LOVE this movie! I went to India last year. The only negative thing I can say about this movie is that it's completely impossible to walk past the Taj Mahal and miss it! First, you need to buy a ticket to get into the grounds! Anyway, good joke, great movie!
"I guess ... the Exorcist ... never played the subcontinent." (A. Brooks) How very, very true because "A house divided against itself cannot stand." (A. Lincoln) Mtr. Theresa would simply, kindly usher them into the next universe. Ars longa, vita brevis.
yeah yeah .. all of us muslims are stupid and have no sense of humor.. only AMERICANS know how to laugh and be amused ...
typical arrogance.. i watched the movie and the indians were portrayed as stupid people who dont understand jokes or sarcasm (his assistant) and the AMERICAN comedian was teaching his assistant all about SARCASM ?
@forgetfuluniverse the funny thing about this movie half of the audience was indian, the other half were hispanics and other minorities. i was there im hispanic and it sucked being in there.

@sr038 "Mark Maron said that Albert Brooks was (at one time) doing comedy"
What does that mean? I love Maron and Brooks (and I DON'T love everybody), and I would like to know where you got that paraphrase, and what's it supposed to mean!? This is not the kind of scathing Maron comedy you may be used to, it is something finer, something truly meta and magnanimous. To not Get It is a common response. It means - you may understand comedy - just not Brooks.
How funny is Albert Brooks? A joke (improv) within a joke (being bad at improv and knowing the audience will recognize you being bad at it) within a joke (having an audience that won't recognize it.)
You got it. Brooks never gives us one-track comedy, running it into the ground (there's a place for disaster comic's like Lewis Black, but thank God for Brooks!). If I had to name the best American comedy directors, Brooks would be right up there with Keaton and Sturges.
LOL I cant even blame the indians for not laughing at that.

this is a "classic"... a little like Andy Kaufman...(like his audiences and this faux audience), most people don't get it..
