  • What kind of a case does this come in? Is it a standard jewel case or is there a case and box also?

  • @nicklapman Yeah, it's a standard DVD case. I think it's clear...

  • @nicklapman Oh, but there's also the cartridge version, which does come in a box.

  • Good to see Atari putting that "64-bit" power to good use. Who needs fully rendered 3D when you can have 2D frogs hopping?

  • @SyBabyProductions uhhhh, Atari had nothing to do with this game.

  • @viMasterJag I was being sarcastic.

  • @SyBabyProductions Well, I sensed the sarcasm about the 64-bit power being put to good use. I didn't realize it was being applied to Atari being responsible for the game.

    Ok, gotcha.

  • I would imagine it is much cheaper to burn a CD than create a cartridge.

  • This is easily one of the most boring games I've ever seen

  • Atari Jaguar CD - It's 64 bit and this game sure shows it.

  • WHAT CAN I SAY???

The triple 'frog fly' combo at 1:22 was EPIC ^_^

    What's the MAX possible combo?

  • Why the hell this need to be on a CD anyway?

  • @murderousbastard83 Because people asked for it to be released on CD as well as cart formats. Simple as that.

  • @murderousbastard83 Because it's homebrew, and it's much easier to just give everyone a .ISO to download and burn, than to make and distribute carts.

  • If this is jaguar it is missing 60 bits of processesing power.

  • @bisexualbuffthug Yeah, cause a homebrew effort frequently successfully exploits a console's hardware to the point of commercial games... er...

  • 64 bits! Do the Math bitches!

  • Where can you get this Homebrew and how much is it?

  • @Truthfulpietro Songbird Productions is the official distributor of Frog Feast CD :-)

Google them, they should have them in stock.

  • @Truthfulpietro Songbird is currently selling it at $34.95

    STAY AWESOME! :)

  • @Truthfulpietro free demos for emulators

    rastersoft.n-e-t/frogfeast

  • i liked the atari 2600 version

  • wasn't this called Frog Bog on intellivision?

  • I loved this game back in the day. The original game is called "Frogs and Flies". Interesting Hollywood trivia in regards to "Frogs and Flies" is in the movie "Grandma's Boy", when they get together for their "deathmatch" game, they are laying that very game!

  • did you actually make this game?

  • No no, I didn't personally make it.

I do know the person who did, though.

  • FROGS ARE JOKES

  • I'm glad new Jag titles are still slowly coming out. That said, I wish someone would create a nice 2D shooter for the Jag.

The Neo-Geo and Dreamcast got Last Hope, which was a game of full release quality, although I thought it was another dime a dozen R-Type clone.

I'd even be willing to volunteer help in the development. Drawing sprites and music.

  • Wow! You can work well MS Paint! (Yeah, I'm sarcastic, and that's mean I prefer playing the original games with the retro, pixel graphics)

  • What does high score mean? New high score, is that bad? What does that mean? Did I break it?

  • what a boaring game

  • If you've personally coded a game that is better, show me.

This was a homebrew project -- not a retail release.

  • SHIT'S WEAK! SHIT'S WEAK!

  • Same reply as above... this is a homebrew game.

Just because it doesn't conform to your A.D.D. gaming lifestyle doesn't mean it sucks.

Someone worked hard on it and I, for one, and grateful someone can actually walk the coding walk instead of just talking the talk as some do ;-)

  • Uhh, I wasn't bagging on this game. I was saying a line from the movie Grandma's Boy where they were playing Frog Bog which is a similar game. Look it up, funny movie. Also, I have appreciation for this game as I do too, make games.

  • D'oh! I forgot about that line.

    Such a funny movie!

  • I don`t get it. Of course this game is a classic but you can easily make a collection of Atari Games on one cd/DVD and bring them out on any console. Jaguar+CD were really a bad idea. You can compare it with 32x thou atleast Mega drive was a great console. Many People bash Sega CD and i understand that but atleast the so called FMV Games were something new [and really awful] where jaguar brought nothing new even the other official games were like that. Still thx for the vid.

  • How do you define "easily make a collection of Atari games on one cd/dvd?"

If you mean, build the games from the ground up, then you're sorely mistaken.

The Jaguar helped bring polygons into the mainstream. Sure, there was star fox (yawn) before, but there really was not much else out there. Even though some of the Jag's games were 2-dimensional, most of the 3-dimensional ones were still really good and were made of polygons.

Frog Feast is a homemade game -- hobbiest attempt.

  • What i meant was making a collection of old Atari games into one cd instead of only frog feast. There are collections for the newer systems as far as i know thou they are not homebrews but i guess homebrews exists aswell. And yeah Atari made a commercial about 64 MB playing and it looked like a 16 bit playing similiar to Sega cd hardware at the end. It came out around the same time as Sega CD & 3DO and it was quiet obvious that atari would have a hard time.

  • Yet i agree the console had some good games but still a console not even having atleast 100-200 games bringing a cd add on? Man and here alot of people bashing sega for beeing stupid and sega was pretty stupid bringing sega cd and then the 32x [and 32x almost at the same time as saturn if i remember it rightly]. Sometimes i ask myself who are leading the companies it almost looks like they wanted to make this false decisions. My first console was an old atari and it is sad what happened to it.

  • Looks like the game from Grandma's boy

  • This game looks like a clone of a very old Intellivsion game called "Frog Bog". Amazing to think that a "64Bit" gaming console would steal an idea from an 8Bit console 10 years its senior and make it more boring and repetetive. Don't get me wrong; I had a Jaguar and had quite a lot of fun but come on, that looks about as exciting as pong or maybe ping pong. No offence intended.

  • Well, it isn't exactly supposed to show the 64-bit prowess of the Jaguar. It's a homemade game and let's be honest -- VERY few people will even bother to try making a game for the Jag and even fewer will make use of it's extremely complicated, yet powerful architecture.

So, it's good to keep in mind this isn't supposed to be a tech demo or a "this is what the jaguar can do!" game :-)

  • Had I read a bit further down I would have made that very same conclusion. Sorry to diss anyone having fun in his spare time. This is a much better job than I or many people could do. Keep up the good work.

  • It would be great to have more games that took advantage of the hardware, though :)

    Too few do :-/

  • I said, CAN YOU REMOVE THIS?

I also found out this is a direct port of the 16/32 bit versions.

    Please remove my comment.

    PLEASE REMOVE MY COMMENT!

  • Sorry bud, didn't mean to offend you. I just forget to check comments sometimes :)

  • Of course I wasn't offended. It just stupid that Youtube won't even let us remove our own comments.

And I found out after posting that ignorant comment that this is a port of a game from a 16-bit system.

  • Yeah, kinda dumb that we're not able to do that.

Again, I apologize for not responding quicker and removing them :)

I wasn't trying to make you look bad -- I just get busy and forget to log on.

  • I didn't even know this game existed. It's a clone of Frogs and Flies on the 2600 though, which I love. This doesn't have the same cool sound effects as the 2600 version though. I loved the "splash" when you fell in the water.

  • I never played the 2600 "Forg and Flies," but a nice splash certainly would have been a nice addition :D

  • i have this game on my intellivision

  • Also wanted to mention...

This is a game created by one guy in his spare time and the fact that anything is still being released for our 64-bit beast is astounding.

Thanks to Charles for the continued support of the Atari Jaguar :)

There must be something about the little black kitty if people are still passionate about it ;)

  • Not only that but you have to remember this game is a cross-platform game among many so it must stay technically low-grade.

I'm sure if a version of Frog Feast was made specially for the Jaguar, it could have amazing rendered backgrounds and some much nicer sounds/music, etc.

It's just a hobby project though from what I gather so...

  • so anyways why didn't anybody tell me.

  • Blah blah blah.

You go code a game for the Jaguar and you'll understand why there were so few releases and why there were so many 16-bit-looking games for it. Frog Feast is the very first Jaguar game from a new programmer, so there's nowhere to go but up at this point :D

  • The CD version was released either in August or September of 2007 -- I can't remember which.

Anyone can purchase from OlderGames or Songbird Productions.

As for fun... it's more fun with 2 players. This is the very first game from a brand new Jaguar developer, so future titles should raise the bar a bit more :)

  • Wow, I love my Atari Jaguar, but that looked pretty boring to me. Do you find it boring in actual play and when was this released?

  • good question. This was the 2nd time I played it, so I'm not sure.

  • Does day turn to night in this version? or no?

  • Yes, this version does change from day to night.
