This is shoot-STYLE wrestling, not real shootfighting. In the American PPV broadcast it was passed off as real, when in reality it was just pro-wrestling made to look like MMA (Which was a popular thing to do in Japanese pro wrestling at the time).

There were real shootfighting organizations out there, like Pancrase and Shooto. But here, you can clearly see the UWF logos on the turnbuckle.

This looks real to me. It's a great fight. Kakiahaba is always great to watch and the Americans really beat up his partner, cutting him off from tagging Kakiahaba at the end.

If this isn't real, these guys are really good actors.

Sorry guys, this is UWF. 100% worked shoot-fighting / shoot-wrestling from Japan. Very much like RINGS. Look up Akira Maeda, he is the king of this stuff. If this was real, Sakuraba would have destroyed those two Americans. It is still fun to watch sometimes.
