The part starting at 2:00 makes no sense. If the holes in the flask are taped over and plaster is poured over the wax tree, how can the wax melt out of the holes later when the plaster has hardened? It must melt out of the bottom, so why not use a solid flask? This part needs to be re-worded.
I play flute and my teacher for homeroom is also our science teacher so I showed her this video she heard the three magic words solids,liquids,and gases
Flutes can be expensive because some of their materials are like made of GOLD and silver! Do u guys know who's James Gallway? He's a professional flute player and his flute's like PURE GOLD! not sure tho but his flute's color is GOLD!! (;
@playgroundmusicPC They charge so much because people who repair instruments go to school to college to learn how to repair all kinds of instruments---so they're expensive to hire to begin with due to specialized schooling. That, and the time it takes to disassemble, replace, then reassemble all the components.
.
I agree though, they do charge way too much---but that's how shit works in the instrument industry, everything is needlessly overpriced.
@SakurasVagina What the hell difference does it make whether or not they LIKE or DISLIKE the video. If YOU like it, then that's all that matters. For christ sakes.
For those of you asking about the price of a flute, check out the web sites for Powel Flutes. $10,000 is the bottom of their price range. They currenty have one for over $43,000.
@floriana1985, I'm not saying what you may have paid back then. Look at their current list prices. You may be able to buy for less but their current list prices start at around $10K.
ehh..is it just me or american instruments are just rlly..rlly expensive? here the flute is most likely one of the chaper ones compared to a sax or a violin
@Jaffet1990 thats because those kind of flutes ranging from 500-1500 is low quality and mostly for beginners. the one mentioned here is a very high quality flute and probably a famous brand
My flute was nearly 2000 dollars but s local store was going out of buisness so we got it for 990.99 is was beautiful and I have had since sixth grade and now I'm going into eighth and it is still realllyy shiny and pretty
They're probably a prominent company that make their flutes with solid silver, gold, or platinum. Some companies, even though they're quality is very good make thier flutes with sterling silver and plate them with nickel or silver. Man hours goes into the price because some flutes are machine made :)
They're not going to go out of buisness. They claim they have no waiting list but they ask you to order three years in advance. Their flutes are some of the most wanted in the world.
I got a very nice flute for $1200 that had a Boston head joint and Sonare body and foot joints. Excellent flute and almost as good as a fully professional flute. One think to consider though is the Boston head joint dents way easy as should be handled carefully. I can't imagine how delicate some of the better flutes are. (btw thinner metal= better tone)
@AcroTielGuy No this video is of Burkhart Boston flutes. A Sonare has a signature Powell headjoint. If you have a Burkhart headjoint with a sonare then you bought the headjoint separatly, or the person selling the flute to you had bought them separatly.
$9,000 and up? Yeah, that's about right for a professional level flute (and Boston flutes are really nice). I almost got a $7,000 flute in college, but I didn't end up pursuing it professionally, so I (and my parents) decided to not spend the money. I'm very happy with my $800 flute from middle school.
Still, these are really nice flutes, and it's really cool to see the actual construction of the body of the flute. Although, I will say, normal flute pads don't cost that much to replace.
@hattrick271 Yeah, I'm in college and I've been looking at professional trombones and heard my bank account scream in fear haha. The high prices are worth it especially when most of the instrument is mostly hand made like most professional instruments.
