The US was the only UN member that refused to ratify the Convention on the Rights of the Child. It also has the highest incarceration rate in the world and embarrassingly low test scores. Whereas countries like Finland rate very high in academic achievement and low in crime. There is really no evidence to support the position that child bottom-battering instills virtue.

That was a good video. Its interesting to see so much uncivil commentary from pro-hitters. Research has consistently shown that children who are "spanked" exhibit more antisocial behavior, belligerence, a lack of empathy development, diminished problem-solving skills, etc, etc, etc. The US states with the highest rates of child-hitting also have the highest crime rates and poorest academic performance. Yet the mantram always seems to be "I was 'spanked' and I turned out OK".
