My brother told me about the bat when i was little. Heard made up horror stories about it killing people and it always intrigued me. It was taken out a few years before i was born and I've always been sore i never got a chance to ride it. I ride vortex often and care more about where the bat used to be when i'm waiting in line. Thanks for doing this because this is as close as I'll ever get to riding it.
@RogerMooreRulz I feel your pain. I never got a chance to ride it either. I'm glad you liked it. Sadly, it is as close as we will ever get to the real thing.
These types of coasters have controlled my heart. Sadly, these coasters are disapearing. I never did ride the Bat nor the Big Bad Wolf, but I must say the swinging coaster is defenitly classic!
i was never able to ride this, the vortex was in its place the first time i went to kings island... it looks awesome though, wish they would have kept that ride, maybe put it where the top gun is cuz that ride sucks ass, it's really short. i am very glad that vortex is there though, fun ride.

The footers used to base The Bat's supports were never removed. They still lay there, hidden under the grass and weeds all through the area where Vortex now is.
Some of the catwalk peices used on Vortex are from The Bat.
Vortex uses the same station as The Bat. but no longer themed as a ahunted Victorian mansion.
Vortex's transfer tracks were the same ones used on The Bat. You can still see the cutouts in the shape of The Bat's cars.
also, up until about 3 years ago the actual bat trains were stored underneath the vortex station. now i believe they have been moved to the beast station but i am not sure.
@SuperWeatherman09 It is pretty common for parks to keep stuff like that around after closing a ride. Most of the time the trains end up re-painted and sold to another park or moved to a different ride. In the case of the Bat, the trains were just too unique to stick on some other random ride, plus there are relatively few flying suspended coasters.
Also, may I add, The Bat was torn down due to the lack of banked turns, which caused severe stress and pain to the riders, and was closed, and later torn down, due to many numerous injury reports against the park that occured on the coaster. Yea, talk about wasted money.
The Bat was the world's first suspended coaster. Due to many numerous problems with it, however, it was torn down. Big Bad Wolf was built just a few years after The Bat was built, and if it weren't for Big Bad Wolf, there would be no suspended coasters anymore; but without The Bat, the idea wouldn't have been thought of in the first place.
Now, sadly, the two legendary coasters that started this breed are now gone. RIP BBG and TB.
Well I have to say ellieb1961 had a good post. I can say I have been on ALL the coasters at KI. You did a good job. If you read about the bat the speed was slow for todays speeds. Thanks josh4958
Where in the park was the Bat located? I'm very familiar with the layout of Kings Island now, if that helps in describing where the Bat once stood. Thanks.
The Bat stood in the exact spot where the Vortex now stands, the Vortex even uses the same loading station although it has been re-designed and no longer looks like a creepy victorian house.
I rode the Bat the first year it opened , and I think you did a really good job, even if it isn't perfect, who cares? It was good anyway! At least you got close! Great job!
Too bad this coaster didn't survive. Besides Big Bad Wolf, this suspended coaster was the 1st to have track that HIGH UP in the air. The absolute BEST ride was at night....when they had orange spotlights on the ground that shot light up at the riders. All you saw was orange lights down below and DARKNESS! From ground, you'd see the shiny reflections of the shiny black Bat cars whipping through the darkness.
Sorry...but this recreation isn't close to the original ride. I had a season pass for numerous years and would ride The Bat over & over again on Saturday and Sunday evenings until close...without having to run through the line again...just bounce from seat to seat. ;)
There are too many turns (at the end)...not enough (between the 1st and second lift hills). The ride has braking passages before the 2nd lift...and doesn't "shoot" up the 2nd lift hill.
it's as close as this game will let you get. i do have block brakes before the 2nd lift but they mysteriously dont work due to a game glitch. the end of the track is off because the game does not have tack pieces that would correctly follow the layout. i did the best you could with what the game gives you to work with, take it or leave it. sorry i couldn't meet your standards.
Thank you for doing this! I love this coaster! When and if you do a second addition, include the second lift hill. Overall, this is a wonderful virtual model of the ride!
The 2nd lift is there, they are starting it at 1:12 in the video. I didn't put a brake run before it so they pretty much clear most of the hill without the chain. I am working on a more "period correct" version. Stay tuned.
For the trees I just clicked away and scattered them at random, then added a few last minute to "close the walls" on the tight turns. I did make the section under the second lift into a hill to help with tree heights. I am re-making the ride again, this next one will have King's Island period-correct scenery (if possible). I'm having a heck of a time getting my station to look good. What scenery did you use for your station roof??
I used Shyguy's Alpine sets(roofs) and the Steel Works I think it is from Jcat. I can make you a station no sweat if you want me to. But I don't think it will look good on pink like the photos had, thats why mine is black.
Thanks for the info. I have both of those scenery sets so I will see what I can come up with. If you want, message me your email address and I'll send you the track and/or park if you want to take a crack at it yourself. thanks again and happy tycooning!

@spidertron99 Actually, you can get really close to riding it.
Top Gun (Flight Deck) is made almost completely out of the parts from the bat.

@spidertron99 Is there any idea as to why King's Island kept the trains for the bat?

Since Paramount no longer owns Kings Island, they should reconstruct The Bat.
I'm sure they still have the layout design!
