This movie breaks my heart, these kids seem so nice. Three of my cousins were raised under VERY similar circumstances, they slept to the sound of biblical audiobooks every night. Warms my heart that, as young adults now, they've broken free from their religious shackles of ignorance. I respect people and their beliefs, but teaching children erroneous fallacy is too damn much.
This is Frightening. The level of propaganda, manipulation, blind faith/beliefs, and warped thoughts surrounding fundementalists is something not seen since the National Socialists movement in Germany in the 1930s and 40s. Fear based. Believe or spend ETERNITY burning in Hell!! Same as getting false confessions. "Hey you admit you committed the crime and ill let you spend life in jail, if you dont ill torture you, kill you and youll spend eternity in hell" Organized Religion's tool=FEAR

ha ha ha lol i love the christian show calling out evolution as a "belief" rather than fact yes christanity believes are some crazy shit lol, also evolution is not connected with atheism just like if you wanted you could argue that evolution is gods intelligent design, but i am sure that it is much easier to follow an outdated belief than think for yourself.
@Immortal4Aday Well-sir, I AM Christian and DO think for myself. I just believe in a different book than you do and that's just fine. I can comprehend some of what science has to say about evolution but I don't buy it all either. Doesn't mean I don't think for myself though. You are lumping all Christians in the same room, as it were, which makes your comment extremely narrow minded and uneducated. The bible is just as revelant today as the day it was canonized and/or written.
@Landotter1 maybe your right maybe i am generalising, but how can Christianity be a good thing, for once i will not rely on science in this argument, i will go on actions Christanity is responsible for the imprisonment of Galileo for saying the earth moves around the sun(which it does but at that time the church didn't know.), for the WBC the crusades, or more current atrocities the pedophile priests it employs how can it be a good thing how can these people be close to god.
@Immortal4Aday I won't even dare to try to cover up anything you complain about. Your last question sums it up. "How can these people be close to God?" Well-sir, according to the teachings of Christ, they AREN'T. The Catholic church has been corrupt for many centuries. This is no secret. If yolu truly study and understand the teachings of Christ, you will quickly summize that "Christianity" is NOT bad. It has been MAN'S implimentation of it that has been bad. Consider that please
@Landotter1 you say man's implementation when does that start an end, for instance the bible that is the purest form of man implementation of god but that is the same bible that all these hate groups and radicals quote, i have no problem in people believing in what the want, but religion is a belief thats all i don't want to see it acted out in laws and practises that are detrimental to humanities growth, just like you wouldn't want me talking about evolution in your church.
@Immortal4Aday Now, you are being petty. Think about it... Where in the bible did Christ tell Christians to kill their enemies (the crusades) Tell me... Where? Don't bother, you won't find it. Where does it say that it is ok for priests to molest young boys? Don't bother, it DOESN'T. Where did Christ teach the church elders to use religion as a means to control and manipulate the masses? Where? You don't find it, you say? Of course you won't. what do you mean, where does it begin?
@Immortal4Aday .... and where does it end? Surely you can't be serious... Radicals and hate groups..... If you knew anything about the true teachings of Christ, you wouldn't bother yourself with such stupid concearns and questions. You shall know them by their fruits. Now, do you think the hate groups and such are bearing good fruit? Of course not..... Christian? NO!!! Do the logic. Before you have such hatred for God or Christ, you should really study about them....
@Immortal4Aday ..otherwise you sound just as ignorant as these "groups" do. So many atheists ALWAYS criticize Christians for different things but turn right around and do the VERY same things that they are mad at Christians for, and one of them is hate. Atheists claim to be "thinkers" and whatnot but you are human and fall short in every aspect of humanism. Atheists and non religious people have done many terrible things. Stalin killed over 35 million of his own people. an atheist
@Immortal4Aday jingis Kahn, atilla the hun and many others, weren't religious folks but did untold atrocities..... Do any atheists remember these guys? well of course not. why? Because they can't pin the ugliness of mankind, on religion. You atheists need to remember that you are only human and even whilst "thinking" you will succomb to human shortcomings and fail just as you claim religion to fail. You are not as innocent as you bolster so get off the we are innocent nonsense...
@Immortal4Aday Humanity hasn't grown at all. We are still emotional basket-cases and still act as animals, especially during times of survival. We haven't "evolved" yet. This statement you make is nothing but party-line atheist agenda. I don't respect politics, my friend. Come to my church and talk about evolution all you want, I don't care. I just hope you don't mind being laughed at and called BLIND. If not, you are invited to come speak.
@Immortal4Aday Do you think that many Christians aren't humiliated by it? They are. You just don't hear about it. I cannot help what happened in history. I cannot fire these nasty priests. All I can try to do, which is what Christ told us to do, that is love our neighbors, pray for our enemies and tell the world that he loves them very much. If you try to take man's atrocities out of it and study what it is TRULY about, you will quickly realize that Christianity is not evil.
@Landotter1 but thats what i mean if the bible spring from the idea of mans implementation of gods will how can you trust it, where is the line? i mean how do you know god doesn't want priests to molest children, priests are after all the ones closest to god, i know i am being petty but thats the point Christianity is full of contradictions and hear say, how can you be a christian when the definition of that word changes every era, do you see what i mean.
@Immortal4Aday The bible hasn't changed so the word doesn't change. What kind of stupid question is this" How do I know that God doesn't want priests to molest children" I was really begining to think you were reasonable but this is off the Richter man. For real.... I'm NOT even going to get in to such idiocy with you... If you can't work that one out, you have clearly missed the plank man.... I'm not trying to be disrespectful but WOW, that's dumb.... What contridictions?
@Landotter1 "I will not pity, nor spare, nor have mercy, but destroy. Now go and smite Amalek, and utterly destroy all that they have, and spare them not, but slay both man and woman, infant and suckling."
"The Lord is very pitiful and of tender mercy."
"For his mercy endureth forever."
"The Lord is good to all, and his tender mercies are over all his works."
"God is love."
what is god a bloodthirsty warlord who demands children's blood or an all forgiving deity who shows mercy.
@Immortal4Aday Why would God say such a thing. Your lack of understanding is why you have such problems with what he says. The old testiment is pretty hard for anyone, especially not of the desert cultures, to undersatand, let alone ancient desert culture. If you do some study about that and try to put yorself in that time, you'd understand better. You may not agree, and I don't always, but you'd understand better. Anyone can pick things apart and find fault.......
@Immortal4Aday ..... I can find 1000X more fault with secularism than you can with the bible and religion. Like it or not, the bible calls mankind to a higher standard of living. Weather we do it, and do it right, or not, is another story. Another problem with not believing in a creator is you forget that God can do with his creation as he wants to.... ANYTHING.... This is what you rebel against but it is a fruitless rebellion bro. It won't change anything. Never has.
Working hard to spread ignorance and intolerance one child at a time. This is why the rest of the world thinks americans are stupid. These type of people are the only people that get on tv.
I know Christianity is a system set up to provide "social control" and to maximize power and profit, but we shouldn't criticize these people, seriously. They are products of their environment and they don't know any better. If these same people had been born in Iraq they might have been muslim, if they had been born in Israel they might have believed in Judaism. Simply put, these people are products of their environments and they would have believed anything else in the same manner.
I was born into a fundie christian family, and of course homeschooled. My "dream" was to become a missionary of some type, purely out of peer pressure and nothing more, but now I'm not a theist and i've gotten exponentially smarter, and now I have a dream to become an astroparticle physicist. The fact that I'm not rich, have no scholarships thanks to homeschooling, and my medical issues, make this despressingly unlikely. Maybe I can study into my 40's like my Uncle did, who just now graduated.
Religions are all about the indoctrination of children. That's why most American kids are Christians, most Saudi Arabian children are Muslims and most Indian kids are Buddhists or Hindus.
Get them young, fill them full of your bullshit and make sure they don't think for themselves. Worked for Hitler and the Pope and it can work for you too.
@Landotter1 Yes it could. However, I let my children research about the different religions in the world. And I took them to different churches so they could see for themselves.
Did I do wrong in letting my children think for themselves?
@ghostframer Absolutely not! However, what you say about it afterward may be a problem. If you truly let them think for themselves, your input on such would be indoctrination. I feel that if you take them to different churches and don't let them realize that people do believe in religion or God, as it were, and tell them that it is ok for them to believe in God. But if you are busy teaching them atheist doctrines and bashing religion, you are doing them a disservice.
@Landotter1 Of course I explain that people believe in god and religion. That's called showing your children ALL of the facts. Then we discuss the different religions. I explain to them what I feel is good and bad about the different beliefs. Then I encourage them to read and listen to both sides and make up their own mind. That's as far from religious indoctrination as you can get. I dare you and all other believers to do that for your children.
@ghostframer I feel that they need to know that it is ok for them to have a spiritual life, you know, the thing you don't believe in, and truly let them "think for themselves" or it is just atheist indoctrination, or as in the video, Christian indoctrination. If you truly want them to "think for themselves" You have to be completely ok with them having a spiritual life if they so choose and not leading them away from it. Just my opinions. hope all is well and best wishes!
@Landotter1 Your definition of a spiritual life is my definition of being one with the world, its beauties and its ugliness. My children are free to believe what they want, unless it physically harms others. Violence is wrong. Violence in the name of religion is wrong.
My wife and I have 5 children. Two are atheists, two believe in spirituality and one believes in a god. I love all of them.
"that's the only possible answer to all the questions" yes, if you're a complete fucking idiot for whom it should be illegal to teach your child instead of sending him to a proper school.
home-schooling is bad because it is part of life to learn to get along in a big crowd of people, and deal with bullies. At home you are wrapped in cotton wool.
homeschooling is not bad or good it’s just different and if you weren’t home schooled then you don’t understand and should not be making assumptions… about what it’s like… or about the people who do it... :)
And this video was cut and shopped to make it look bad… home schooling is amazing because it tailors education to a child’s learning style… instead of tailoring a child to an education… I was homeschooled for 12 years and my parents never shoved creationism down my throat… I was taught both evolution and creationism… and all in all it was a very small part of my homeschooling experience…
god I hate republicans! they program simple people for war, for votes, just the whorse kinda criminal you can find. and then these idiots start wars and we smarth people have to join.
@DerektheDuctTape That's a terrible analogy. How can evidence draw two different conclusions? The evidence only points in one direction. It's up to the interpreter to discern what that conclusion is through reasoning and logic. Science is the only unbiased way of determining that conclusion. You can't just point to the one you think is right based on a religious belief.
What a bitch. Forcing that shit on her kid... and they aren't getting a second source, either, of course that family has made sure of that by homeschooling... thank god there aren't many of these people
@Sosialaidd there's no bolts and lots of nuts in your comment, I just wonder, what do you believe in? with "thank god" clearly points you to be a "theist".
I do not agree with homeschooling regarding the quality of education in homeschooling but the video clearly address the mother is sort of clever teacher.
In religious comparison, much much better than any madrassah that I ever know of.
Like this, if two people say they saw a car, one said the car was blue, and other said it was red. How can they both be right. Ok, there are three possibilities. A) One or both are lying B) There were two cars One Red and One Blue C) There was one car, one side was blue other side was Red. This really no different than picking creation of evolution. You are looking at same evidence, but drawing different conclusions.
This is no joke! The flying spaghetti monster is real and if you dont accept him as you lord and savior then you will burn in pasta hell forever. This in no joke! Repent! i dont need facts to prove my claim, because u have to believe in him so he can show u the light! Pastafarianism is the right religion,..who needs stupid things like facts and evidence when there is faith. In the name of our almighty pasta lord, rAMEN.
wow science doesn't prove anything? Unfortunately medical science has kept this woman alive at the expense of her children. Those kids could have had a real interest in science if it wasn't for their delusional mother.
I dont think real teachers say a theory or philosophy "is stupid" maybe home school teachers can say things like that but regular regulated real teachers are not likely to be so black & white. She would fear sending her kids to a public school where there is more opportunity for a range of ideas because her indoctrination education wouldnt work so purely & unchallenged. If she is secure in her beliefs she would be secure enough to allow her kids to develop their own mind in their own time.
I'm being home school by a fucking video program a bunch of stuck up assholes telling you if you have fun you burn. Fucking stupid christians can suck my cock.
I fucking hate christians. I was raised by lunatic creationist parents, had original sin shoved down my throat, and was locked up by a repressive delusional mother. Then the real fun started with the nerd-dork-weirdo stigmas when I got out in the real world. Homeschooled X-STAINS are GUILTY of child abuse.
These people are beyond salvation.
Only slipping them LSD or killing them fixes the problem.
At 2:20, you can see the Lord of the Rings on the table. Sorcery, anyone? And at 2:25, she asks him if he got to the part where it says, "Science doesn't really prove anything?" Really, Christians?
A scientific theory comprises a collection of concepts, including abstractions of observable phenomena expressed as quantifiable properties, together with rules (called scientific laws) that express relationships between observations of such concepts. A scientific theory is constructed to conform to available empirical data about such observations, and is put forth as a principle or body of principles for explaining a class of phenomena! SCIENTIFIC THEORY IS DIFFERENT U DUMB CUNTS!
@bellaluna423 On evolution...when you grow up, you don't see any changes from a day to another... But if you look back from (let's say) 10 years, you can now see the changes that happened between 10 years ago and now. Evolution goes the same way. We can only see the distincts differences between the fossiles, when they are different many thousands of years appart, than if they were a generation apart.
@Poodleinacan The fossil record does nothing to prove evolution. There are countless examples of fossils found in contradicting order to evolutionary predictions. They are found in the wrong rock layers, indicating the layers were formed quickly. There are NO fossils found in the rock strata that are watertight examples of transitional species, even though if evolution were true they should be all over the place. The theory has many holes, and the fossil record does nothing but discredit it.
Wtf is up with the white trash hairstyles?, thats ultimate abuse... Maybe home is better than a public school where they'd be in special ed and teased....
I have an excellent idea - get these fundamentalist Christians to fight the fundamentalist Muslims, let them kill eachother and the world will be a better place. See evolution is wonderful!
"Creationism is the only possible answer" - Wow. Just wow. First off, calling Evolution a theory, and believing in Creationism is entirely hypocritical. Christianity is a theory, because there is no physical proof of a "God" or "Messiah", yet we have physical proof of the Big Bang, and of Evolution. While Creationism has no scientific evidence, because Christianity rejects science as a fear of being told that they are wrong.
@xDEADLYGAMING I mean no offence, but I am home-schooled, and this is a gross misconception. I believe in Creationism, and I am a Christian, but I do not claim to have scientific "proof" of God nor do most of my peers. All I know is what He has done for me personally.
I am well read and well informed, beyond what my parents have taught me, and in my work I seem to have have missed this physical proof of Evolution, and ask that you please inform me.
To the people who keep saying evolution is just a theory:
Darwin's theory of evolution via natural selection is a theory.
The principle of the matter, that living beings evolve, IS A FACT!
We just aren't sure about WHY beings evolve but it has been proven that they DO EVOLVE!
It's EXACTLY the same case with gravity. No one questions whether gravity is real because it's much more easily observable, but their are different theories of WHY gravity exists.
@anthemofadam When was it proven that things evolve?Evolution cannot be observed, and therefore it can not be proven. When I drop a book,it falls to the ground. I observe Gravity and believe in it.Evolution is hardly a "priniciple of matter" It cannot be observed, therefore it cannot be proven, therefore it remains a theory. As soon as someone comes to me with concrete evidence of Evolution, I will believe it.I have yet to see any, and will continue to regard evolution only as a viable theory.
@bellaluna423 Gravity IS considered a theory. Even though it's observable by anyone, it's still considered a theory by scientists and its got way more holes in it than the theory of evolution. Scientists have observed evolution through the fossil record and putting some things together in nature like a species of bird evolving a longer beek on certain islands because of the food available there vs that same species not having that feature in other parts of the world. There are so many examples.
@anthemofadam I never said it wasn't a theory;I said its effects are clearly observable and therefore indisputable. As for the birds, if you are referring to the Galapagos finches, it was simply natural selection that caused the birds with less suitable beaks to die out.Because the birds with short beaks couldn't obtain food as well, they died out,and the other, larger beaked birds reproduced. The finches made no transition to a different species. They adapted, they didn't evolve into anything new.
Another scary thing about homeschooling: those kids score higher on tests, spelling bees, and learning. They're very educated and aware of the world around them.
@missgwendolyn90 ignorance and performance have nothing to do with eachother.
Where are the scientific tests? you've named spelling, and "learning" how ever vague you want to make that. Where are the skills and understanding of physics? is physics a skill you'd like to include?
I think you're also forgetting about comparison size, you've got one kid with one teacher, thats as efficient as any learning out there. My classes are 60 kids at a time, how hard is it for me? very.
@Myzaru Mounds of evidence? I would believe in Evolution with one shred of concrete evidence. I have found none in my study (and believe me, I have studied) Until I come across scientific evidence of evolution, i will continue to consider it only a viable theory.
Very odd. The guy in the video at the start of the clip laughed at the idea of us "coming from a glob of goo" yet rallies behind the idea we came from a handful of dirt and a spare rib.
The "logical breakdown" about the "reasoning" for global warming as presented is that the premise, as stated, is a complete lie. Global warming isn't about, "Gee, it's pretty hot this summer." Such contempt for Commandment 9 by modern Christians.
@evilyakko you said that "evolution was the foundation of medical breakthroughs". I made the point that two influential medical scientists alive DURING Darwin's time believed in Creation. Of course, even today there are many doctors and scientists who are Creationists. :)
It frightens me that a clearly delusional, most likely severely mentally ill woman like this can be in charge of educating kids or even be a parent.
Evolution isn't" just a theory", its a scientific fact. Creationism is bollocks, made up by Christians to try and reconcile their mental MENTAL views on how the universe came into being. This woman knows as much about science as she does about exercise by the looks of things.
Howcome Christians are discriminated against all the time, but homosexuals, atheists, and humanists get to force their opinions on our children?? makes no sense if you ask me. Our schools are NOT neutral, they are pagan.
The earth is only 6000 years old, wow, I guess the millions of year old fossil record and tens of thousands of year old recorded history was put here by the Devil to trick us to think that Christianity is a lie. Yes that must be it the devil.
@RedTailedTuna Tell me then, how on earth can blood cells and flesh be found in "million year old" dino bones? It's impossible for blood to have been preserved over "millions". Evolution is an unproven theory. Just because it's popular doesn't mean it's true.
@evilyakko you said that "evolution was the foundation of medical breakthroughs". I was just trying to make the point that those two men (father of vaccines/pasteurization and modern surgery) were Creationists. You cannot say that only evolutionists improved the quality of healthcare. Even today, there are many scientists and doctors who believe in Creation. Evolution is a theory, get with it!
Answers In Genesis is a notorious creationist propaganda website, one of only two large, well funded ones (the other being Discovery Institute). They maintain a list of scientists who doubt darwinism, but many of those scientists were added to the list without their knowledge, and those who are legitimately on there typically have no expertise in biology, so their opinions on evolution are those of laymen.
It's funny how is video like this can trigger the question " can I believe in what I cant see!" Which what it comes down to that's what's at stake when science and faith are in the ring together. As a christian myself I don't believe in shoving jesus down anybody's throat. especially my kids. I show them god's love through my actions. science to me is a painting illustrated with many possibilities. but were there is a painting we must remember there is always an artist!
Fundamentalists these days. They're all "AMERICA F**K YEAH!" and doesn't even know anything about the Constitution. In fact, I see that trend with a lot of these "redneck" type fundamentalists.
She's right; science doesn't prove anything. The scientific method is based on one logical fallacy after another. Read Karl Popper. Read Bertrand Russell. Neither of those guys could be said to be friends of Christianity, yet they understood, to one extend or another, the limitations of science. There is no truth in science, nor is there any true knowledge. Sure, science "works." But just because something works, doesn't mean it is true.
@joelthomaspeterson Good luck navigating the world with an ignorant epistemology like that. It's no wonder you'd be forced to turn to mysticism. And no, the scientific method isn't riddled with logical fallacies. I'd like to see your evidence for that.
I'm not going to do your research for you. I gave you two names to read, go read them. Do a Google search for "Karl Popper the problem of induction." Google "bertrand russell science asserting the consequent" and read the top result by Gary Crampton. That should get you started. Then, if you're really brave, you could even see what John Robbins, Gordon H. Clark, and Vincent Cheung have to say on this subject.
Your epistemology is entirely irrational (illogical). Good luck with that.
@joelthomaspeterson Crampton's article is pathetic. It's unfortunate that people cling so strongly to their beliefs (which you admit can't be known to be true) that they'll go to any length to discredit even the systematic observation of the natural world. Why did your loving god give you senses purposely to deceive you? You should probably figure that out... or better yet, cut the sensory organs out of your body so you can receive true illumination.
I never said all beliefs can't be known to be true. I said the scientific method is an inadequate source of knowledge, given the irrational grounds upon which it stands.
@joelthomaspeterson If the senses aren't to be trusted, and the mind is capable of illogical reasoning and outright imaginings, what is your source of knowledge?
@joelthomaspeterson You seem to think that Science actually claims to reveal absolute truth, when it does no such thing. There can be no fallacy in the method as it's simply a set of guidelines for making the most of experimental inquiry. Fallacies only arise when humans incorrectly interpret the experiments.
It's pretty hypocritical to say my views are irrational when your standard for truth is reading a book and deciding that it's true (at least I assume, given your suggestion of Crampton).
@apollo33 The very premise of science is that it is willing to change and adapt with new discoveries. There are no "commandments" of science, there are no immutable rules which naturally become outdated. Have you heard of the scientific method. Google that. Science trys to explain things in the real world, things that can be observed, and it is willing to adapt itself with the introduction of new evidence. In my mind, "faith" is far more illogical than observation and experimentation.
@apollo33: "You seem to think that Science actually claims to reveal absolute truth, when it does no such thing."
Then why are so many people here so mortified by this woman's statement that science doesn't prove anything? Are you saying that Darwinian evolution is not true? Truth is, by definition, absolute. If something is true, it is always true and must always be true. There is no non-absolute truth. Yet many people today do believe that science reveals truth.
@joelthomaspeterson By absolute truth I mean the full nature of the universe. It's entirely possible that our universe exists in the imagination of a god who controls all cause and effect and supplies our sensory perceptions. It's also impossible to prove the non-existence of a god for this reason. But if we consider everything that's possible for us to know or observe as our system, then I believe that Science is the best method for discovering truths about that. So yes, evolution is true.
@joelthomaspeterson "What's your evidence for this? Has this been scientifically proven? Or do you simply take the reliability of science on faith?"
Either you're trolling or you're dumb. The evidence is in the predictive power and reliability. The reliability is why faith isn't needed. You can't scientifically prove that science proves things, that's called circular reasoning. I think we're done here.
@joelthomaspeterson People are "mortified" by her statement because she's taking a very complex philosophical concept and selectively (hypocritically) using it just to turn her children against science.
@joelthomaspeterson Answer my other post and it might give you some insight. You should also try considering how many thousands of times you use induction every day.
this just make my blood boil... that child is NEVER going to make it into college and its all her fault. Christian or not, ruining any chance of that child to be successful in any field except religious studies or social studies is just flat out wrong.
There is a reason why Judaism wants to snuff out/re-assimilate all of Christianity, it has become quite the joke. Judaism, I was shocked to find, readily accepts evolution and all of science...And not only that, but in the 1800s, a Rabbi calculated the earth to be billions of years old via the Kabbalah. Religion can still be interesting, in the right hands.
@PrisonKilljoy, Yes, I agree completely with what you said. That is one of the reasons why I want to homeschool my own kids in the future. And It's nice to know that there are parents out there that are not forcing their kids to have their opinions and beliefs instead of forming their own.
Hmmm.... what allowed that family to have a tv, a dishwasher, a radio etc? Science of course! Without science, they wouldn't be able to listen to fundamentalist Christian broadcasts... ironic much....
Even the dog knows it's bullshit.

This movie breaks my heart, these kids seem so nice. Three of my cousins were raised under VERY similar circumstances, they slept to the sound of biblical audiobooks every night. Warms my heart that, as young adults now, they've broken free from their religious shackles of ignorance. I respect people and their beliefs, but teaching children erroneous fallacy is too damn much.

ha ha ha lol i love the christian show calling out evolution as a "belief" rather than fact yes christanity believes are some crazy shit lol, also evolution is not connected with atheism just like if you wanted you could argue that evolution is gods intelligent design, but i am sure that it is much easier to follow an outdated belief than think for yourself.
Immortal4Aday 1 week ago
@Immortal4Aday Well-sir, I AM Christian and DO think for myself. I just believe in a different book than you do and that's just fine. I can comprehend some of what science has to say about evolution but I don't buy it all either. Doesn't mean I don't think for myself though. You are lumping all Christians in the same room, as it were, which makes your comment extremely narrow minded and uneducated. The bible is just as revelant today as the day it was canonized and/or written.
Landotter1 1 week ago
@Landotter1 maybe your right maybe i am generalising, but how can Christianity be a good thing, for once i will not rely on science in this argument, i will go on actions Christanity is responsible for the imprisonment of Galileo for saying the earth moves around the sun(which it does but at that time the church didn't know.), for the WBC the crusades, or more current atrocities the pedophile priests it employs how can it be a good thing how can these people be close to god.
Immortal4Aday 1 week ago
@Immortal4Aday I won't even dare to try to cover up anything you complain about. Your last question sums it up. "How can these people be close to God?" Well-sir, according to the teachings of Christ, they AREN'T. The Catholic church has been corrupt for many centuries. This is no secret. If yolu truly study and understand the teachings of Christ, you will quickly summize that "Christianity" is NOT bad. It has been MAN'S implimentation of it that has been bad. Consider that please
Landotter1 1 week ago
@Landotter1 you say man's implementation when does that start an end, for instance the bible that is the purest form of man implementation of god but that is the same bible that all these hate groups and radicals quote, i have no problem in people believing in what the want, but religion is a belief thats all i don't want to see it acted out in laws and practises that are detrimental to humanities growth, just like you wouldn't want me talking about evolution in your church.
Immortal4Aday 1 week ago
@Immortal4Aday Now, you are being petty. Think about it... Where in the bible did Christ tell Christians to kill their enemies (the crusades) Tell me... Where? Don't bother, you won't find it. Where does it say that it is ok for priests to molest young boys? Don't bother, it DOESN'T. Where did Christ teach the church elders to use religion as a means to control and manipulate the masses? Where? You don't find it, you say? Of course you won't. what do you mean, where does it begin?
Landotter1 1 week ago
@Immortal4Aday .... and where does it end? Surely you can't be serious... Radicals and hate groups..... If you knew anything about the true teachings of Christ, you wouldn't bother yourself with such stupid concearns and questions. You shall know them by their fruits. Now, do you think the hate groups and such are bearing good fruit? Of course not..... Christian? NO!!! Do the logic. Before you have such hatred for God or Christ, you should really study about them....
Landotter1 1 week ago
@Immortal4Aday ..otherwise you sound just as ignorant as these "groups" do. So many atheists ALWAYS criticize Christians for different things but turn right around and do the VERY same things that they are mad at Christians for, and one of them is hate. Atheists claim to be "thinkers" and whatnot but you are human and fall short in every aspect of humanism. Atheists and non religious people have done many terrible things. Stalin killed over 35 million of his own people. an atheist
Landotter1 1 week ago
@Immortal4Aday jingis Kahn, atilla the hun and many others, weren't religious folks but did untold atrocities..... Do any atheists remember these guys? well of course not. why? Because they can't pin the ugliness of mankind, on religion. You atheists need to remember that you are only human and even whilst "thinking" you will succomb to human shortcomings and fail just as you claim religion to fail. You are not as innocent as you bolster so get off the we are innocent nonsense...
Landotter1 1 week ago
@Immortal4Aday Humanity hasn't grown at all. We are still emotional basket-cases and still act as animals, especially during times of survival. We haven't "evolved" yet. This statement you make is nothing but party-line atheist agenda. I don't respect politics, my friend. Come to my church and talk about evolution all you want, I don't care. I just hope you don't mind being laughed at and called BLIND. If not, you are invited to come speak.
Landotter1 1 week ago
@Immortal4Aday Do you think that many Christians aren't humiliated by it? They are. You just don't hear about it. I cannot help what happened in history. I cannot fire these nasty priests. All I can try to do, which is what Christ told us to do, that is love our neighbors, pray for our enemies and tell the world that he loves them very much. If you try to take man's atrocities out of it and study what it is TRULY about, you will quickly realize that Christianity is not evil.
Landotter1 1 week ago
@Landotter1 but thats what i mean if the bible spring from the idea of mans implementation of gods will how can you trust it, where is the line? i mean how do you know god doesn't want priests to molest children, priests are after all the ones closest to god, i know i am being petty but thats the point Christianity is full of contradictions and hear say, how can you be a christian when the definition of that word changes every era, do you see what i mean.
Immortal4Aday 1 week ago
@Immortal4Aday The bible hasn't changed so the word doesn't change. What kind of stupid question is this" How do I know that God doesn't want priests to molest children" I was really begining to think you were reasonable but this is off the Richter man. For real.... I'm NOT even going to get in to such idiocy with you... If you can't work that one out, you have clearly missed the plank man.... I'm not trying to be disrespectful but WOW, that's dumb.... What contridictions?

Landotter1 6 days ago
@Immortal4Aday ..... I can find 1000X more fault with secularism than you can with the bible and religion. Like it or not, the bible calls mankind to a higher standard of living. Weather we do it, and do it right, or not, is another story. Another problem with not believing in a creator is you forget that God can do with his creation as he wants to.... ANYTHING.... This is what you rebel against but it is a fruitless rebellion bro. It won't change anything. Never has.

@Landotter1 Yes it could. However, I let my children research about the different religions in the world. And I took them to different churches so they could see for themselves.
Did I do wrong in letting my children think for themselves?
ghostframer 1 week ago
@ghostframer Absolutely not! However, what you say about it afterward may be a problem. If you truly let them think for themselves, your input on such would be indoctrination. I feel that if you take them to different churches and don't let them realize that people do believe in religion or God, as it were, and tell them that it is ok for them to believe in God. But if you are busy teaching them atheist doctrines and bashing religion, you are doing them a disservice.
Landotter1 1 week ago

SCIENTIFIC THEORY IS DIFFERENT U DUMB CUNTS!
smokeathon13 1 month ago
@bellaluna423 On evolution...when you grow up, you don't see any changes from a day to another... But if you look back from (let's say) 10 years, you can now see the changes that happened between 10 years ago and now. Evolution goes the same way. We can only see the distincts differences between the fossiles, when they are different many thousands of years appart, than if they were a generation apart.
Poodleinacan 1 month ago
@Poodleinacan The fossil record does nothing to prove evolution. There are countless examples of fossils found in contradicting order to evolutionary predictions. They are found in the wrong rock layers, indicating the layers were formed quickly. There are NO fossils found in the rock strata that are watertight examples of transitional species, even though if evolution were true they should be all over the place. The theory has many holes, and the fossil record does nothing but discredit it.

DovefromGod 1 month ago
@xDEADLYGAMING I mean no offence, but I am home-schooled, and this is a gross misconception. I believe in Creationism, and I am a Christian, but I do not claim to have scientific "proof" of God nor do most of my peers. All I know is what He has done for me personally.
I am well read and well informed, beyond what my parents have taught me, and in my work I seem to have have missed this physical proof of Evolution, and ask that you please inform me.
bellaluna423 1 month ago
To the people who keep saying evolution is just a theory:
Darwin's theory of evolution via natural selection is a theory.
The principle of the matter, that living beings evolve, IS A FACT!
We just aren't sure about WHY beings evolve but it has been proven that they DO EVOLVE!
It's EXACTLY the same case with gravity. No one questions whether gravity is real because it's much more easily observable, but their are different theories of WHY gravity exists.
So gravity is "just" a theory too?
anthemofadam 1 month ago
@anthemofadam When was it proven that things evolve?Evolution cannot be observed, and therefore it can not be proven. When I drop a book,it falls to the ground. I observe Gravity and believe in it.Evolution is hardly a "priniciple of matter" It cannot be observed, therefore it cannot be proven, therefore it remains a theory. As soon as someone comes to me with concrete evidence of Evolution, I will believe it.I have yet to see any, and will continue to regard evolution only as a viable theory.
bellaluna423 1 month ago
@bellaluna423 Gravity IS considered a theory. Even though it's observable by anyone, it's still considered a theory by scientists and its got way more holes in it than the theory of evolution. Scientists have observed evolution through the fossil record and putting some things together in nature like a species of bird evolving a longer beek on certain islands because of the food available there vs that same species not having that feature in other parts of the world. There are so many examples.
anthemofadam 1 month ago
@anthemofadam I never said it wasn't a theory;I said its effects are clearly observable and therefore indisputable. As for the birds, if you are referring to the Galapagos finches, it was simply natural selection that caused the birds with less suitable beaks to die out.Because the birds with short beaks couldn't obtain food as well, they died out,and the other, larger beaked birds reproduced. The finches made no transition to a different species. They adapted, they didn't evolve into anything new.

They maintain a list of scientists who doubt darwinism, but many of those scientists were added to the list without their knowledge, and those who are legitimately on there typically have no expertise in biology, so their opinions on evolution are those of laymen.

Also you don't seem to realize that the 1800s was 'Darwin's day". On the Origin of Species was published in the 1850s.

DarkZerkerX 2 months ago
She's right; science doesn't prove anything. The scientific method is based on one logical fallacy after another. Read Karl Popper. Read Bertrand Russell. Neither of those guys could be said to be friends of Christianity, yet they understood, to one extend or another, the limitations of science. There is no truth in science, nor is there any true knowledge. Sure, science "works." But just because something works, doesn't mean it is true.
joelthomaspeterson 2 months ago
@joelthomaspeterson Good luck navigating the world with an ignorant epistemology like that. It's no wonder you'd be forced to turn to mysticism. And no, the scientific method isn't riddled with logical fallacies. I'd like to see your evidence for that.
apollo33 2 months ago
@apollo33
Good luck with that.
joelthomaspeterson 2 months ago
@joelthomaspeterson Crampton's article is pathetic. It's unfortunate that people cling so strongly to their beliefs (which you admit can't be known to be true) that they'll go to any length to discredit even the systematic observation of the natural world. Why did your loving god give you senses purposely to deceive you? You should probably figure that out... or better yet, cut the sensory organs out of your body so you can receive true illumination.
apollo33 2 months ago
@apollo33
I never said all beliefs can't be known to be true. I said the scientific method is an inadequate source of knowledge, given the irrational grounds upon which it stands.
joelthomaspeterson 2 months ago
@joelthomaspeterson If the senses aren't to be trusted, and the mind is capable of illogical reasoning and outright imaginings, what is your source of knowledge?
apollo33 2 months ago
@joelthomaspeterson You seem to think that Science actually claims to reveal absolute truth, when it does no such thing. There can be no fallacy in the method as it's simply a set of guidelines for making the most of experimental inquiry. Fallacies only arise when humans incorrectly interpret the experiments.
It's pretty hypocritical to say my views are irrational when your standard for truth is reading a book and deciding that it's true (at least I assume, given your suggestion of Crampton).
apollo33 2 months ago

Yet many people today do believe that science reveals truth.
joelthomaspeterson 2 months ago
@joelthomaspeterson By absolute truth I mean the full nature of the universe. It's entirely possible that our universe exists in the imagination of a god who controls all cause and effect and supplies our sensory perceptions. It's also impossible to prove the non-existence of a god for this reason. But if we consider everything that's possible for us to know or observe as our system, then I believe that Science is the best method for discovering truths about that. So yes, evolution is true.
apollo33 2 months ago
@apollo33: "I believe that Science is the best method for discovering truths about that."
What's your evidence for this? Has this been scientifically proven? Or do you simply take the reliability of science on faith?
joelthomaspeterson 2 months ago
@joelthomaspeterson "What's your evidence for this? Has this been scientifically proven? Or do you simply take the reliability of science on faith?"
Either you're trolling or you're dumb. The evidence is in the predictive power and reliability. The reliability is why faith isn't needed. You can't scientifically prove that science proves things, that's called circular reasoning. I think we're done here.
apollo33 2 months ago
@joelthomaspeterson People are "mortified" by her statement because she's taking a very complex philosophical concept and selectively (hypocritically) using it just to turn her children against science.
apollo33 2 months ago
@apollo33
I fail to see how she's being hypocritical.

@joelthomaspeterson Answer my other post and it might give you some insight. You should also try considering how many thousands of times you use induction every day.
