he was great. but this was actually one of the worst productions of guys and dolls i have ever seen. it was pretty awful, talent was good though. direction horrific.
School productions have the best lighting!!!! XD just saw a bunch of teens production of this at the neptune theatre and like this the lighting was amazing. Look at the professional ones and im like '...ok?'
Students just seem to work harder on these things
@davidmoorcroft and @musicalwatch - thanks for the lighting comments! I designed the lighting for this production at CMU and it is very cool to see people enjoying it on YouTube.
GREAT JOB! But I dont know if he's necessarily right for this part... He's definitely supposed to be the overweight character actor. But he has a great voice.
In the last Broadway revival Nicely was not overweight and it worked. He doesn't have to be, check out their Tony performance on Broadway. Stubby Kaye the original happened to be a large man.
Well, the only reason why I say that is in the script there are tiny references to his weight and eating. I'm all for new interpretations of characters and this one seemed to work well.
Talented folks, but WAY too slow and schmaltzy. WAY. Go watch Stubby Kaye do it.
