It's a test film, not an actual theatrical short. The purpose of the BFX test films was simply to demonstrate the film-making uses of the prop that was made in that week's BFX episode. While many of them do stand on their own as short films, it's not the purpose of them to do so.

The special effects were really good for a youtube video but the dialogue, the acting, and the plot were really cheesy. The plot can be forgiven due to how short the video was, and the acting could be forgiven because you're not professional actors, but the near nonexistent dialogue which involves only the writer could have been better. I don't want bash people and their works but I kinda agree with some of the comments here. First, I think its more of an "effects demo" rather than a "short film" because short films should still have the elements of a feature films, like the Act 1 - 3, characterization, and stuff, just shorter. Here, they just bang bang bang, fight, then its over. Second, the acting really need a lot more work. The effects show really powerful magic, yet the actors look like they're just uncomfortable.

I think the point is more ot demonstrate that certain thigns can be done on a cheap budget than to really demonstrate a sense of narrative. Aspiring Films makers need advice and proof that certain things are doable, and this shows what is possible. So, less of a story and more of showcase.
