oh yeah, and what about Pigram Brothers (Broome indigenous family of "Saltwater Cowboys" fame)
doing "i'll be gone" !! from a soundtrack based around a book, Tim Winton maybe.
Band of Frequencies are new, Oz and surf-focussed (and more).

For something different but still surf-music related try Stevie Ray Vaughan and Dick Dale's Pipeline from Back to the Beach, for something equally laid back take a look at Cristo Redentor by Donald Byrd (or almost as good, Harvey Mandel's version), and for some Oz music contemporary with this give I'll be Gone(Spectrum) a listen. All on YouTube.
