This movie had everything it needed to be a good movie. Great actors, good director, incredible sets, good story. I just don't know why it didn't work. Maybe because they tried to throw everything into this movie. I would have liked to see more of the team trying to make their way thru the pyramid. That was the best part of the movie. I just didn't buy the lone chick with the pred at the end. So many great characters killed so quickly is never a good thing either.

I personally liked that they had the Aliens and Predators in a vastly different setting compared to the others, along with people who weren't particularly battle trained or had experience with other worldly things. Not EVERY Alien, Predator, or AVP movie needs to be set in space or a jungle all the time and have tons of beefy, machine gun wielding characters, which is what I sense a lot of people expected or wanted from this film.

Every film maker knows the golden rule, don't show the monster. Predator and Alien both worked because most of the time you don't see the monster. Thus the idea of having both monsters slug it out in clear view is just stupid. It's not going to work, ever.

There is something incredibly weird about the Predator from Predator 2. First of all, it could talk. WTF, I'm assuming that it's just mimicking what its heard from other humans. Second of all, its was using its mask to breath. Can't Predators already breath oxygen? Third of all, its was much darker in color. I'm assuming it's one of the Predators from the Adrien Brody film, with the big black Predators?

AvP one spent to much fucking time setting up the story, the actual fighting only takes up the last 45 minutes and two of the three preds are pussies so fail there.
AvPR was too dark you couldn't see anything and the whole idea of a romance in the middle of a massive battle made no sense. Who goes to an AvP movie for a half assed sex scene?

well the only problem with that is, it plays AGAINST the creatures strengths. why is alien so famous? because you know hes there, but you dont know where... hell have killed you 8 times... and you STILL wont know where he was... predator, a one... um... thing army... preds would win, as theyre ore intelligent if it was 500 preds vs 500 xenos... plus, people grow attatched to preds, as they act as the "good bad guys". aliens are just there to flinch you ad then die

I think the story was actually very intriguing. The characters though were flimsy and uninteresting, the action was sparse and the film itself was just half assed.
I thought both AvP films were terrible, but the sequel was a little better than the first mainly because it was a bit scarier and more violent.
Even so, it would have been nice if the AvP films were set in the future in space, a battle between Aliens, Predators and probably the Colonial Marines.

I just think its funny how in both Predator movies they talk about how they only hunt during the hottest times. then in avp its freezing cold. And they totally screwed up the pred suits by making them short and fat, and giving them wrist blades as long as their arms.
in the comics the Preds crash landed in Siberia (i think) and that was the only reason they were there. They avoid cold areas at all costs. Bad idea by PA. I thought part 2 showed what a predator should be able to do one on one vs a predator. Paul also said that his predators were better hunters than the pred in Arnold's Predator. That's ridiculous. AVPR is the first predator that has been on par to the first hunter. Predator 2 had a lame pred as did PA's avp movie.
Alien was ok but the pacing was too sloooooooow!!!! It just set the stage for the best one, Camerons Aliens. Predator 1 A plus, predator 2 ok a A minus, AVP was from Dark Horse comics and this was the #1 selling comic in the country in the early 90s-i used to collect them they were pretty darn good, no kid stuff either, anyway i hope they quit screwing them up and make a really good AVP - why make B movies when you have A plus material to make it from?
Slow made the movie for me- it kind of made more suspense the alien moving slow kind of made it creepier- but yeah ALIENS was a masterpiece of a sequeal it was number 1 on a list of top 50 sequeals.

it wasnt that bad of a filmi guess. Besides its better than the terrible AVP R they made after. I can see why alot of people will slate this movie and p.anderson but to be honest i dont see how an Alien vs Predator movie would work anyway. To get a good story you would need the film to be 12hrs long. The new predators movie looks good and will be better than AVP simply because its not crossing the 2 species.

@happosai27 The concept was crap. Alien Vs Predator needs marines and space. We only got one movie, count 'em ONE movie with Colonial Marines in it, ONE movie with Pulse Rifles, ONE movie with Smart Guns. They are insane not to have brought them back. Who gives a fuck about speccy archaeologists in Antarctica?? All they needed to do was, essentially, make a real sequal to Aliens and shove Predators in the mix. Worst still, they had a second chance to make it right and fucked it up AGAIN. Doh!

AvP one spent to much fucking time setting up the story, the actual fighting only takes up the last 45 minutes and two of the three preds are pussies so fail there.
AvPR was too dark you couldn't see anything and the whole idea of a romance in the middle of a massive battle made no sense. Who goes to an AvP movie for a half assed sex scene?
These movies are bad, just plain bad.

well the only problem with that is, it plays AGAINST the creatures strengths. why is alien so famous? because you know hes there, but you dont know where... hell have killed you 8 times... and you STILL wont know where he was... predator, a one... um... thing army... preds would win, as theyre ore intelligent if it was 500 preds vs 500 xenos... plus, people grow attatched to preds, as they act as the "good bad guys". aliens are just there to flinch you ad then die

I think the story was actually very intriguing. The characters though were flimsy and uninteresting, the action was sparse and the film itself was just half assed.
That's why it failed, IMO.

I thought both AvP films were terrible, but the sequel was a little better than the first mainly because it was a bit scarier and more violent.
Even so, it would have been nice if the AvP films were set in the future in space, a battle between Aliens, Predators and probably the Colonial Marines.

I just think its funny how in both Predator movies they talk about how they only hunt during the hottest times. then in avp its freezing cold. And they totally screwed up the pred suits by making them short and fat, and giving them wrist blades as long as their arms.

in the comics the Preds crash landed in Siberia (i think) and that was the only reason they were there. They avoid cold areas at all costs. Bad idea by PA. I thought part 2 showed what a predator should be able to do one on one vs a predator. Paul also said that his predators were better hunters than the pred in Arnold's Predator. That's ridiculous. AVPR is the first predator that has been on par to the first hunter. Predator 2 had a lame pred as did PA's avp movie.

Alien was ok but the pacing was too sloooooooow!!!! It just set the stage for the best one, Camerons Aliens. Predator 1 A plus, predator 2 ok a A minus, AVP was from Dark Horse comics and this was the #1 selling comic in the country in the early 90s-i used to collect them they were pretty darn good, no kid stuff either, anyway i hope they quit screwing them up and make a really good AVP - why make B movies when you have A plus material to make it from?

Slow made the movie for me- it kind of made more suspense the alien moving slow kind of made it creepier- but yeah ALIENS was a masterpiece of a sequeal it was number 1 on a list of top 50 sequeals.
